  1. Thank you for keeping on that wagon, I too would love both Fowler and Stanier 2-6-2T models but living on the left side of the pond and never getting to a show makes it difficult to ask manufacturers.

    EBay madness

I have noticed that a number of UK based sellers list the shipping using GSP but then in the item description they say "Contact us for cheaper shipping by not using GSP". I choose these sellers all the time.

    EBay madness

First post on this topic and I hope that this is allowed as it doesn't relate to a seller but ebay itself and the glorious Global Shipping programme. Being an ex-pat living in the US making a British outline model, I know that stuff that I get from the UK will cost more to ship, though lack of VAT usually offsets this. I was looking to get a Peco 6ft way gauge and my first google search came up with one on ebay for only $2.42. Shipping however, is a very "reasonable" $50.25 plus possible international charges!
  4. I think that some people who flew the Sea Vixen would say that it what it flew like.
  5. The antennas for this system are used for ship to air comms, IIRC. Carriers would not normally talk to submerged subs, but MOD UK Navy do use VLF systems to talk to subs. Antenna sizes are a function of frequency and VLF systems do need long aerials. I forgot to mention, in the picture shown, the antenna that you are talking about are vertical for normal operations and folded down, as in the picture, during flying ops. Obviously this is to not interfere with moving aircraft, both in flight and on deck.
  6. Do you mean the things that are sticking out horizontally ? (apologies for nautical terms) If so, they are radio antenna with wires strung between them and they rotate vertically.
  7. Well my daughter works on the ARTEMIS program for NASA and she has brains. She spent 45 consecutive days in the control room for the most recent launch, last November and even she would admit there is some duplication of effort. But as they were told 100% success is the only outcome. She has opined that during the prep for launch and their review of Apollo data, they are still amazed that APollo was so successful. Apologies for thread drift but here is the ARTEMIS launch
  8. Very interested to hear about your build experiences with this kit. I really want one of these tanks as 41900 as she was seen at Wellington Salop in 1960. I have the old Falcon Brass kit of this loco, but would be interested in this more up to date kit. I too have been struggling with the number of spokes and came up with 17 for all the photos that I have in the 1955+ era.
