  1. I shall check that out when we are down there this weekend for a short break! Jim
  2. Bright, Sunny and snow free here! 😄 Jim
  3. Normal loading gauge height is 13'6", 27mm, above rail (p10 of the handbook), however some RTR stuff may be taller than that so need extra clearance. I had to raise the height of the Dunblane footbridge for Dunallander as a Farish(?) Duchess wouldn't pass under it at scale height. Jim
  4. Which I why I offered these vehicles with their low floor. Trolley No 1 (CR Dia 34) would therefore seem to suffice. Jim
  5. As an aside Gladstone's grandfather, Thomas, was a native of Biggar. Jim
  6. If one is found you'll need this to transport it (providing it's under 20T.). 20T trolley No.1 If it turns out to be heavier than that a 40T one may be needed. Jim
  7. 'OK, which smart a**e put a goldfish in here?' 😄 Jim
  8. I've not experienced any such problem. How old is your skew gear? I understand there was a batch produced some time ago that had the skew the wrong way. Jim
  9. My concern with 3D printed bodies is one of weight. How much adhesion does the loco have to haul a decent train? It can be difficult enough with a metal body to get sufficient adhesion in a small loco. Jim
  10. An Eire modeller friend of mine once said that the Southern Irish are living for the future, the Northern Irish are living in the past! Jim
  11. Forgot to add this photo for all you Harry Potter fans.
  12. Some video from Model Rail Scotland yesterday. More Copper Wort Breweries seem to be popular. This is North Cornwall Brewery. Some more Burntisland The roundhouse Jim
  13. On Kirkallanmuir I put a couple of brass screws under each of the brass sleepers and soldered the sleepers securely to them. Jim
  14. I'd recommend you keep the two adjacent boards fixed together and lay the track right across the joint. Then cut through the rails with a razor saw before separating the boards. That way you will get a smooth alignment over the board joint. Jim
  15. wagons can be shunted on and off the train ferry and the ramp can be raised and lowered. It started as an entry (the winning one BTW) to the S4 Societies challenge a number of years ago to build a layout in 18.84 sq. ft. and since then, like Topsy, it has growed! Jim
  16. A couple of the pre-group layouts at Model Rail today. Copper Wort The star, for me anyway, and not just because i know several of those involved in it, Burntisland 1884 I will try to get some more tomorrow. Jim
  17. I can (almost) match that! Tweedbank (having travelled down behind her from Waverley 15.05.2015 She went north on the WCML last Wednesday with her support coach, passing through Symington near here, to (I think) Edinburgh. Jim
  18. Instead of a reading lamp, invest in a wind up, led headlamp. That way the light will always be shining in the direction you are looking and, being wind up you don't have to worry about batteries. Jim (on the train home from Model Rail)
  19. Back in the early 2000's I submitted an article to MRJ on the construction of my CR 2-2-2WT No. 1A, which was an amalgam of three articles I had written for the 2MM Magazine. It came back by return of post marked 'too obscure a prototype'. I then sent it to one of the other magazines (can't recall which), but it was never published. I still write the occasional article for the 2MM Mag, if only because I know Anthony, the editor, is always short of copy. I will not be wasting my time trying to get anything published in the 'mainstream' model press. Jim
  20. Cheeky b****r! Only two good things ever came out of that city in the East whose name we never mention - the Glasgow Road and the Glasgow train! 😄 See you tomorrow, Jim
  21. Hi Alan, ZAG meetings are generally fortnightly and alternately 09:30 and 19:30 GMT, so the one in 2 weeks time will be at 19:30GMT. Jim
  22. There would need to be trap points on the exit between the branch turnout and the division of the shed roads. Signalling would need an outer home before the branch turnout and a ground signal controlling egress from the shed to the branch. Moves into the shed would be controlled by a signal off scene. Jim
  23. Could the connection to the carriage shed come off the BS branch? I'm a little concerned at having a double slip under an overbridge (wary of Sod's law again), so moving the connection to the other branch would avoid the need for it. BTW, I will be on the 2MM Scale Association Roadshow stand at Model Rail Scotland this coming Friday and Saturday, so if there are any parishioners attending, please say hello. Jim
  24. Could the carriage shed be turned round the other way, with its end against the road bridge approach, accessed via either a direct connection off the Fakeney Branch by running onto the cassette, or by a connection before the cassette with a headshunt running behind the cassette ? Jim
