  1. Made progress on a the station running in board, just need to colour the plants, can't decide whether to use flock or paint. Case of which one keeps it colour better,
  2. Well I've finally got it working, so I thought I would post what I found out, to help others 1 The small connectors to plug into Sw1 and Sw2 are really small and it's quite difficult to see what you doing when you are under the baseboard trying to plug it in. 2 I had a faulty connector which took some finding since it was intermittent, so in the end I had to unplug the servo unit from the signal several times. Despite previous reports I had no problem separating the 2 units. 3. Putting it back was a different problem the forks on the signal have to slot over the servo arms and it too several goes to get this right. It is too easy for the signal arm to slide to the left of the servo arm. In fact If it hadn't of been in warranty I would have been tempted to drill a hole in the servo body to revel the position of the arms. Having got it working it's now a case of don't touch and leave well alone!!
  3. Does anyone know what connector is used for plugging the switch into the servo unit. I could do with a replacement one?
  4. My father's pictures from the Battle of Britain He is in the front row 3rd from the left
  5. been thinking about it Peter spares do 12.8 mm wheels with one wheel live and alon g with DCC concepts axle springs would sort out the shunter pickup problem What I haven't worked out yet is how to couple it to the loco
  6. Decided to fit the signal for platform 1. It's situated on the baseboard edge and involved quite a bit of carpentry to get it fitted. Also I didn't want to risk damaging any signal for platform 2 when leaning over the baseboard Because they don't supply switched with this type, I m waiting for a delivery before installing the control panel. I'm crossing my fingers that the wires from the gantry signal will be long enough. I'v spotted another job straightening up the station name board, although I'm thinking I might replace them with something more posh.
  7. Right I have one more home signal to place Am I putting it in the right place to control exit from Platform 2 which is a bay? I should be able to fit another signal in same place for platform 1 eventually, when I have some more funds. Although drilling the hole will be fun! Will I need another signal eventually for the line to the gasworks?
  8. Well I've fitted the bracket signal without any problems Just got to work out how to mount the switches etc
  9. My next project is to add some signals to the layout Thought I would build a test bed to try them out first Had no problems with the 2 home signals and have decided to power them from a separate 9V battery. Interestingly the bracket signal comes with supplied switches, the home signals don't, so something else to buy However the bracket signal is a different problem. 1. The hole size required is 15mm not 14mm for the home signals, which is a bit of a pain since I only brought a 14mm drill bit, therefore means I will have to do a bit of filing. 2. You notice I have not actually tested it. This is because on reading the instructions, it told you how to fit the base unit to the signal and to check it clicked into place, However no where does it tell you how to remove it! Did a search on Rmweb and discovered Checkrail problem on Stoke Courtenay. So for the moment have decided to play safe and not test the bracket signal before adding it layout, which I can't say I'm happy about because there are settings you can adjust on the base unit and it is easier to do on the bench. 1.
  10. With respect to the above. 1. The hole for the bracket signal needs to be 15mm which is not home signals which are 14mm . Didn't realise this until I had brought a drill but to fit the home signals so a bit of extra filing. I'm going to leave well alone and only fit the base unit when the signal is in place on the layout.
  11. I am just testing A new bracket signal with a the base unit on a test bed before fitting to layout. I can see instructions how to fit the base unit to the signal, but no where does it tell you how to remove it! Obviously I am worried in case it is not designed to come off again!! Therefore permanently attached to the test bed
  12. Paul thanks for your response and best of luck with your layout, if you really want inspiration have a look at Little Muddle Richard
  13. Decided to run my full schedule today for change since as it is raining there is no work to be done in the garden
  14. I used these people for my signal box name, very good https://www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/shop/lx093-oo-laser-engrave-signal-box-nameplates-oo4mm176/
  15. I painted the seats and added passengers. I did try adding pictures to the compartment divides but you can't see them through the small windows, in the same way you can't pick out any details on the people, unlike with the autocoach, where you can quite clearly see who is who. The other big improvements I feel is painting the drop lights and the roof black grey
  16. View of the Bset on the viaduct I also changed the capacitor in the Autocoach which was a tight fit You can see the detail inside much better with the larger windows
  17. Not done much modelling recently, been too busy in the garden and the allotment Well with today's rain I've finished adding lighting to the Bset On the first coach I did I added passengers and pictures on the corridor divides. When I powered it up discovered the windows are so small you can only jst see the passengers and certainly no the pictures! Boy where those from Tiny Signs fiddly So when doing the second one I only added the passengers. As before you can use a magnet to turn them off or on. I made one big change however to the auto flicker unit from Layouts4U. I wasn't happy to see them fitted with 1000uf 16V capacitors, when I was reading almost 15V across them, they should be rated at 1.5 times the voltage, especially since years ago I saw one blow up.So I order a pack of 25V caps and hoped they would fit. which they did.
  18. Has anyone added lighting to these coaches, I notice one of the wheels is so it should be easy to fit spring pickups
  19. Interested you used Keen system for B set. Just starting adding lighting, might add these as well. have you got any pics of Keen couplings?
  20. Getting ready to add lighting to my B set Coaches. Does anyone know whether I need Amber or Warm White Lighting strip?
  21. You are quite right it's something I forgot to do when replacing the body. I had actually done that on the original body shell.
  22. This layout is always an inspiration, to me and it it always encourages to improve on what I have been doing. My biggest encouragement recently was when a friend of mine asked if his grandson could come and visit the layout and the look on the nine year old of amazement. He has been back since with lots of questions, and fortunately there is always something he hasn't spotted before. I demonstrated static grass to him last time since he was amazed by the grass on the layout. Best of all I managed to run the full schedule ,which I don't do very often, with out any problems. So please keep posting KNP
