  1. Hi Rob, back to the Hawksworth coaches, I was lucky last year to pickup four Hornby's, 3 all first and 1 brake 3rd. There was also a full brake but I ran out of funds!, I'am sure they fell off the back of a truck! I managed to talk down the seller to AU$25 each + p&h from UK toTasmania. At the time I had no idea of the rrp.(I don't think she did either). Wish i swapped a 1st for the full brake now knowing the rrp. Anyway behind a King or a Castle they look great, here's mine on my unfinished unnamed layout hauled by Kenilworth Castle. Just makes the end of my timeline, whew.
  2. G'day Richard. Its' been a while since I last visited Barkham Green, love the new look station throat, its' all coming together nicely. Me, I would stick to improving the old Airfix B set, as much as I love the new Hornby sets the price frightens the hell out of me. I'am improving the Airfix set that I have. I think we all would agree with taking photos and finding all the little faults, but in saying that, best we find them that way and not by rivet counters, LoL. Keep up the postings', Tex.
  3. Hi Al, like many stumbled on this one, cracking stuff, love the yard crane. Keep it coming, all the best, Tex.
  4. Even those of us that have engines, still use them as props? Just love your layout. Kevin, your keep it simple stupid method works well, I hope to do similar on mine when I get back to it, in the meantime .......... drool.
  5. Hi Tony, I have paged your layout once before but have returned via KNPS' site. I agree with Kevin that you cannot have enough trees but, in the case of your grassy area by the brewery is about right for the scene. Perhaps a low wire fence or stone wall to say that this is private land. I doubt that an area of parkland would be so close to an industrial zone. Crown land perhaps? again this would be less wooded and not densely filled with undergrowth. In my own observations, heavy wooded areas occur on the outskirts of towns or areas that are left unkept like KNPS' manor house and uncleared country areas. A very impressive layout Tony a true credit to your skills and to what we would all love to achieve. I started my layout back in last May and have yet to start posting, have been layed up the past two months due to illness. None the less here's an area that l had the same problem with. Also, I see SR power creeping in on my GW tracks. Added to favourites, will follow with interest, Tex. Crown land
  6. Morning all from down-under. What a madhouse of weather we are having down the eastern side of the continent. From the top, Queensland, high temperatures, dust storms, tropical rain. NSW, high temperatures, bushfires, flood waters receding. Victoria, high temperatures, alpine snow. Tasmania, last week we had record-breaking high temperatures with bushfires' statewide, this week we have had rain and alpine snow. I do hope Chrisf packed well, in fact, your better of not packing anything and buying as you need it when you come down here. My best wishes' to all with horrible ailments, most of us RMwebers are a dying breed, me included but, we do encourage and spur each one on. All the best for your day, Tex.
  7. Morning all from under down under. Just goes to show how habitual we are and don't accept change too easily. Thank you to all those who have welcomed me back to the forum, thought you may have forgotten me after such a long absence. Thoughts and best wishes to all that have ailments, never give up and don't lose an opportunity to do the things you can while you can. Tx
  8. I also see all my previous posts have gone! starting at numero uno. Back to the start, bit like our hobby.
  9. Morning all from Tasmania. Well, it has been some time, went to log on and, site down. Had to go back to my original user name instead of Tassie Tex, I guess it doesn't matter, might find navigating the new site easier. So its good to be back and hope to start layout topic soon. Another GWR 00 gauge, unnamed at the moment, will be open for suggestions after posting some photos, need practice on that subject also. It has been two and a half years, 1; the area we lived in was a dead zone for the internet. 2; my health had put me in a reclusive state of mind, as most of you know a perminate sickness can put you in a dark place. Good to be back, Tex.
