Another masterpiece Deltic. What a cracking fleet of engines you've got now. I'm looking forward to seeing them all.

Great to have you back idris! hope you're on the mend i was thinking about how they would handle in very hot weather! Personally i don't think i'd want to be lighting fires in weather like that ..it was hot enough as it was! .....and don't mention the idiot neighbours around here who light the barbies up at every slightest glimpse of an hot day having swmbo bringing the washing in, and having to close all the bloody windows! A couple of times a week is ok but not every single day and a dozen at it all at once
I was on the footplate of a standard guage steam engine at the weekend and I can testify that it's a little bit uncomfortable. If you'd like to get an idea what it's like, try turning on your central heating fully, closing the doors and windows and doing an hour's exercise.

I've seen OBs work and I know it'll turn out alright. It'll be a gud 'un when it's finished.
And my Lady Anne isn't coming anywhere near your paint stripper!

Well whilst awaiting the bits to arrive for this loco' i've been busy with the grinder! As its a very angular loco' i thought i'd cut out the cab side and front windows to suit, i also removed the cab handrails and opened up the cab entrance area to a better scale width, and then drilled out the holes for future handrails. The buffs were drilled and rivets were soldered in then painted up with the much better looking pound shop Red, the smoke box and cab area were given a waft over with barby paint.
I can't wait to see the finished loco. You're much braver than me. I'd never dream of modifying my loco to the extent you have.

Bess and Warrior are looking great. Makes my loco look very ordinary.

I hope your daughter is ok. The fleet is coming on nicely. You're going to need a bigger engine shed!

Interesting list of bits 'n' pieces. FWIW I also take spare batteries as my loco is R/C. I get my water from our condenser tumble drier. Filtered to remove anything suspended in it and stored in old plasic milk bottles. Our tap water would probably be ok to use as we've had our kettle for years and no residue or limescale. I'd still filter it though to be on the safe side.

Great to be back in touch again Ian, hope you'll be joining us on here soon and posting.
I've been signed up to this forum for ages, but rarely look in. It was for my friends layout of Ellesmere that I joined. Nothing to post for my 16mm stuff about as I've done nothing since I painted up one of my newqida bogie coaches last year. I do a have a second one partly painted. Much too big for your line I'm afraid. My Lady Anne is in bits. Football this evening, but I think I'll put it all back together tomorrow evening. As usual I'm inspired and motivated by your work. I'm even tempted to raid my piggy bank and run to a second loco if I can find one I like. I'd love a Jack. Great to see you've not stood still. Not that I thought you would!

Hello Deltic.
Just a quick message to thank you for your email. I'll be in touch.

I only had time for a quick look at the layout on Saturday as I was almost constantly engaged in helping with Ellesmere. Every time I went past there only seemed to be one person operating so it seemed unfair to introduce myself and chat.
However as a local to Dallam it certainly caught the atmosphere of the real location for me. I can't comment on the stock as it's outside my area of knowledge.
I'd certainly like to see it again in a lot more detail when I can hopefully attend a show where its at as a visitor rather than exhibitor.
Well done on the debut.

The Bury Standard 4 80097 has the bunker vents fitted I have them on Facebook and there are several photos of them on there. Here is a link to an original photo of the loco I hope it helps.
It does Markjj. One less bunker to climb in to

I notice that 80080 in the museum at Highley, doesn't have the rounded tank vents in the bunker, they are completely missing.
I think it's 80079 in the muesum at Highley. 80080 is in traffic on the East Lancashire Railway. I haven't looked in the bunker for the vents, but next time I'm there which is Saturday 8th October I'll try and look in for you and see if 80080 has them. If the Std 4 shed is open I'll have a look at 80097 too.

Personal preference for me too would be the 80s. I miss all the electric locos that used to use the WCML. I'm still looking forward to seeing the layout though.

I also reside in Warrington. Not far ffrom Winwick. I may have a picture of the Duke at Winwick somewhere in my collection. Yes she sounds different. Thats down to the valve gear and exhaust I believe.
