  1. Just found MtI for sale over on a site called Black Dwarf Lightmoor Going to try to get a copy. I may need help of one of my friends who lives in the UK to get it. So she had two sisters. Shame none of them made it to today.
  2. They must have been massive for them to need to turn them by taking off the bogies. These are some very unrepresented engines. Especially the Trams and their conversions like "Lively Polly".
  3. I do believe that is a sister locomotive indeed. Based off what I've seen of Polly the only main deference I see are Screw link couplings with a hook and normal buffers as opposed to Bracket like Dumb buffers.
  4. Whoa I definitely see the family resemblance. The body build is nearly a perfect match to Polly's. Seems I'm right on the money wanting to use Polly as a Dock Yard shunter. So many of these locos were built to do that kind of work. I think I recognize that Articulated engine. I believe my library had a book of photos that showed her. Looks very powerful. Huh another wild Pannier Tank. That I'll have to check into. As far as your willing to go my friend. Though I want to have a lot of info on the more native engines. Or at least Standard Gauge. Good to see Kitty lives on. She is a cute loco and darn those scavengers. If I remember right the UP Big Boy they are restoring was missing a ton of parts.
  5. Ok after my topic on "Lively Polly" revealed her origin as a Kitson loco I'm a bit curious on finding more of their tank locomotives to see how they went about their designs. I'll post a find of my own in the morning but at the moment I'm on a mobile device and can't link properly. Anyone know of any interesting Kitson tanks? I do know a little about the experimental Kitson-Stills diesel/steam hybrid Locomotive but any information I could need on her is at hand or on the LNER Encyclopedia site so I won't bother with her here. Also I do hope I'm not becoming a nuisance with so many posts lately. I just have a wide variety of topics I want to know more on.
  6. As I suspected. Well I suppose it could realistically be converted but as Gordon says below. Ah pitty that. I guess a few got out for other sevices but not too many I assume. Still could be a freelanced wagon of similar look out there. At least I know a good wagon type to use for my rail repair trains. For sleepers anyway. Hmm were there by chance any wagons like this for rail carrying? Beyond the typical conflats of course.
  7. I do believe your right. So they were primarily used to carry Sleepers. But I'm guessing from their use with concrete works thay could handel other loads. Most likely crated goods and the like not sure if the could for example carry loose coal loads like a standard wagon.
  8. I have to say I am a sucker for oddities. I enjoy the more obscure Locomotives and rolling stock. Now I want to do more research into this kind of thing for modeling. Anyone have any strange Goods rolling stock out there? I've found this It's a GWR Wagon that kinda looks a bit like a cross between a Standard Plank Wagon mixed with a flatbed. Anyone know more on this one? Any other interesting ones?
  9. Well then that solves that mystery. I suspect Ice was a bigger problem for suspended lines since it not only interfered with the power continuity but also weighed down the rail like it can do to overhead power lines. I've seen that kind of damage first hand three years in a row.
  10. I don't think so. All pictures I've seen are of the same loco but with differnt Dumb Buffer setups. Unless "Mermaid" Was of the same class I highly doubt it. Anyone know of any pictures of "Mermaid"? That way we can figure it out.
  11. Makes sense to me. I wish there were a way to figure out the color in old photos with some software. Love to know what livery she sported.
  12. Oh wow Eddie you are a wealth of information my friend. This brings the total photo amount up to 5. Huh she started life as a Tram engine. Thats interesting and certainly explains why she is so small after her rebuild. Side tanks doubling as splashers is a neat concept. And by my guess her cylinders are much larger than I thought. Bigger than the Flying Buffer Beams' if I may say so judging from these pictures. Should work now.
  13. Oh nice another shot of her. It's a very clear shot too. Though I don't like how she got the blockey Dumb buffers. The Bracket style ones she had in a few other shots look so much nicer. Ah so a demo company. I'm guessing it was for decomissioning the old line.
  14. That is a neat little engine. But I do believe that is not Lively Polly. For one thing Lively Polly had Dumb Buffers and was never fitted with properly sprung ones. But that one does seem to be from Liverpool for the right line. Maybe it was her replacement when she went to Monks Ferry. You have given me another puzzle here David. And that is fine by me as I like these little shunters. Maybe I should rename the topic to Liverpool Overheas steam. Thank you much, 844fan
  15. Hello all, I'm not 100% sure this is the correct place to post this so if not I will move it. Anyway I've been after information for ages on a one of a kind tank engine. So far I've only leared a few things. Firstly she is the only engine of the Liverpool Overhead Railway powered by steam. Two She worked at Monks Ferry Wharf near Birkenhead. She is a 0-4-0 tank by the name of "Lively Polly" and I want to model her. Unfoutionetly I've come up dry on so many of my searches for information about her. As well I have only found 4 photos of her. Anyone have any clues where I can search? I'm wanting to also figure out her pulling power prototipicly so I know what kind of trains she could pull. But with so little information I can't even guess. Anyway any help would be appriceated. Thanks all, 844fan
