  1. If you click on the picture it will take you to the flickr page with details/comments
  2. Now First Class Kits https://www.firstclasskits.co.uk Doesn't look like the full range of transfers are listed yet though
  3. IIRC the red stripe indicated Lithium grease
  4. M&M are no more, their owner retired. However the good news is the kits continue under new ownership https://www.firstclasskits.co.uk
  5. When they were new they didnt have limiters, and were capable of a lot more than 60! However not many of us were willing to go too far or do it too often as it was the first loco we had with a 'spy in the cab' After the limiters were fitted you simply drove them by opening the power handle fully, and when the speed got to 60 the loco shut off and when it dropped below 60 it opened up again, and you could carry on all day like that!
  6. My partner has a customer at her bank (again an old lady) who is genuinely called Fanny Bush !
  7. I don't know the area but it all looks normal to me. If you look in front of the loco you can see that the catch (trap if you prefer) point is turned away from the main line. My guess is that the crew are waiting for the DMU to clear so that they can get permission to open the ground frame and follow it or possibly to then continue shunting.
  8. A little while ago a group of us were talking about wireless doorbells in a house with an Alexa, and about ten minutes later I received an email from Amazon advertising wireless doorbells - so it was either an amazing coincidence or she was indeed listening!
  9. We didn't have a PTS card as such on DB, we had a Safety Critical work personal identification card which was issued when we had rules but it had a five year life - and in fact I still have one dated December 2021 even though I took early retirement over two years ago !
  10. And with a bit of luck they wouldn't stamp it either, so that you could return it unused and then do it all over again!
  11. Status pass! - not sure I should be talking to you Don't think my photo would scare anyone - it just makes people laugh when I show it!
  12. Not sure if you're aware but a retired priv card doesn't need photo ID - so if like mine your BR ID card has an embarrassing old photo from the seventies you can leave it in the drawer!
  13. Just had exactly the same thing from Amazon, with a delivery of a couple of razor saws! The driver was happy to accept a driving license as ID but he wrote down my DOB!
  14. AIUI you could indeed get an advert for porn but only if you've been looking at porn previously, but as the adverts are personalised only you would be seeing it and not everyone else - unless of course they'd been looking for porn too!
  15. Before the advent of RHTT trains when we had sandite locos , it was done by the driver via a switch on the drivers desk and there were trackside markers to show where to drop the sandite.
  16. The operator actually doesn't need to lean out of the window to control the jetting - just occasionally they have (or used to have) problems connecting the remote
  17. Yes alongside the driver there is an operator - not a member of the foc, it used to be serco but l finished a couple of years ago so not sure who they work for now ( Jim?), And that operator turns the jetting on and off according to a mileage tick sheet, via a remote control panel - which they often have to hold out of the window to get a radio signal!
  18. My last tube was the same too, had to throw it away and bought AK modelling putty instead which seems ok so far
  19. Got it up and running now, to be honest I doubt it'll save much as I know where the off switches are! However it's interesting seeing what uses what, I can't believe how much the kettle uses, and as an ex railwayman I need a cup of tea at least every five minutes!
  20. Your post has just cost me £40! I've always liked the idea of a smart meter to see where the money's going but didn't want one because the reasons in this thread, but I didnt know these monitors existed until you posted, so I've just been to Amazon and bought one. So thanks for spending my money for me! Hopefully I'll get it back in savings
  21. Some car paints actually come with a little brush in the cap so that you can decant a bit and use it as touch up paint.
  22. https://www.networkrailmediacentre.co.uk/news/drivers-warned-to-not-jump-the-barriers-at-essex-level-crossings
  23. The brakes can be applied from the rear cab without a key, and other things could be played around with such as the AWS etc, but if someone cannot be trusted to be left alone in the rear whilst doing a run round/shunt then they shouldn't be on the foot plate at all!
