  1. Derek posted a much more comprehensive answer than mine above:
  2. I asked Eileen's about this recently (well, more specifically solvents and flux) - Derek replied that they could, but if it was considered 'dangerous' it would have to go by courier rather than mail.
  3. My local big Sainsbury's has the Modeller and Hornby magazine - they used to have BRM, but stopped selling that some time ago (Andy, go and give them a socially distanced good talking to!)
  4. As an added precaution, the contents get a wipe down with anti-viral wipes (as, where possible, does anything that comes back from the shops).

The group in my area have been pretty good at leafleting - if we should need it, we've got one stuck on the fridge now offering Picking up shopping, posting mail, keeping in touch via phone, topping up meters and walking the dog. I think our group started as an offshoot of the local area Facebook citizens group (a group I subscribed to for a while, but had to unsubscribe when it was stressing me too much with its continual reporting of local crime!)
  6. If current measures don't work, this is the government's plan B to keep us in our houses.

If you're in the vulnerable group or self-isolating with, or suspected of having the virus, is there a local covid-19 support group in your area that can do a shopping run for you?
  8. We've had a few things from Amazon in the last week, we've been opening the packages at the front door and putting cardboard packaging straight into the outside recycling bin, and then having a good handwash immediately afterwards.
  9. One thing I've been wondering: When UK deaths are announced those unfortunate people have usually been described as having 'an underlying condition'. While guidelines list underlying conditions, it would be interesting to see the statistics of fatality and serious covid-19 morbidity for different underlying conditions. It's a bit worrying that my parents (age about 80 - an underlying condition in its own right? and my dad with what I consider other underlying conditions) still do their own supermarket runs. I wonder whether there's a sense of 'oh well, their underlying condition was probably worse than mine' keeping people from self-isolating for their own good. Would a breakdown of underlying condition statistics allow people to better understand their personal risks? (on the other hand I have doubts about the general population's understanding of statistics, and it may lead to complacency instead)
  10. If I wanted infighting and silly jibes I would have started a thread about 00 gauge standards.
  11. I had a weak tooth that had been giving occasional trouble until it cracked beyond repair (right down the middle!) about a month ago - glad it happened then and I had it out in February, rather than it hanging on to crack now!
  12. Those Hell's Grannies are up to no good again...
  13. My area has a local group on Facebook that has just set up a local community help group like this.
  14. ... while Jehovah's Witnesses are rubbing their hands with glee knowing everyone is stuck at home.
  15. Even if you don't have GPS on your phone, whenever it's switched on, it will regularly be talking to local cell towers (it has to do this so if someone calls you, the call can be routed to a cell in range of your phone) so your location can still be approximately tracked.
  16. I see the sudoku has a print option so you don't have to do it on the computer.
  17. Self Isolation - it's not rocket science... ... or maybe it is. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/home-in-the-cosmos/201902/astronauts-open-about-depression-and-isolation-in-space
  18. Even in a crisis it seems nobody wants the mushy peas!
  19. Surely within any commercial organisation your freedom of speech only extends as far as the editorial restrictions the organisation wants to impose. I'm sure there are plenty of things you could write on this site that the mods would rightly take issue with even if you might think you have a right to say them under 'freedom of speech'.
  20. She might have had a point - since then it's got nippy enough to warrant a jumper and long trousers, and she's having an afternoon nap.
  21. SWMBO looked at me working from home in a t-shirt and shorts and said 'Is it summer already?' I looked at SWMBO working from home in pyjamas and dressing gown and said 'Is it bedtime already?'
  22. I took a shower straight after seeing the postman. Overcautious? Actually he just happened to be at the door when I came back from my 'commute' and was a bit sweaty. We have decided though where possible to open packaging at the front door rather than bring it into the house. Now that we're switching to working from home, I'm replacing my hour's commute on the tube with a half hour brisk walk around my local park (hence the shower) - fortunately just across the road from my house.

I spent the day alone in the Billy bookcase section of Ikea... I thought I was supposed to go into shelf isolation.
