  1. More interestingly it's clear be made no attempt to brake as well, Lewis gets just past him and then brakes but Max just keeps going, at that speed he just wouldn't have made the corner regardless, though that's also clear from the overhead shots they had at the time, it just confirms it. Anyhow lets see what happens when the review it.
  2. Yes and Horner was quiet as well in the post race interview... I don't think they do, the way DC and the other chap were talking at the end of the race it would seem they expect everyone to run on the same engines for the rest of the season...
  3. Rather an appropriate name on the front, though perhaps for the train rather than the van!
  4. I love your optimism, though no doubt we'll get one shortly, I can't remember the bridge bash one having many recent entries either! Tempting fate?!
  5. No I am not trying to split hairs, when taking into account the biggest system the definition is the company who runs it, that's it, that's how they define it, I don't make up the rules so if you have an issue with that perhaps you need to discuss it with them! I asked you for proof earlier on, and also provided details of other, longer, networks in Europe but I forgot all about the biggest, namely the SNCV, Belgian Vicinal network, operated by one company and interconnected, mostly meter gauge with some 1067mm and at one point extending to nearly 2500 miles! Have a nice day!
  6. No problem at all with that, it's what I've been saying all along! It's what I pointed out in relation to the railways per 1923 in that area...
  7. Probably as well, Melmerby, though in answer to your question, No, that does not make them the same system, just as the pre 1923 railways in Birmingham and the Black Country, though all interconnected and having some trains than ran "through" were not part of the same system. Each company had it's own network and that's what is taken into account when looking at the largest, or smallest, come to that.
  8. But it wasn't part of ONE system, though, it was several separate systems which were interconnected. That's how it's measured, on individual systems, for instance, Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton all being separate entities. All the railways in that area were all connected as well but that doesn't make them the same network, just interconnected. Many places in Europe are the same. Can you show me your evidence is for your claim, please.
  9. To try to put the tram debate to some sort of conclusion I've been trying to find out lengths/gauges but it's proved rather difficult. There's a list of all current tram systems and their lengths and gauges on Wiki but the closed list is not as helpful, lacking that information, nor do they give much history. The Birmingham Corporation Network was just over 80 miles (129.6km) and Wiki lists it as the 4th longest network in the UK and the largest NG tramway network in the UK (they haven't said the World or even Europe). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_Corporation_Tramways The Stuttgart network is currently 131km and SG but was converted from metre gauge around 40 years ago so that at least would seem to have been longer in NG form (it might well have had additional lines now closed, but I can't find out). It also has many similarities to the BCN in that it serves several towns in the area as well as the main city and it's suburbs. Of the closed ones I picked one at random, knowing the city quite well, Aachen, and found that it was metre gauge and it's route length was 181km and was the fourth largest in Germany, so that's probably put it to bed simply with that statistic! Talking of Polish networks the current longest NG network (metre gauge) is in Lodz at 124km, but again I can't find out if that was the limit of the network or if they've closed some lines over the years which would have made it longer. Put it this way, our current UK networks are peanuts compared with the rest of Europe! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tram_systems_by_gauge_and_electrification
  10. I'm disappointed, he didn't kick the tyres as well!
  11. They said it was "unsportsmanlike" behaviour, though I didn't think that they'd talked of disqualification for Max, just the Mercedes car, though they did want a word with him about what he did. There are official channels that teams and drivers can go through if they have an issue with another driver's car, doing what he did isn't one of them!
  12. Those extra 3 inches make a heck of a difference in what you can transport on the railways. 2ft 6ins / 760mm /750mm gauges are believed to be the narrowest gauge where you can safely transport SG vehicles on transporter wagons or bogies so there is a big difference between the Polish 750mm railways and the Talyllyn!
  13. I agree, Wickham, I read it as relating just to trams, as he'd have surely known that there are some massive NG railway networks out there... However i also said in a later post that I suspected many of the Continental metre gauge tram networks would have been bigger than the Black Country network in their heyday, so perhaps just the largest NG tram network in the UK is the safest bet!
  14. But the question was whether the vaccine can trigger it, which like Torper below I find unlikely. Being hereditary is debateable as well, my wife got her Type 1 before her mother got diagnosed Type 2, but there are no other known instances of it in the family. Lots of things can trigger diabetes, Type 1 and 2, perhaps the diet of some people being cooped up all day triggered it. The fact is they don't know what causes it, just like the SPS my wife got about 5 years after becoming Type 1. I feel that people these days always seem to need to blame something, anything, for when something goes wrong with their health when most times it's either their lifestyle that causes it or just one of those things. There are groups of people who are known to be at higher risk of diabetes but that usually more to to do with their lifestyle than anything else, for the rest it's just one of those things. Blaming it on the Covid vaccine seems like desperation to me, and seems unlikely for 99.9999% of the population. There would be very few left MPs in the House if you applied those rules, Neil! (I agree with the sentiment, BTW!)
  15. In effect we are starting to do just that with the ban on the unvaccinated being allowed to do "Care" type jobs (and possibly the NHS). TBH I feel that everyone has a responsibility for the general health of everyone else, especially the vulnerable, so I see no issue in banning those who can be vaccinated but choose not to from such jobs. Whether I'd go as far as "house arrest", no I wouldn't in the "present situation", as you put it. Yesterdays on the BBC News they gave a lot of air time to some woman who'd just worked her last shift in a care home because she wouldn't get vaccinated (rather than couldn't because of health reasons). I remember saying to SWMBO that I had no sympathy whatsoever with her and felt they gave her far too much air time. As we use Carers when I'm at work and my wife is vulnerable I have no sympathy at all with such people who are willing to put others' lives at risk because of their own feelings/beliefs. Maybe that's a little strong for some people but that's the way I feel, if you want to put you're own health at risk, then that's fine, when it affects mine and others then it's not.
  16. Look at the email address, that will tell you if its genuine. It does seem luck of the draw, when I booked a walk-in I was offered four within 10 miles and many more within 20.
  17. Satnav said "Turn Right"... So they did... Simples...
  18. Couldn't they just block one side of the M25 and use that?!
  19. 87/84 for Worcestershire, 89/85 where I live, Wyre Forest, 67% of 18/24s have had their second dose as well.
  20. Having holidayed in both many times over the last 15 years (and not in the capital cities but in towns and cities around the countries) I wouldn't say they are particularly similar. Belgium I've found has attitudes similar to the UK and that's reflected in their driving and the general state of the place whereas The Netherlands is much more regimented, very clean and tidy and more like Germany (though I'm not sure they'd appreciate that comparison!).
  21. It's a long time since I had one of the 1099s so TBH I don't know, I tend to avoid Peco's 9" curves anyhow, Roco's 10.5" are my minimum. According to the spiel the double Fairlie will indeed go round 9"... I suppose it's appropriate as that's what they were designed for...
  22. Heljan certainly are 12" but Roco will go round sharper, even the 0-8-0 Engerths (I have two!). I think you might be thinking of the Bemo whitemetal collection of steam locos, Bemo specify a minimum radius of 300mm. It's the usual advice to any beginner, us the largest radii you can, and also avoid dead frog (insulfrog) points if possible!
  23. TBH it's not a question of what you buy but what you want to use as a minimum radius that will decide your choice. The Crazy Track 12" radius RH and LH and 18" radius Y points and the Mainline 15" radius points are ALL electrofrog. The set track 9" radius points are BOTH dead frog (insulfrog). So if you want sharp radii points you have no choice but to use insulfrog unless you make your own!
  24. Really? That's not what I see, plenty of people still wearing masks and keeping distance... Just a personal observation, mind, just like yours... This perhaps is a better read on the UK rather than just looking at those stats in that article: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-59179219 At the end he says this, which perhaps summarises the situation the best: "It's an extremely complex picture and very hard to predict what is going to happen" What's much more relevant to highlight in that article is this comment: "Germany's health minister has publicly blamed those people for the soaring cases, describing the current situation as a "pandemic of the unvaccinated"." Which, I'd suggest is much closer to the mark for both (all?) countries than my or your personal observations which are mere snapshots in time.
