  1. Good morning everyone When I switched on the iPad this morning, there had been another bl00dy update, consequently most of the icons I want on my Home Screen had disappeared or been moved somewhere else, pah, pah and double pah! So another 20 minutes looking for where they’d been hidden, so I could either put them back where I want them, or download the ones that had been deleted. Then Sheila wanted me to place an order for some of her medication at Boots, there webshite decide that my email address and password weren’t correct, oh yes they fecking are! It took me about 25 minutes to complete the task, it would have been quicker to walk to the shop to do it, pah again. So, now the weather is looking decidedly dodgy, very dark and grey skies, but I’m going to chance it and attempt to do a bit of gardening. Back later Brian

  5. Good evening everyone Today was a bit like yesterday, in that I was treated to breakfast in bed again. After which, I decided to go straight outside and take advantage of the sunshine and do some more work in the garden. This time I was working in the back garden, so I opened up the workshop and listened to some music. Quite a mixture today, I started off with a bit of Kate Bush, this was followed by some Free and finally a bit of Cream. The neighbours on both sides had gone out, so I was able to crank up the volume to 11! After dinner, I decamped to the workshop and did a bit more work on the small industrial locomotive I’m working on. Modifications to the coupling and connecting rods were done. When finished, they were all fitted and the chassis was rolled on the workbench to see if there were any more issues. Thankfully there were none, so the last part of the brake gear was fitted. Work then turned to the footplate, where I want to do some more modifications, this area of work isn’t yet finished. Just about to sit down with a well earned muggertea before switching on the idiots lantern to watch the news. I know I shouldn’t really, as there’s never any good news, but it does keep us up with what’s going on in the world.

  11. Good morning everyone A bit late on parade today due to having a bit of a lie in and breakfast in bed. I had a quick look in earlier this morning, but then went straight outside to make the most of the sunshine and do a bit of gardening. Some more plants have been put in the front garden and I've also done a quick tidy up. Now sat in the shade of the front door enjoying a well earned muggertea. After dinner Max is due round, an afternoon in the workshop is planned. Back later. Brian

  14. Good morning everyone It’s very wet and soggy out there today, so there’ll be no outside activities today. But, then again, none were planned, as we will shortly be setting off to collect Vickie, Ava and Evie before we head off for our monthly visit to our favourite cafe for a drink and a slice, what’s not to like? After that, we’ll drop Vickie and Evie back home and Ava will come back to ours for the rest of the day. The only thing we’ve got planned is to finish making the fruit tea loaf which I began last night and is currently soaking in a bowl. Bestgetamoveon, back later. Brian

  16. Good morning afternoon everyone We got up a little bit later than planned, so it was a bit of a rush first thing. Then when I opened the iPad, there had been another bl00dy update! Warning rant coming. Whenever there is an update, for some reason all the apps etc I’ve got on my home page move about or get deleted, even ones I use regularly and they constantly add apps that I don’t want, so I then have to delete them. If I wanted them added, moved or re-arranged, I can do it myself, I don’t need bl00dy Apple to do it for me. So this took up about 20 minutes to sort out, pah. Anyway, once done, I headed off to the butchers and got the weekly meat rations and a pork pie for my dinner. After that, I headed off to the Trafford Centre for a few more bits and pieces. Now sat at the table in the dining room with a well earned muggertea. Back later. Brian

  18. Good evening everyone Well I had partial success setup the new digibox recorder thingy, it works and I was able to set up recordings and play them back. What I’ve not been able to do is set up the Chromecast element of it. After about 30 minutes of trying to set it up, I gave up and made myself a muggertea, I’ll try again in the next day or so. Once my tea was made, I carried on making the buildings for my micro layout. After dinner Charlie came round and he and I then spent the afternoon in the workshop. He brought a new kit with him to make, whilst I continued working on the industrial loco for my micro layout. Today I completed the brake rigging and I was able to fit and remove the brake shoes as a complete unit. I then fitted the coupling rods and connector rods and found that they foul up when rotated. So, after a bit of head scratching, I decided to dismantle one of joints where the connecting rod meets the cross head. I then gradually reduced the size of the both parts of the joint and then re soldering it up again. It took a couple of try’s, but I eventually got one side done and working, I just need to do the other side now.
