  1. Good morning everyone It was very sunny when I got up, but it’s turning a bit grey now, I hope I don’t get wet when I walk to the butchers shortly. Before that though, I’ll have to play hunt the wheelie bin, as the bin men NEVER return our bin to the front gate. After the butchers I’ll take a short trip to the Trafford Centre for a few more bits and pieces. After that I’ve got a free afternoon, so what’s not to like? Back later. Brian
  2. Good evening everyone Our visit to the eye hospital was good. Sheila’s vision in the operated eye is now better than the un-operated eye. Both Sheila and the doctor are very pleased with this, they didn’t expect such good results so soon, especially as it is less than 3 months since her operation. She is now on a plan to reduce her medication. Starting tomorrow, she reduces her eye drops down to 3 a day instead of 4. Next month she’ll drop them down to 2 drops a day and the following month, down to 1 drop a day. This is the dose she’ll remain on for life. She has also been told she is now on no restrictions whatsoever, so things are truly getting back to normal.
  3. Indeed. But how many folk know the difference between a spade and a shovel? Or even how many know there is a difference?

  7. All the excess flooring is now safely stored in the underfloor storage area. This is accessed by the small hatch in the cellar. Once done, I rearranged the order of the boxes, so that the 2 boxes, 1 containing all the track and the other points are near the front, so I don't have go back into the storage area to get them! They are literally just behind the door! Next week I'll do another tip run, as there are now a couple of items that are surplus to requirements.
  8. Thanks, but Sheila ALWAYS carries her sunglasses with her, regardless of the weather conditions!

  10. Good morning everyone I did get up early this morning (honest), but small tasks, refilling soap bottles emptying the recycling bags etc, just seem to have got in the way of getting on here. So I've finally made it downstairs and onto the computer. There isn't much planned for today, well this morning to be honest, as Sheila has a 4 o'clock appointment at the eye hospital, so we'll need to leave home aboutb2:30 to give us plenty of time to find a parking space and walk to the clinic. So this morning is just a case of some unspecified pottering in the cellar railway room. I've thought of a suitable place to store the excess flooring, it can go where I am currently storing all my boxes of track, as I'll be using that in the not too distant future! I just need to move a couple of boxes first. Back later. Brian
  11. Good evening everyone With the exception of the small door/hatch, I’ve now finished painting the woodwork in the cellar, so to all intents and purposes, the refurbishment is complete, so I now have a model railway room. However, I’ve also decided to repaint the main internal door, as it looks a little yellow, when compared to the new paint that has recently been applied. But then again, it’s from a different manufacturer, so that may be the reason. Regardless of that fact, I’ll repaint to make it blend in better and I’ll do this when I do the small door later in the year, probably early summer.

  15. Good morning everyone A rather dull and wet start to the day here in England’s northwest corner. However, this will not prevent me from applying the final coat of paint to the cellar woodwork. All that remains to be done is the small door/hatch, which needs a bit of repair work done and a repaint. But I’ll do that outside in the summer. Best get in with it, back later. Brian
  16. Good evening everyone The final stage of the cellar is now all but complete. The woodwork had its first top coat of paint today. From what I saw late this afternoon when I was inspecting it, it all looked good, so I may well get away with just the one coat. I’ll give another good look in proper daylight tomorrow morning, just to make sure. Although I may well just give it a second coat anyway. I even managed to get the window blind trimmed and fitted this afternoon too. ION Whilst I was at the sink in the kitchen this afternoon, I spotted a couple of robins, who seemed to be to-ing and fro-ing from a particular part of the hedge. So I think they may be looking for a nesting spot or building a nest. Sheila is quite excited by this news.

  19. Good morning everyone The weather can’t make its mind up at the moment, one minute the sun is shining, the next the sky is dark and looks as though it could rain at any minute. So, I’ve decided to stay inside today and make a start putting some top coat on the cellar woodwork. I normally give this sort of thing 2 coats, so I expect to get one done today and the last one tomorrow or Thursday. Well, that brush (unfortunately) won’t operate itself, so I’d best get on with it. Back later. Brian
  20. Try Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and M&S. I’ve not tried other supermarkets so they may also sell them.
