  1. That set looks lovely! I think I might have to get one. Shame I cannot pay with PayPal .
  2. The model hasn't even reached CAD stage yet nor is there is a pre-order option on his site as I am waiting to place my expression of interest for the OO gauge version of the model. So its a bit early to say that . Besides you (and some others here) are missing the point. My standards are high but are reasonable and having own a few models with metal parts like handrails and horns on them. It makes the models look much better in my opinion. This new Class 92 to sport those mentioned parts within the production margin is viable/possible judging at the pictures of the Class 71 that I have seen on his website that HAS metal handrails. So if that is anything to go by then Dave WILL be getting my custom and metal horns on the roof will make that Class 92 even better . I am coming off the roundabout now as my views are quite clear and concise and are not condescending. I am off down the pub now for meal and a pint and a bit of train photography. So I will catch you all later .
  3. To YesTor: I agree that things like metal horns and handrails look nicer than plastic and to be honest. When a premium locomotive is going to cost over £150 each. Metal parts like horns and handrails should be as standard as they do look more crisp. I don't think he being passive agressive. But when a premium model is going to cost over £150. Using metal for horns and handrails isn't going to hurt and I would be happy to pay for metal parts to have a better looking model in the end. I have suggested illuminated gauges in the cab consoles to Dave as well as some other features. But he hasn't acknowledge my suggestions. So wether he has taken my suggestions into account or not is his choice. I won't lose any sleep over it. All in all, if his Class 92 meets my expectations. I will buy it, but if not. I will take a pass and wait for someone else to produce one instead as I am the customer and a professional business will listen to their customers. Having done a business course myself, it is the customer that keeps a company in business. I can take constructive feedback and positive feedback and I know that no matter how hard one will try. You won't please everyone but my suggestions I made to Dave are realistic ones in terms of metal pantographs, horns and handrails as metal parts for those features will make a better product. However my suggestions are positive and constructive ideas such as using metal parts for some bit and bobs is because it will make the model look much higher quality and besides that. Metal is already used for wheels, pick ups etc on the innards of all model trains anyway for obvious reasons. So I don't think the cost of metal would be much more than plastic for finer detail parts like horns, handrails. brake pipes etc. Personally I don't mind about the brake pipes and the cosmetic chainlink couplers being plastic as those parts being plastic will be easier to fit and they do have a bit of flex. But a blob of plastic that looks like a horn that I have seen on some model trains in the past is no substitute for metal horns no matter how people look at that situation . Clearly there is people here that are happy to accept plastic for the horns and handrails and I don't personally have a problem with that as its their choice. But when a NEW model train is going to exceed £150. Metal pantographs, horns and handrails should be standard as I have seen other companies use metal horns and handrails on other model trains that I own and they do look a lot nicer than plastic and the cost isn't much different from the prices I have paid for model trains .
  4. Well if it works then I will buy the model if it meets my standards. But for me. Metal parts just look much nicer and more crisp than plastic. Just saying.
  5. Why not? Seriously brass is more robust than plastic. So why not? The Hornby Class 60's use plastic horns and they can break off quite easily through handling, wear and tear. As where brass/metal is more robust and also its a premium model. So I don't see why not go for better quality parts and have a nicer product. Personally I think it will make the model look better. For the record. I know Dave is going to add most of the features that I have wished for but I was too lazy to edit them out, so that's my bad I guess. Anyway I like cab lights because I think they do look cool at depots and stations and it is a feature that I love to see on layouts in "twilight" mode. So long as they can be disabled with a DCC function or a throw switch, that should make everyone happy as it will be there for those that want it. As for those that don't want cab lights can simply turn them off. Then everyone will be happy .
  6. I know he is going to put a lot of work into this Class 92. But I thought I would throw some more ideas his way to help him out .
  7. To DJM Dave, Can I give you some suggestions for the features of this new model you are proposing if you don't mind please. As I would like to help in a positive way if I can as I am seeking a brand new Class 92 with loads of power to either match or exceed that of the Hornby Class 60 with the mouth-watering detail similar to that of the APT-E that came out earlier in the year and I am willing to pay good money for a decent replica. As these brutes from what I have seen over the years haul a lot of wagons behind them and I am looking to stick one of these at the front of a long car transporter train of around 25 wagons that I am building up for a club layout. If I may, here is my proposal of features for the new Class 92 model that you might take into consideration . 21 Pin DCC Ready OR DCC Fitted Legomanbiffo Sounds Working Directional Lights With The Possibility Of Full Functionality Under DCC Painted Brass Horns Painted Brass/Metal Pantographs Sprung Painted Buffers NEM Couplers Heavy Metal Chassis Central 5 Pole Can Motor With Flywheel Drive All Wheel Drive Detailed Cab Interior With Illuminated Gauges (Speedometer, Brake) And Cab Lights Easy Access To Cab Interiors To Add Crew/Driver Etc. I know I am probably pushing out the boat for this and also I know that some of the features you have mentioned will be included anyway but rather than try to edit things about. I thought it would be simpler to just send you my ideas and suggestions that might guide you on making this locomotive. Also where and when can I register my interest in this model? As I am very serious in buying one of these Class 92's and in particular I would like a DB Schenker red one and a Serco Caledonian Sleeper one which would make me two please. For numbers. I would like 92009 "Marco Polo" for the DB Schenker model and 92038 for the Serco Caledonian Sleeper model please.
  8. I will most likely get 90042 as I do like that Freightliner livery on that locomotive and in my opinion. It sure does look nicer than the original Green/Yellow version but that is just my preference .
  9. I personally would be very interested in a Class 180 or a Class 185 because as far as I am aware. No one else has covered those model trains up to yet and it would add something different to the market. In terms of the liveries, the Class 185 has only even worn three versions of the FTPE livery. But for the Class 180. There is a growing number to make that high speed DMU more viable and I will post the summary below. The Class 180 Adelante First Great Western (2000-2008) Grand Central Railway (2009-present) First Hull Trains (2008-present) First Great Western Dynamic Lines (2008-present) Northern Rail (2008-present) GWR? (Not sure if this livery is real or not as I have only seen one in Train Simulator, so it might not exist in reality - I don't know) Class 185 First "Barbie" Livery (2006 short-lived) First Dynamic Lines (2006-present) Trans-Pennine 2016 Livery https://www.flickr.com/photos/37190-dalzell/26142317756 So that should help if Charlie/RealTrack Models are looking to make a new DMU/Railcar for the OO gauge market. Also perhaps an N gauge model could be viable if there was enough demand.
  10. Like with the Bachmann Class 150. I am sure the wait will be worth while .
  11. Now that's what I call an ace model in my opinion . I am so getting one but I would be happy to wait and see a polished model that runs without flaws rather than something that is rushed and has bugs . I was always taught that the best things come to those that wait and I am certain that the wait for this will be well worth it. Also it will be less strain on my bank account as at this rate with all these lovely models coming out. I might have to sell the telly and re-mortgage the doghouse to pay for these little gems that are a coming. However shoving one of those beasts on a rake of ex-W&S Mk3's is going to be epic on the layout anyway I think. A sound fitted version is certainly going to be a froth hazard as I love my trains nice and throaty! .
  12. Put me down for a OO gauge version . EDIT: I will take a DB Schenker and a Serco Caledonian Sleeper versions please. So that makes 2 for me.
  13. I will try to get an order in for 10 wagons then. I would have thought though that considering all the investment of the tooling and that involved. I was under the impression that RT and RVT would make these wagons as their regular range as similar to what has been done with the Realtrack Models intermodal range . Ah well, I will just take the slow line to getting what I need as a rake of 30 wagons is going to set me back around £1200 for a rake and its not something I can cough up in one go . So I will just settle for 10 that will make it about £400 instead . Shame that Hattons, Rails of Sheffield or Trains4U etc couldn't stock them .
  14. Having just read through all the topic to catch up as its been a while since I have been due to jounting around on real trains and enjoying myself. I have missed the deadline but I don't have any problem paying full whack because those wagons are lovely and I am so pleased that these wagons will be soon available in OO gauge as then I can gradually build up a rake of 10 to start with to a rake of 30 VTG blue ones as I have seen them at Barnetby at times behind a 66. Also I saw some unbranded ones behind 60096 on Friday at Leicester station as I wanted a nice shot of that Colas 60 in the sun and I got it. Now if Hornby could do a regular DB Schenker Class 60 and a Colas 60. These lovely wagons would make a nice oil train behind those locomotives. Here is some photos for ideas . Class 60, Colas Rail 60096 by BritishRail60062, on Flickr Class 66, EWS/DB Schenker 66162 by BritishRail60062, on Flickr Class 60, DB Schenker 60020 "The Willows" by BritishRail60062, on Flickr That one only had 6 TEA tanks on the back, so if you have a small layout. Two triple packs would suffice if limited spaces. Class 60, DB Schenker 60100 by BritishRail60062, on Flickr That one had 30 tanks on the back but I couldn't get a head on shot because there was passengers on the other platform and I don't like to get people in my shots if I can help it . But I am going to order a pack of 3 VTG blue ones to get me started and I will buy more to grow my oil train as when time and funds permit me to do so . Also time to get myself a couple of Code 3 repainted DB Schenker 60's and a Colas 60 in time for this project as I want my oil train to look "right" and modern.
  15. I am sure there is a reason for this. I remember when the first Class 150's was announced in 2006 and they didn't come out until mid 2009. I remember when the Class 150's were first announced in 2006 and they didn't come out until 2009. Maybe they have issues with development of this locomotive. But I am happy to wait for a decent Class 90 model that has enough poke to pull a decent train and looks right. Rather than the model getting rushed out and being slapped for inaccuracies in the reviews online and by the model railway press. But to be honest though, any company should not be immune from criticism where it is warranted. But keeping on topic. I am sure the wait will be well worth it. People just need to be patient . Anyway it gives me longer time to save up and gorge on all three of them! .
  16. I hope things will turn for the better and a positive outcome will ensue once Hornby get on top of the matter.
  17. Having seen the images of the two versions. I do like the models as they do look rather "tasty" (am I allowed to use that word here?) and the packaging looks nice in that shade of blue as well. I still cannot make up my mind if to buy 4 or not. Although I think I would need to win the Euromillions to own a rake of 25 to go behind 60066! As that would be some serious cash! (GULP) .
  18. I remember when Bachmann announced their Midland Blue Pullman at the RRP of £349.99 back in 2011/2 and the hype back then was "Its too steep, I'm not paying that". But when they came out, Bachmann just couldn't keep up with the demand and the Nanking Blue set now fetches in excess in excess of £400 for a used set. So to be honest buddy. I wouldn't believe what people always say because when the product finally comes out. People often change their minds .
  19. I bet when some of these make it to eBay. The prices are going to be even more eye-watering! .
  20. What a beauty there mate! Totally agree mate, although my skills with paintnet is not that good unfortunately , so I will have to leave it to someone else that is a professional with photoshopping .
  21. Hello John, I have to agree with you on this. But the reason I suggested different running numbers is because although it would be the same tooling. The alternative numbers would keep the value more on the original run and knowing the extreme purists, they would probably want every variant to make an accurate train. But for me and most others here. I am happy to just have the four behind my 60 as my layout would look cramped with anymore than that to be honest mate. Kind Regards Ash.
  22. Maybe drax should have chosen a Class 66 in their branding to match the wagons if this is the case .
  23. Just a thought here. I know that £83 per wagon is somewhat new heights. But as this is a new venture by Drax/Hornby. If there is enough demand and the first 100 run is completely exhausted. Maybe they might consider another production run with alternative numbers on them to avoid duplicating the original wagons at a larger production run with a lower price. I am just happy with getting two of each version for £332 to match my 60066 that I will be getting from R3Sprays at the end of the month . As for those that will no doubt crop up on eBay, I remember the days when the old Lima GM 201 class locomotives were going in excess of £500 in 2007/8. So new price records might be world record breakers .
