  1. Great idea but what is betting that if I went into all that trouble that Bachmann would announce a 150/0 at the time I was near to completing my conversion. In 2009 I bought a Mk3 kit and in 2010, bam here comes a all singing and all dancing RTR Mk3 DVT that would make my model kit laughable . I think I will just settle for a hybrid by using a 150/2 unit for the centre car like their did in the West Midlands .
  2. I am looking at building something based around Barnetby that uses Class 153's, Class 185's for passenger trains hence my wee suggestion for the Class 185's and this model railway will be called "Bloomfield Lea Road" once I get the project into production. But the layout will have a twist because I will run some Class 60's that would be modified into my livery with the CAF Mk5's attached to them. Therefore I can do a what is real and what is not . Though if Accurascale did some TDA tank wagons in Murco and Rusted metal. I don't think I am allowed to suggest TEA tankers in VTG because Revolution Trains/Rapido Trains has already done those. I am a fair person and I would happily settle for a rake of 30 TDA bogie tanks from these folks as then I can have a model of the Heathrow-Lindsey oil train when it was operated by Colas Class 60's before it moved over to gargoyles (aka Class 70's) .
  3. Personally I would love to have a prototype Class 150/0 as 150002 in the GWR livery as only two of those existed as the others were a hybrid mix of 150/1 and 150/2's which is possible to make with the existing Bachmann 150 packs that are available but the centre cars of 150001 and 150002 are non cab fitted and the cab doors on the driving ends are sliding door like with the 150/2's.
  4. Well that sums that up nicely! I shall be getting some for my collection that I can hopefully pass onto my children when I extend my family.
  5. I think I am going to be on a shopping binge for the Coca-Cola as that Christmas tanker train behind a Hornby Class 60 for my Christmas video this year (well that's the plan) is going to be epic!
  6. That looks like a great place to visit! Thanks for the video Andy and Phil! .
  7. Great news to hear from Bachmann. I have most of the Hornby models of the main character trains from 1980's and they will do me just fine. But I hope that Bachmann will make Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James and Percy as train sets aimed at the younger generations to get them into the hobby as I strongly believe that most of us started off into the model railway hobby that we love and enjoy from a Thomas train set. I got mine in 1985 when Hornby first brought theirs out and its great to see that Bachmann will be filling the void in 2020. I hope that Bachmann will make new models into our OO scale and not just repackage the HO scale models that are already out .
  8. I would apply but I live in Derry and its too far away :(.
  9. Overall my Hornby Class 60's do behave themselves with the older wider loop Lima Bogie Tank wagons on my Kato track. But the narrower coupling loops with some of the rolling stock and when shunting them into a siding, these couplers would not co-operate with the Hornby Class 60 and that would result in my Class 60 knocking them off the track. The 2006 Hornby Class 60's would play up with SWB wagons but the bogie wagons would work fine on the third and fourth radius track with no issues. I have not yet tried the buck-eye couplings personally. Are they any good?
  10. I am planning on getting mine in July. Might get another two to renumber as I like this livery the most outside the BR era.
  11. I am so looking to getting one of these new Class 92 models. With this and the new Mk5 packs to come. I am well in for a treat in 2020. I better start saving up but if I am allowed to throw another model suggestion their way. Can we have a TDA Tank Wagon in the Murco and the Rusted metal liveries please? I would have suggested a new Class 60 model in OO gauge with metal horns and footsteps with a 21pin DCC interface and cablights but we already have a decent model from Hornby. So instead, can I suggest a Class 185 Desiro that TPE operates?
  12. Those photos along of the complete TPE train would be a winner if Dapol were to make the CAF Mk5 carriages and the cabcar. I know it would kill my wallet because I need three rakes of them and I would have a couple of 68's to boot! .
  13. I would personally buy three rakes of the Mk5 carriages with the DT cab cars as I would have two in TPE livery although I would repaint one set into my own company livery as it would be something that would reflect my image if I were to have a Train Operating Company in the real world. I like the 3D Printed models that are available but for me, I would be too cack-handed to get a decent finish on them as I am just a amateur modeller to be honest. Taking that into account. I would prefer to buy a ready made model that I could plonk straight onto the track behind a locomotive and run it with a big grin on my face .
  14. Good points raised there on many factors. To be fair to Oxford Rail. They have yet to produce anything modern in terms of a locomotive. Be Diesel or Electric but I think they are trying the waters with the Mk3a as it was first introduced by BR in the early 1980's (I am not including the HST's here) to replace aging Mk1's and some of the large windowed Mk2's on the WCML at the time. They are planning to do Virgin Trains and maybe they might consider doing the ONE Anglia liveries. That said and the reason I am hoping that Dapol would consider making the Mk5's by CAF is because at present there is no modern passenger stock in OO gauge if I remember right although they do make N gauge Mk3's and the DVT in N scale. Taking that into account. I would love to see Dapol make the Mk5's just to see something different and the TPE Mk5's with the cab car unit at the other end with all the lights etc would look grand with their TPE Class 68 .
  15. I wonder if Hornby could make this as a Class 802 in the TPE livery as I think the TPE example is part of the new TPE "Nova" fleet for the operator? Or would the tooling need to be modified to make a Class 802? They look more or less the same to me.
  16. Hello everyone. For of all as a friendly note to the forum stuff. Please feel free to remove this topic if it has already been discussed before or if another thread like this exists. I would like the propose the possibility of Dapol to consider producing the CAF Mk5's in OO and N scale in their 2019 range and here is why. Dapol have announced a Class 68 in the TPE colours from what I have seen on social media and DJM are in the process of making a Class 92 in the majority of liveries available and that includes the Serco Caledonian Livery if I recall correctly? So at the present time. There are only two operators in the Mainline UK that have these CAF Mk5 carriages that are being tested as I speak metaphorically speaking. I understand that a lot of modellers that like the Steam and the BR era may not be interested in a model of such a modern sleek train. The Dapol Class 68 model must be popular for Dapol to announce a TPE Class 68. So therefore I think Dapol would have the newest train on the block in their bag that would appeal to the modern image modeller. The TPE version could include the driving trailer cab car that could the carriages could be sold as a pack or as individual items. Although the Serco Caledonian Sleeper carriages would be more viable to be sold individually as then it would give the modeller/user the flexibility to make a suitable sized train to fit their needs. As always. I welcome all positive and constructive feedback on this new rolling stock model proposal. All the best Ash.
  17. I wonder if we could have a "basic" version of the modern TEA tanker model? Being on a budget and planning ahead on the wagon shopping. side of things. The Revolution Trains/Rapido high end version is out of my range at the moment and I missed the pre-order time due to personal change of circumstances that was beyond my control. I would like to see one of the newer TEA tanker models in the Blue and Red Murco livery. I am willing to wait however .
  18. I think that is more than enough liveries to make this bus a viable model from Oxford. Not sure if anyone from ODC actually reads this topic. What I am going to do in a moment is contact Oxford models in regards to this model bus and propose this model bus idea of the East Lancs Atlantean to them for consideration. As shown here in evidence, I am not alone in wanting this as a model bus. A good note is that a few of these real buses are in preservation. So getting 3D scans for CAD designing should not be a problem for Oxford to obtain. If all of us that want this bus to become a model. We should all contact Oxford Diecast and persuade them to consider making this happen. As with most things, people power very often makes things happen and if Oxford sees enough demand and viability to make this model bus. They will add it to their range of models. Fingers crossed .
  19. I know I have been away from this topic for a wee while but I can think of a few liveries that the East Lancs Atlantean wore when they are kicking about. Some are obvious like WMT, Covvy and Blackpool Transport. However there are several other less known liveries such as: Lincolnshire RoadCar Morley's of Whittlesey Pilkingtons Sheffield Omnibus South Western Plymouth MTL Manchester Plus several others that have been snapped on flickr .
  20. I could vouch for the N gauge route. The only barrier is that I cannot see the fine detail so well as its so tiny . As for the OO gauge version of the Eurostar. If Rapido Trains are not interested in producing such trains. That is perfectly fine, but i was throwing a line for them to considering doing a Eurostar if anything . I will leave it there.
  21. So where are the intermediate articulated trailers available then? Those are the intermediate trailers where the Eurostar trains could be split in emergency situations if I remember correctly . Good question. I always wondered what happened to it to be honest as the HO scale model never really took off like the OO gauge Hornby one has . Each to their own taste and go for it mate if space permits for a Chunnel layout in OO gauge. On the flipside though. It appears to me that us modern image railway modellers are just being ignored to some extent because if it wasn't for Revolution Trains working in conjunction with Rapido Trains and the same with RealTrack Models. We would not even get a look in for the likes of a new modern TEA tanker, Class 156, Class 144 etc. Whilst I do appreciate a brand new wagon which a rake of those TEA tankers would look nice behind a Hornby Class 60. Surely something modern image with all the detailing and a decent weight with all wheel drive is not too much to ask? Or am I expected to wait until I reach my 60's to have a super detailed modern image model train that I had happy times riding on the real thing back in my 20's? I am not unreasonable by any means but this years range of British trains from Hornby and Bachmann has not inspired me at all . That is what got me thinking about European HO scale in the first place .
  22. The Class 373 was not only painted in Eurostar colours. But does anyone remember GNER White Rose? So three variants could be produced and the Class 373 would make a great British train in the GNER White Rose colours. I rode it in 2002 from Kings Cross to Leeds when GNER had them. However my memory is fading so I don't remember the fleetnumbers from the top of my head .
  23. What makes you think that? They are British trains because they run in Britain. The Class 373/374 operate in Britain which is what I am aiming at now. I realise that the HO European market would be too risky. But here is a couple of questions I would like to ask you. 1, Why rule out the Eurostar? 2, What makes you think that RT would not be interested in making a new Class 373 and a Class 374 in OO gauge? That's the spirit . I will be filling Hornby's pockets at Christmas when buying those two.TGV's .
  24. Just had another brainwave here. It might also be a safer bet for Rapido to consider these two trains as long as licences will not be a problem. I was thinking that as the European HO scale train market will be too much of a risk to make it viable. I wonder if Rapido Trains would consider making the Class 373 TMST Eurostar that is now also named as the E300 as an 8 OO gauge pack? Then for those that wanted to extend their sets with extra carriages etc. Perhaps RT could make extension packs with the articulated trailer cars? Something that Hornby has overlooked for the last 22 years and I think that if RT did make a new Class 373 with all wheel drive, directional lights and even illuminated interiors for the trailer cars as well as other functions like cab lights and a provision for DCC sound. The second new OO gauge train that RT could also consider producing in OO gauge would be the Class 374 Eurostar Siemens Velaro as that is the newest international train on the block. Although most people have various opinions about the ride quality and the design of the prototype that is their right to have. From a modelling point of view. This one could be a nice seller for RT as no one else currently produces the E320 at this time . Therefore I think this could be a good option to add an Inter-European train into the market in the form of OO gauge whilst adding something new for us to enjoy. Thanks for the info mate. Its about time that they should make a new Thalys as this will fit the bill nicely for my collection of streamlined trains . I hope they will make a new TGV Thalys PBA set in 2019 that uses the Reseau shaped powercars. I will be buying up some trailers in tow as it would be plain daft for me to overlook this .
