  1. Dear Simon....am I presuming Simon Castens????????....I am the owner of Dent/Dentdale which features in the most recent MRJ...so thank you for your supportive comments......which are heartening and uplifting. I can reassure you that the criticisms from Compound xxxx are so wide of the mark they are laughable. All I have done is remove one arch from Dent Head Viaduct...in every other aspect it is totally to scale, as I built it from the official drawing in Stations and Structures of the S & C, and enhanced the pillars with 7mm rugged stonework to match the prototype requirements. I have also conducted an on-site survey of the viaduct and taken 50 photographs to aid my cause. Is Compound xxxx the classic 'Armchair Modeller' who delights in finding fault....I'm not sure I have seen any evidence of his work?? Best Wishes, Ian

Thank you for your message, yes I am me....

Super layout, I love the S&C and models of it, and I think yours captures the feel of it very well,

I used to go up there every year with TRM in the 1980s, I must get back up there again soon.

      Best Wishes

It's more of a wheely office chair but it does have arms:

I'll just butt in quickly myself, given that Jeremy (Not) also mentioned me (those Northern trips were jolly good fun). I saw a very small part of Ian's layout 'in the flesh' last Saturday, when our area group (DRAG) had an 'indulgence day' at our usual premises (a splendid day of modelling, demonstrating, chin-wagging and tea-drinking). He brought along a small scenic module, which had Dent signalbox and the adjacent stables block on it. It was even better close-up than in the MRJ photos. Really high quality stuff.
