  1. Thanks butler ..As you say a thin slither of packing material, should do the trick ..however on the Dapol 68 it would appear to be the whole socket assembly that's dropping.!! Its a pity as the loco is fine in all other respects ....
  2. Hello folks; apologies if this is meant to be elsewhere...I have a Heljan 00 gauge class 33 loco ,as well as a Dapol class 68 that both suffer the same annoying problem : they both have NEM couplings that droop, to the point of almost touching the sleepers with the hook!! I don't wish to replace with a different type if at all possible ...just curious as to what can be done to fix the problem on what are in all other respects excellent models.. Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks.. Allan....
  3. Thanks RAF96 everything resembled and working fine now .
  4. Hi folks .problem resolved by trial and error ,thankfully without burning out the leds by connecting to the wrong terminals!!!! Thanks for dropping by anyway .......
  5. Hello folks.i have a bachman Arriva livery class 47/57 Loco purchased second hand . In the body it has roof mounted high intensity headlights ? Someone has cut the wires from the circuit board ..I can't work out where to connect them ? The board is marked E3275#PCBO8 and is a 21 pin type ....Any help would be welcomed . Thanks ..Allan
  6. Hi Peter ..I assure you the mother board fitted to this " old" chassis is certainly fitted with a 21 interface ....it is NOT fitted on the underside at all !! Just that the missing pin on the mounting block is not in the standard place you would expect it to be ..this means that a blanking plug has to be fitted " upside - down " ....!! Anyway ,not to worry ,it works that's the main thing .albeit apposed to all orher " newer" models !!!!
  7. Hi folks Thanks for the advise ,it would appear that it's just one of those strange things with this loco ...the sound chip is a 21pin without the speaker wired direct .. Curiously the PC board has the 21 pin SOCKET with the blanked off pin on the opposite corner to normal !!!! Meaning that a 21pin blanking plug had to be inserted with the BLOCK facing DOWNWARDS!!...... if this is done , the loco works well on anlouge and faces the same direction as all other loco' s...!!! THE LIGHTING CIRCUIT IS WIRED OPPOSITE TO NORMAL !! I placed a body from another class 60 I have onto this chassis ,only to find the lights won't work !!! No worries; as I have fitted it with a Liam body anyway ( no lights ) .... Thankyou for your kind replies ,but I will just have to make sure I place it on my layout the correct way around ,in this manner it works very well indeed with impressive sounds ... Thanks again . Allan
  8. Thanks Peter. I will check it out with another standard " non- sound " chip when I get a chance ..All the powercab says is " unable to read decoder " ,I hit the enter button anyway and it says " wait " while trying to give me version number etc Always the same result though ... " unable to read " .... Will change chips just for curiosity and see what happens ..thanks ..

  10. Hi Pete I have an NCE powercab ..it can't read the chip !! ..all other locomotives I have read and program without a problem ..so presumably there must be an issue with the decoder itself ??
  11. Hello folks, happy New year to you all .. I am sorry if this question has been addressed elsewhere before .. I have an odd problem with one of my old Hornby sound fitted block's..!! It's a class 60 fitted with sound ( V3:5 ) I would be guessing....if I place it on the track with the front cab the same direction as my other locks it stops running after a short burst ( if it runs at all ) but the sounds won't work !! .... If I lift it off the track and turn it end for end then try to run it ,all is fine .. This happens all the time with this loco ..I bought it some time ago second hand without a body .so can't comment on the lighting circuit !! Any ideas would be welcomed.. Many thanks Allan
  12. Thanks Roger .perhaps best left alone so as not to messup the wheel rev sync as you point out Many thanks from me .. Allan
  13. Hi gents ; I too have this factory sound fitted loco and would also be interested to leatn of any adjustments to CV's that could be made to achieve a silent delay free start..... I am in no way frustrated by this feature but intrigued as to whether it could be altered . Many thanks.
  14. Appologies for bad spelling .A mix of Prefictive text and my fingers hitting adjacent keys anf my mobile then locking the resultant " jumble" into itd memoey !! Memory even ....LOL very anoying.....

  16. Hi Cravensdmufan ... Its actually not been run on the layout as yet !! The short srction i used to video from, is actualky my seperate programing line ( i use an NCE powercab ) and its just 3 feet long !! So it can't be a power drop !! If wheels were that mucky, surely it wouldnt "crawl" for as far as it does without cuttong out almost immediately??...... Ave cleaned 'em just to be sure. Still puzzled !!! Thankyou. Anyways....... Allan
  17. Thankyou. Every mow and then the sound and lightd will stop , although the lico still kerps crawling ..!! Press F1. and all is well again with sounds and the ligjs come on again ( strange, ad they are on F0 )...i put this down to dirty track at first so cleaned it with track magic etc....the sound and lights " outage" still hapoens now and again !!! Run at a normal speed ( on my 3foot test track ) and it keeps its voice and lights !!! A thermal trip kicking in due to overload maybe ?? Puzzling. Any ideas ??? Thanks
  18. Just thought i would let you know that my convetsion and sound installation into a bachman class 37 using a TTS chio was a success. will try to add A video link if i can work out how too .... Many thanks got your help NO. CV's were altered at all !!
  19. Thanks very much indeef cravensmufman. Thats just the kind of info i wad aftet ..thanks for the video too ....it was THIS very loco that mine was installed into ... Will try again witj the othet loco ( 21 pin ) and post my results..thanks again ... Allan
  20. Thanks Richard I will give them a ring I just needed a bit of reassurance i suppose , that what i wad planning to do wouldnt cause desstruction of the chip !! PS ...Already got a 21 to 8 pin plate to fit on the leads .. Body won't fit if it's used used as an adapter..... Thsnks for your help ..
  21. Hi all ..Apologies if this had been covered elsewhere, i have looked at some threads but still would like some advice... I have an Bachman 2l pin intetface DCC loco with factory fitted vab lights and Red tail lights ... I would very much loke to fit s Hornby TTS Sound chip into it .WITHOUT Burning out the chip !! Can anyone advize ad to best CV settings to ensure a smooth crawl start off speed please??? I fitted one to an EIGHT pin bachman 37 recently and it wad quite jerky untill i altered CV's 153 and 154. It ran a bit better But when i altered CV 10 to the alterative setting ( 1 i think ) it ran faster....FOR A FEW. FEET . Now the TTS decoder. seams DEAD as its no longer responfing to Light sound or movement requests from me!! ...Even aftet doing a CV8. to 8 Factory reset!! With this in mind i DON'T Want to install another TTS decoder into my other Bachman 37 ( with cab lights fitted) and find this TOO burns out!! Any advice would be greatly welcomed... Thanks. Allan.
  22. Thanks richard . I seeam to remember having this issue when i instalkef a chip into my DVT in ordet to work the lights ...it didnt work properly untill i put BOTH the class 67 loco AND my DVT on thr programing track to give them both the SAME address !! They work fine together now .. I have NEVER tried this procedure with SOUND decoders .hense my origonal post . Thanks anyway ..
