  1. Hi Folks. Sorry if this had been covered before elsewhere!! I have an NCE power cab and can't find any info on the handset as to what version it is ? All seams to be working fine , although the instruction manual says you can now choose between 1 and 6 recalls with the latest version ( the default is 2 ) , mine doesn't give me an option to change the number of recalls when in " set cab parameter " menu !!! Can anyone advise what I can do archive this please .. Many thanks .. Allan
  2. Hello folks . Can anyone advise as to the best Manufacturers Decoder to fit into the following loco, to ensure good slow running performance.. It's a Hornby R332 class 58. N° 58.006 in rail fright coal sector livery.....it has a Type 7 ( flat open frame ) motor fitted . Any advise on the most suitable chip would be very welcome....thanks in advance Allan

  7. Correction SORRY .. CV 51 sets the "F" button and CV 52 controlls the brightness it says ... My loco seams to have had "F1" programmed to DIM the lights ... I am assuming I just alter CV 52 to adjust OR CV51 to disable it altogether ?? ...

  9. Hi Nigelclife Ave downloaded the PDF for the chip but it doesn't give any specific instructions as to how to program an "F" button to do a certain task !! Just that CV 64 controlls the brightness of certain lights when once programmed to dim them !!! I use a Prodigy express system , I wonder if I could be a pain and ask that you " walk me through " the nessessery process?? As it might just be useful to set other loco to have this feature!! Many thanks ..Allan
  10. Thanks gents , I will download the bachman PDF manual for that chip and then take a look ....
  11. Hi Ken ....it's NOT a sound decoder at all.. Upon further looking at the chassis and the decoder it would appear to be a bachman 36-552 ( cos some of the sleave was taped to the chassis !! ) As you say F0 controlls main lights/ rear lights .however i have SOME digital " cab light fitted " locomotives where the cab lights are controlled from F1 !!! ( Normally reserved for engine startup with sound equipped loco ) This machine however does NOT have cab lights ..... F1 does seem to make the lights dim however and pressing again returns to normal brightness !! Strange !!!.......
  12. Hi Folks , I recently picked up a second hand bachman class 66 610 in freightliner livery .it has been fitted with a chip and runs very well from a crawl to a sprightly full speed .the strange thing is thought, when I pressed F1 to check if cab lights were fitted ( F7. F8 does nothing ) the main lights noticeably "DIM: press F1 agsin and the return to full brightness!! I am not complaining about this unusual quirk , but would like to know if it's a chip malfunction or if it's meant to do this from a specialist supplier ( homes, olivier's etc) The chip seams to have no markings to tell whos/ what is is !! Can anyone shed any light ?? Many thanks .Allan
  13. Thank you very much for the info , now I come to think it maybe was a feature in one of the model rail Series of DVD I have ... Now to dig them out from there hiding place !! Thanks Allan
  14. Hello folks I wonder if anyone else remembers a video being posted on " youtube" of a specially commissioned demonstration layout for the aggregate company formally known as Redland ?? It's probably over a year now since I saw it but am darned if i can find it or anything similar on Google.. Can anone out there help ? Thanks in advance Allan
  15. Hi phill , Just to let you know the NEW speaker arrived earlier than quoted !! So after testing it out the of the body and fitting a " blue tack " gasket " inside the roof, it was placed on the layout once again .. F1 was pesssed and the results were impressive , " Mauritania " has found her voice again!! And a fair bit louder too ( chip set to factory levels ) !! Hard to believe that such a small modification can make huge difference!!! Thanks again for your help and advise.....
  16. Hi again Phil. Yes you're dead correct I am " t"uthere side ot moon tins " am int.Abergele near enough !! LOL THANKS anyway ...
  17. HI again Phill , just a quick update .speaker ordered and should be with me by Friday at the latest ....checked out the volume CV and now of course it's set to default of 128 following the CV8 factory reset to 8 !!! So Ave no idea if it was set too high when I bought the loco in " As new" condition over two years ago now .. tried the loco on the track and fresher F1 ( engine startup ) and imidiately opened up the throttle to see if she shot off up the track ?.....thankfully it DIDN'T and waited around 7-8 seconds before it did !!! SO hopefully it looks like my " sound chip " hadn't blown !!!..... Will keep you posted . Thanks for your help ..
  18. Hi Phil, Thanks for the heads up about the " gasket" mod !! I had heard about doing this but it's much better to " see " what your meant to be doing , as well as the finished result !! Many thanks I live in North Wales ..
  19. PS. forgot to mention that I am deaf ( I wear two hearing aids ) and the default on my class 24 was too quiet so eased it up by 20 and it's fine now !!! Mauritania hasn't been altered by me at all from NEW !!! Thanks .. Allan
  20. Hi again gents ..well looks like you were rite Phil , removed the speaker from said loco and tested with PP3 battery ( sparingly ) direct to the speaker itself ... DEAD As the proverbial Doh'Doh !! SO as soon as funds are available again ( am unemployed at the min ) I will be ordering a replacement speaker and I will try again ...... Just one quick question for either of you ; What would be a sensible CV setting for MASTER Volume ( cv 63 ) so as not to overload the Amp??? I have yet to check it's setting , but the max available 192 and default is 128 from the paperwork I have with it !!! I was thinking 150 maybe ?? Thanks again gents.....
  21. Sorry!! My mobile is duplicate things again !! Grrrrrrrrrrr
  22. Thanks phill...how would I test the speaker .continuity with a volt meter perhaps !! It's so tiny that I don't want to try the usual trick ( as used with hi-fi ) And touch the terminals with a pen light battery; if it crackles it works......this may burn out such a tiny speaker ??
