  1. This is rather dodging the point, especially since you ignored the examples given of RTR loco production in non-China non-UK countries.
  2. For starters, you forgot Peco and Dapol. Second, you apparently seem to believe that the only two countries in the world are Britain and China. For companies manufacturing models in countries that are neither Britain or China, we so far have seen mentioned in this thread Roco, Frateschi, Marklin Trix, Minitrix, and Kato.
  3. Yes, we all just hallucinated the long list of manufacturers we discussed in this thread that make injection-moulded models outside of China.
  4. Fourdees also produce 3D printed OO9 locos, though they buy in chassis from Kato (who manufacture in Japan). It is clear that manufacturing model trains outside China is perfectly viable; however Britain is unlikely to be at the top of the list for manufacturers wishing to move production outside of China.
  5. Podcasts are generally popular as something to listen do while doing something else.
  6. Perfectly possible these days, especially on a big-budget film like this.
  7. This claimed to be a 3.5mm scale layout, however.
  8. People say this but it's complete *******s - they have in no way replaced the old four-wheelers, as is blatantly obvious if you visit Hornby's website.
  9. Using OO Works, Peco, Fourdees etc. as examples this is probably an exaggeration.
  10. It certainly has happened in other fields. Whether or not it happens in model railway magazines I cannot say.
  11. Frankly the golden goose was already looking sickly at the time of Grouping - from the end of WWI onwards the history of British coal mining is one of nothing but gradual decline.
  12. For those not wishing to click, the remaining original parts on Scotsman are "the rear two thirds of the frames, part of the cab sides and some parts of the motion and possibly the driving wheel splashers". So some fairly major parts.
  13. True enough, but 4472 still has significant original 1923 parts.
  14. Curious to know if this has ever been done, as a sort of reverse-British HO thing. Bonus points if the model is not of a colonial railway that primarily used British-built stock. Obviously Ireland is disqualified.
  15. Well, I was talking about USPs from the perspective of passengers. Obviously it is fairly well-positioned in terms of other revenue sources.
  16. Which is why it has sped up trials of biomass fuels, which was a switch everyone was expecting heritage railways to have make eventually anyway. The GCR has a USP - the question is whether it has any appeal outside enthusiasts. The website describes it as "the only place in the world where full size steam engines can be seen passing each other" - which is only true if you add "at speed" to the end.
  17. The Scenic Railway had to install track brakes when it was reconstructed. IIRC the Roller Coaster at Great Yarmouth got grandfathered in and still relies solely on a brakeman.
  18. Sorry, I know I said I'd get the next entry up soonish, but a bunch of things in my personal life have come up and I have to put this on indefinite hiatus. It will return at some point, though.
  19. Well, a roller coaster's basically a gravity-operated passenger train, and from what I understand they're fine legally as long as they use track brakes and don't rely solely on a brakeman. Of course, I suspect none of these proposed solutions would work out cheaper than just using biomass for fuel.
  20. I cannot see how the mere mention of something - without providing a link - is "promotion". And that speaks volumes as to the too-cosy relationship between manufacturers and magazines!
  21. I genuinely have no idea what you are trying to say here.
