  1. I love the colour scheme. Reminds me of my Landy Defender! 😂
  2. As a railwayman I was very much in favour of ramping up the gore. More Gore. (But not Al Gore obviously)…that is potentially a whole different horror show… Take a manikin (probs not the latest up to date PC term but today I can’t be ar$ed)… fill it full of fake blood then film it being hit by a train at say 90mph. Result…and this is a term we use locally….it gets turned into ‘Pink Mist’… At much slower speeds the trespasser might get initially hit, but then could stay conscious whilst getting ‘hooked up’ underneath the train and…’dragged’….basically grated to death under the train by the track. Or even dissected by the switch blades of Facing Point Switches. In any event…not enough is made out of this. I have not sympathy at all whatsoever. As back in the day it would have been us poor herberts out with bin bags picking up the mush.
  3. RANT INCOMING…. In the UK there is a un level playing field…difficult to believe I know. The public don’t encourage or in the main let their children play on or mess about on roads. Nevertheless every year children are killed. Nothing much happens and figures rarely change much. The media are disinterested. It happens and as things don’t change it must therefore be seen as generally accepted by the population. However if a child is killed on railway lines, there is an absolute outcry. Media hammer the railways and we spend millions investigating and prosecuting those involved. Network Rail and LU spend millions every year fencing in our domestic railways because unlike most, if not all domestic railways in Europe, they are required to do this in law. The exception is usualy high speed lines, as nearly all are fenced in most countries. Hundreds of years ago, when I was a kid, we used to have public information films aimed at educating and to a degree frightening children away from railways. But an early form of wokery stopped these films being shown as they deemed to be upsetting and disturbing to children. We can’t see the resulting burns to a child falling onto a 750v dc conductor rail at up to 13,000 amps, because it upsets them. Network maintains around 22,000 miles of railway with a great deal more fencing than that. Criminal damage to fencing is still Network’s responsibility. it happens somewhere on the uk rail network every day. Tresspass on any UK railway is a criminal offence. Despite this, trespass upon the railway is not treated with the severity of punishment that it deserves. With few if any meaningful prosecutions or meaningful fines. For a comparison, try going over the fence at Gatwick and see what happens to you! For example as soon as Network is made aware of a trespass incident at say Clapham Junction uk’s busiest station), they must stop trains and implement an emergency traction current isolation. If they don’t and the trespasser is electrocuted, then they are liable for criminal prosecution. If having turned off the juice and stopped the trains they catch the trespasser, this trespasser is not prosecuted and fined for the total cost of the delays / disruption that they have caused (could run into £100,000s easily). They can only be fined up to £1000. About 5 seconds worth of court costs / lawyer’s fees and Network’s /British Transport Police’s time. The UK railways are on a politically biased hiding to nothing. My view…if you don’t want to get dead, stay the fudge away from railway lines. Cause and effect. RANT OVER.
  4. Good Evening All Well it has been a very enjoyable day. The sun came out for a start. Still prepping for audit this morning , but in between organising loading of materials and even assisting with some minor shunt moves. To top it off this morning number 1 and his mate arrived safely in Rome. Having flown from Luton to Buddapest yesterday morning, then by train to Vienna and finally by sleeper train to Rome. They were interviewed by the BBC again today, (first time was in Marseilles), I listened to him live on radio Sussex. They even got their photos on the BBC News web page in the Sussex region section. Amazing to listen to them on the radio. They went to the Vatican this afternoon and sat relaxing, soaking up the atmos. Sadly they have had a thumping at the hands of Roma, loosing 4-0. Sad to see that a couple of Seagulls fans were stabbed by Ultras last night. Fortunately they weren’t killed. Spent the afternoon with ORR inspectors carrying out site visits. Very enjoyable. Mrs Grizz made a lovely risotto this evening and with number 2 cub in Gotham City for the evening, we had a cosy meal together. Tonight I am quite tired for some reason, so I am relaxing on the bed watching tv, enjoy a dram or four of Bowmore Happy days….
  5. So basically, and I am not extracting the waste product here, if the quality of the candidates were, for example, ‘Bert and Ernie’ from Sesame Street. Representing the only two parties with enough dough to out campaign and effectively wipe out any alternative. And these were the only two Muppets that were offered up for the populous to be allowed to vote for then, regardless of the positive or negative personalities and personal traits of Bert and Ernie, the problem lies with in the system of who is allowed be a candidate in the first place. Here you go voters, you can vote for a T@55er or a Wkncker. Mmmmmm sounds strangely familiar somehow. Saint Billy of the Connelly had it right “The desire to be a politician, should ban you from ever being one!”
  6. In short a megalomaniac psychopath…..
  7. Right….. before anyone says anything about me getting carried away again…….or over excited….or anything else. Mrs Grizz is aware of the above post….the image of the ‘Space Valkyries’…..etc etc and the chain of posts. This time her response was a mere three words. In this order… The first word was “HA” The second word was “FAT”.. The third word was either “CHANCE”….or “CHANCER”….. To be fair, as a mere spectator it was at this point difficult to distinguish the exact last word…as had she had in fact fallen off of the bed and on to the floor with uncontrollable hysterical laughter….. Hhhhumph. A person might get upset by rude and unfeeling comments by a person…if a person didn’t know that a person might only have been joking.
  8. Sorry Bear…..I got carried away with scoffing a fried egg, chilli, chutney sandwich.
  9. Woooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooo……...space Valkyries! 😍
  10. Well looking at my sweat shirt this morning, I must be in the running for Lister as I managed to get my egg banjo down my front. “…and that there is definitely biscuit..” 😂
  11. Oooooo oooooo bags me Dave Lister!
  12. Bear…well done mate. Keep up the good work. It is great to see you thinking ahead, what with all that Polar Ice melting…. ATB Grizz…❤️😉
  13. Yeah it does sound a bit tin hat brigade doesn’t it. 🤪 However if it is switched off and then surrounded by foil then it is a reasonable assumption, using the better safe than sorry principle, that it definitely can’t be picked up on cells / masts etc. Obviously as upstanding pillar of the community I wouldn’t have any reason to conduct my affairs in this way….😆
  14. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttt? 😮 Countries not happy with complying with EU directives….surely not! Is nothing sacred? 😂
  15. Well that was fun, up at an utterly unspeakable hour. Took number 1 cub to Haywards Heath station for the 04:25 train. Due to some unannounced, until you get to the actual sign, road closure, I had to do my best Dukes of Hazzard impression on the way up. Not a problem as there were no other vehicles down the back roads 03:50. At one stage I even though that I might get that bit where the car freezes in mid air and your get the voice of the Balladeer (aka Waylon Jennings), as we must have cleared that hump back bridge by a least a foot. Probably did less damage to the car than driving on that bit of road, as it is full of pot holes. Still he is safely packed off onto the train to the airport, with the next stop Hungary. Then trains to Roma. Meanwhile I’m back home and I can’t get back to sleep……🤬 My recent adventure in D.I.Y. Surgery using a Stanley knife and subsequent repair with Superglue looks like it might need another dose of Superglue, as it is starting to flake away. My finger seems to be ok, but I am probably going to have to put a plaster around it as I am back on shift today and still preparing for audit, so loads of typing to do. With regard to phone surveillance, switching it off and having a piece of aluminium foil to wrap around it when not in use or carrying a burner phone might seem a possible solution. Although having just read that back, that does sound a touch iffy!
  16. Good Evening All Please can anyone help me with some advice. Number 1 cub and his mate are travelling to Italy to watch Brighton v Roma. Getting there is no issue. The game is on Thursday night, and they are due to travel home from Torino to Gatwick on Friday 8th……however there is some rumour that there is due to be a general strike with unionise workers walking out on that day. Biggest issue is they have no idea how wide spread this likely to be and how likely it is to affect flights, trains etc etc. Getting reliable information from here is difficult to say the least. Cheers in advance all.
  17. As I was asked the other day……..did you win?
  18. Thanks Jamie…😊
  19. Give it a few days and I should be able to sand the glue off and the cut will have healed. I have a feeling that superglue was found useful in treating certain types of battle field injuries…although I do admit that this could just be one of those urban myths…? Anyone know?
  20. Yeah sadly over the years I have visited our local A&E with various wounds. When I cut my head, they glued it together with medical superglue, rather than stitch it, like they used to. Obviously they clean you up first.
  21. Sadly your sage council came slightly too late….🤣
  22. Uho, skool boy error number 1….glued the cut ,but also slightly glued the tips of my right index finger and middle finger together. Still, primary task objective successfully achieved, it has stopped bleeding. Oooo and it is slightly swollen up. Interesting. Mmmm probs should have filming this…you know for one of those YouTube dufuss videos.
  23. Ok I’m gonna go for it. Wish me luck.
