  3. This thread is on interest to me as I'm off "down under" for two weeks in March for a family wedding. I have relatives who stay near Campbelltown outside Sydney, I'm looking forward to seeing a bit of the network in the area as well as looking for some model shops in the Sydney area, my Mum has been before (it's my Aunt who stays there) and brought me back some Powerline stock the last time. I'll dig it out and get some pics later today. Cheers Craig

  11. My one arrived yesterday. Took it up to the club last night and it ran well, no broken parts at all. I'm really pleased with it, looking at PMP's pics above are spurring me on to do similar to mine! Cheers Craig
  12. Following it's debut at the Bonnybridge exhibition in 2007 the layout has appeared at eight Scottish exhibitions, the last being Ayr a few weeks ago, its next invite is for April 2010, more details will follow on this one later. The layout is currently lying dismantled in my garage and should hopefully be built back up this week as I want to try out the new computer interface for my Prodigy Advance system!! I have more small detailing jobs to be getting on with too so really need to get the layout back up! More to come on this one! Cheers Craig
  13. Hi all, Some will be familiar with my layout thread on the old RMweb at here This blog will be a continuation of the thread but to start with I'll go back to the start with a quick overview of how (and why!!) the layout was built. At the end of 2006 my wife bought me a Bachmann sound fitted class 66 for Christmas, prior to this I had no intention of giving DCC a try but once I got this loco I decided to take the plunge and bought an MRC Prodigy Advance system from the USA. I then decided to build a small layout which was planned to be part of a larger layout in my garage (which hasn't happened yet!) and Park Road TMD was born. When the layout was started I had no real intention of finishing it to an exhibitable standard but that changed when members of my club saw it and challenged me to have it ready for our show later that year, that gave me around 8-9 months to get it done! The boards were built using 12mm MDF on a 2x1 frame, the layout uses metal stands bought from Aldi to sit on. The trackwork is all Peco code 100, the biggest mistake I made was in using insulfrog points, purely as I had a lot of them lying around from an old project but I've gotten over the problems with them although any further plans will use electrofrog as well as being code 75! The buildings were made from various kits from Pikestuff, Peco and Knightwing, one of the main features on the layout are the big gasholders, these were built using a Walthers kit which was adapted to make 2 low relief holders, another feature is the scenic break which is another single track line passing over the exit to the fiddle yard, this was originally planned to be disused but was finished as a line under possession with an on track machine and warious workers going about their work. Anyway, that's a quick overview, there will be more to come soon. Cheers Craig
