  1. Hi Stu, I believe Arran has messaged you now, we're all meeting up today to review the show and continuing the organising of next year, I've made him aware of your post. Thanks Craig
  2. Hi Stu, I've passed on your post above so that it can be dealt with by our sales team. Hopefully one of them will be in touch soon. Regards Craig
  3. Members of the organising committee are meeting with the SEC at the venue today to discuss the arrangements for the show, the members attending are well aware of the issues raised in the posts above and will be seeking further guidance from the SEC as they ultimately decide what we do in the hall. Further to that there is a meeting of the organising committee tomorrow to go over all aspects of where we are with the show, one which has been organised in the strangest of circumstances with hundreds of hours of work done when we weren't even certain that we'd be allowed to put on the exhibition, and given that the show is still four weeks away the guidance and rules may change further before then. One of the exhibition committee will provide an update to this thread in the next few days. Thanks Craig
  4. Hi Paul, It may be worth contactiong @DaveClass47 who runs the excellent Dean Park Station youtube channel as he usually does good youtube review videos of the show. We also have our own youtube channel for the show so could look at doing something with that. Craig
  5. I've been asked to post the below on behalf of Ian Porteous, the Model Rail Scotland exhibition manager. All matters relating to the ongoing public health emergency is a constantly changing situation for event organisers such as ourselves. Discussion of such matters on public forums is less than constructive for organisers, visitors and exhibitors as it creates an environment where mixed messages can be given some of which could be out of date or not applicable to the Scottish version of the rules. The best way for anyone who is planning to attend the event as a visitor, is to visit the Model Rail Scotland website where the up to date rules are posted along with the link to the SEC website where details on how they will be managing matters is also given. Anyone who is participating as an exhibitor i.e. working on a layout or a trade stand will receive the up to date rules on what is applicable to exhibitors via the online Exhibitor Information system which will be issued to them on or about the 5th of February. Model Rail Scotland is one the first major non- commercially organised exhibitions to take place in the UK since the relaxation of rules occurred back in August 2020 which has been an eventual journey for myself and the team. I would ask that any forum members who intend to come along as visitors and those who will be involved in the event as exhibitors check the situation relating to their status in the manner outlined above. Regards Ian Porteous Exhibition Manager Model Rail Scotland
  6. To clarify on previous posts. The rules being followed at the event will be the current (at the time of the show) Scottish Government guidelines and will be implemented by SEC staff on entry to the venue buildings. An overview of the current guidelines for event organisers can be found below. https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-certification-scheme-businesses-event-organisers/pages/overview/ We will also be keeping the Model Rail Scotland website updated with the most up to date info on the requirements for entry for our visitors. https://modelrail-scotland.co.uk/ The information Arran has posted regarding exhibitors comes from the above government guidance, our exhibitors will all be issued with guidelines about their responsibilities at the event. Craig (on behalf of the organising team).
  7. Looking forward to this, time off sorted with work and return train times from Scotland let me visit for pretty much the whole day on Saturday, using my work passes for the train too which is a bonus! Craig
  8. I'm one of the organisers but don't deal with advance tickets so not 100% sure, I've passed on your query and either myself or one of the team will reply ASAP. Craig
  9. Current Scottish restrictions on indoor event numbers ending on 24th January as predicted, announcement being made as I type this. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-scotland-60037661 Cheers Craig
  10. This came in to force today, the decision was announced last Tuesday. The lifting of restrictions on indoor events are expected to follow on January 24th, the update is expected to be announced to the Scottish Parliament tomorrow (Tuesday 17th). As for the show, as one of the organising team we're carrying on our planning as normal for the show to go ahead.
  11. I had an order delivered earlier this week. My order was £237.07 and the charges to UPS were £58.96. However a few weeks ago I took delivery of an HO scale Australian loco with sound which slipped through and was delivered without the usual letter from Parcelforce!
  12. I've now ordered the UKF van and a couple of Molasses TTA's, the mermaid looks really good too.
  13. I joined the GOG last September after speaking to a few local members at a show ran by a local o gauge group, I'd been invited along with my modern image layout and had a great day with lots of positive comments. After joining I signed up to the forum, I couldn't believe some of the stuff in the guild talk section regarding the costs of Telford etc, members asking genuine questions being brushed off or ignored. I pretty soon began to wonder what I'd signed up to, given the questions about the accounts, the now clear efforts of the "establishment" to protect their positions and seeing the posts above about the Telford jolly enjoyed by them I can't see myself renewing if things don't change.
  14. Those are something else Simon, really good! My Scottish Malt Distliiers polybulk is at this stage, custom decals although I see the Railtec ones are now available. Craig
  15. My latest project thanks to Simon! The Scottish Malt Distillers polybulk wagon, the PAV's in the last pic are also from Simon. My only grumble with myself is that when I built the PAV's and CO2 tanks I ordered Slaters wheels, the bearings are too big for the axleboxes so I had to drill them out, on ordering this one I mentioned wheels to Simon and he recommended Peartree wheels, on arriving I found the bearings were a perfect fit in the bogies. Craig
  16. Glad I found this post, I'm starting an O gauge Slaters LMS van based on the Comrie colliery one posted on here a long time ago, the real one now resides at Bo'ness. Craig
  17. It's that time of year again! My O gauge layout "Glasshouse Loan" will be representing Bonnybridge Model Railway Club, now that my official duties as showguide editor are nearly done I'm cracking on with more rolling stock kits for the layout! Hopefully we'll see you there.
  18. Thanks Simon, The banding was made with Salters 0.030" x 0.030" microstrip, attached to the barrel before painting. Thanks for your help with the wagons, really pleased with how these have came out.
  19. No problem, thanks for helping anyway, I've now got the remaining transfers on and started on weathering them. Cheers Craig
  20. Thanks Mark, I now have the transfers I need to finish the wagons off, I'll have a look at getting a list from Appleby though.
  21. My progress so far, the orange lines have been masked and brush painted, they'll be faded and weathered anyway, the transfers on the model so far have been scavenged from other packs that I had spare, really pleased with how these are turning out.
  22. I've been following this thread for a while now and decided to take the plunge with a couple of the CO2 TTA tanks for my O gauge layout. The parcel arrived from Shapeways yesterday, really pleased with the parts I got, did a quick test assembly last night, I'm using sprung buffers and couplings bought through Invertrain and Slaters wheels, I picked up a short length of pipe for the tank barrels from ebay. Really pleased with how its went together, now to build them properly! Cheers Craig
  23. Hi all, Picked up an Ixion O gauge Folwer loco. Looking at sound for it and see quite a few posts on it here using the zimo mx645 decoder, my problem is that I don't see anywhere that supplies the decoder with the Fowler sound project. Does anyone know of anywhere that supplies it now?
