I use Anderson powerpoles between boards and most everything else. I find that ganging more than 8 of them together makes them difficult to connect and disconnect.

Correct, but I understood the issue to be using the NCE handheld on Z21. If you have the NCE system, you can connect it to the Z21 through the sniffer ports to be able to use the NCE handheld.

You could just make the points sprung. I have that on my loop. Just use piano wire to hold the points for whichever route is normal. Set the tension so that the lightest wagon you have can push the points over when going against them. You can only enter the loop on the same route every time but if that is not an issue. . . . No LEDs needed for those points, either.

Here are some internal shots. Pretty simple. Not sure how it can go backwards unless the motor is bad. The only thing controlling direction is the polarity.
