Following the numerous ideas and suggestions put forward by you all I've started to play around with some ideas. Firstly I tried a mix using the Tamiya colours suggested by Matt and that has got me a whole lot closer to a result. I've also bought some of the Vallejo colours and will give those a go as well as this is clearly all about trial and error so it's well worth a try. Still a long way to go but having said that that's the whole idea of it and it's all part of the fun. These pics are not conclusive as they were done in poor light with a flash but it gives you an idea. Paul.

Cheers for that Dave, I go into the city a couple times a week so I can call in there on the way home. I'm going over to Cromer today to get some Tamiya paints as I almost cracked it with the mix that I did last week. Matt suggested XF-21 as well as XF-23 mixed with white so I'll give that a go. Like all things I'm open to suggestions and more than willing to give it a go. Ian, Thank you for such a brilliantly detailed response to my post. I'm just trying to pick the bones out of it but I'm not that great when it comes to technical matters, is it possible to simplify the content a bit please? Or putting it another way is it just a matter of mixing the two colours? Paul.

Can anybody suggest a decent paint mix to achieve this particular shade of green please (as in first photo). It's a bit of a tricky one I know but as yet I haven't been able to get what I would close. Yesterday I mixed a couple of Tamiya acrylics (XF-4 & XF-21) which, once dried, has not come out too bad but maybe there is a better mix. Paul.

Apparently it is not 100 as that was published in1952 so it would be one from 1967 I guess just after the slurry tanks came into service. Paul.

Hi All, Can anybody please guide me on this one? I am trying to find a copy of "Modern Rail Magazine" edition 100, I am told that it includes a very good article/photos about the Bowater china clay slurry tanks. I would love to purchase a copy if I can track one down. Paul.

I wasn't sure where to post this so I hope I've located it correctly. Thoughts please as to what is the best class 73 in 00 scale. These were used apparently on the china clay services to Sittingbourne back in the mid-sixties so adding one to my layout would be a very good idea. Paul.

Hi Halvarras, Thanks for your reply. Have you got a copy of that photo please, if so any chance of scanning it and attaching it to a PM please? I've got the full rake of tanks now (20) and they are all weathered and renumbered, I've just got to fit the new wheels and couplings. The info regarding the class 73s is interesting as well, I'll look into that further. Paul.

There used to be an old green corrugated shed close to Sittingbourne station on the down line. I believe it was demolished around 2006 but has anyone got an idea as to when it was built? It was part of Bowater and was used for offloading slurry that was then pumped through to the mill. Paul.

Following the response I had to my post I have gone for 1054mm as this was the figure suggested by the majority (I had personal messages as well) so I will now proceed and build the main shell. I've also found a lot of good accessories as well for the detailing. Paul.

Hi DGO, 😆😄🤣. Okay, now that I've picked myself up off the floor and stopped laughing we can start again. Yes, you're perfectly correct, I've just remeasured the map and it is 64mm so 6.4cm. I have this afternoon been working on the front-end section and I know that is correct as it is 1cm wide so 12.5 metres life size so converted into 4mm scale it is 162mm. I've spent some time this afternoon getting the roof pitch right and I think have got it pretty close. So, if you would, can you please post what you think is the correct length please. Thank you. I have a copy of a map that is in 1:1250 scale. The building that I am trying to build measures at 64 cm on that map so can somebody tell me the length of the real building please? I've found some info online that says 1cm equals 12.5 metres so I've come up with a figure of 1066 mm for the model (1/76 scale). Am I right or I am I barking up the wrong tree? Paul.

Hi All, I have a DJH Models D1 Class loco kit that was unfortunately taken on by somebody who I thought was an expert in the subject of kit building. Sadly, he made a complete hash of it and the whole project is basically ruined. He had it for 2 years and 10 months and I was lucky to retrieve it. A few very knowledgeable people have had a look at it and have declared that there is only one answer, to take it all apart and start again. Does anybody know of a really good kit builder who would take this on please? One fault was the chassis which was badly twisted, so he clearly didn't build it on glass as I think you are meant to. That has been rectified to a great degree but would still need checking. Paul.

I have just bought a Howes Models Plux22 sound decoder for a class 20 (Bachmann 35-351) diesel. I've removed the body and the blanking plug and have fitted the decoder but I need to know what to do with the two wires coming from the decoder. Do they need to be soldered to any terminals or just tucked out of the way. The instructions that came with the model show a Bachmann decoder with no wires attached. Paul_C

Can anybody shed any light on this small company please? They are based in St. Neots in Cambridgeshire and I'm wondering if they have closed down their business. I have phoned a few times and sent emails but have not had any reply. I think they were due to be at G.E.T.S. a couple of weeks ago but they disappeared from the list of traders. He did a couple of things for me and the bits he produced were very good indeed. It'll be a shame if he's decided to call it a day. Paul.

Has anybody got a Bachmann Class 414 2-HAP fitted with a Digitrains sound file please? I'm trying to find a sample of it but so far, no luck. Paul.
