  1. Apparently Ron that would work as such as Graham Warner mentioned using it as a slave when I asked him about it a few weeks ago. What does that mean exactly?
  2. I have a ZTC 611 and have thought about getting a 511 as there are a few available at the moment. Would there be any advantages of having a second controller on the layout, if so what would they be please? I'm asking this because I don't have a great understanding or knowledge of electrics. Paul C.
  3. The last post on this is now over two years old and nothing further has emerged which is a bit concerning. I've no idea as to what is happening with ZTC. Graham did say that news of substantive progress was imminent but that was some months ago now.
  4. Are there any shops/small companies out there who fit coach lighting? I have a couple of sets of birdcage and a number of Mk 1's that need doing. I know there's a knack to this so it would be a good idea to have it done by somebody with experience. Paul.
  5. Does anybody know when the sound fitted models will be sent out. Paul.
  6. Robin, I have a working model of the Kingsferry Bridge (Isle of Sheppey) and it's carved from European oak so it's nice and sturdy. The wood finish looks great (if you're a woodturner) but I want to paint it in "concrete". If I had that self same formula that you've applied to your gate posts it will look absolutely spot on. The gates are also made and I have the servers for them so hopefully I can get them hooked up to operate similar to yours. Paul.
  7. Robin, Can you remember what paint you used please? Paul.
  8. I've noticed from a number of photos that the Sulzer 2 Class 24s didn't appear to display headcodes and window blinds, was this generally the case? If not which ones would have been applied around the Faversham/Sittingbourne area please? Paul.
  9. Kelvin, how did you achieve the concrete effect for the level crossing gate posts?
  10. Kelvin, where did you get the phone box from, can you remember the make by any chance? I need one for my model fire station and that's the best I've seen to date. Paul.
  11. Well I'm pleased to say that things have steadily moved on and my model is now well on the way to being built. I found some good photos on the John Laing site showing the colourings required. The model is being adapted somewhat to make it more like those seen around the late 1950's/60's. Once printed and painted I'm sure that it will blend in with the layout. Paul.
  12. Thanks Walrus, I've just found exactly what I needed. Good on yer! Paul.
  13. I take it you have a copy of the Locoshed book, is it the Ian Allan version? I've just searched and found two or three different types. Paul.
  14. I also need guidance regarding the class 25s as I'm not sure when these came into being. I will certainly get a copy of the Locoshed book.
  15. I have a class 24 that I would like to get renumbered in accordance with any that would have been working the Sheerness/Sittingbourne/Faversham area around 1959/60. Any suggestions please? Paul.
  16. Thank you Ian, I'll have a search and see what I can find.
  17. Thank you becasse, I might have got it wrong but I'm sure that Sittingbourne had announcements made by that lady with the nice voice starting around '69 'ish. I left school in 1971 and used to travel home from Deal on leave and they were definitely in place then and had been for a little while if I'm not mistaken. Paul.
  18. I couldn't quite make out the last part of his announcement, did he say "join the last four carriages for Canterbury East and Dover Priory"?
  19. I'm looking for some recordings or software that contain station announcements from the 1959/60 time period. In particular those used at Sheerness-on-Sea and Sittingbourne stations. Again I'm probably asking for the earth but maybe there's a slim chance that these exist somewhere. Paul.
  20. I am looking for any photos of Laing construction vehicles and cranes from the late 50's/early 60's era. I am having a model crane built and want to determine the colouring and logos/signage. Any suggestions would be very helpful, thanks. Paul.
  21. Thank you Nick, it's all done. I searched through my many boxes and found the paperwork that came with the model and there is a very good descriptive section giving very detailed instructions on how to remove the cab and the headcode panel. I took it apart without any problems and was able to fit the new code and a two man crew. Thanks Nick. Paul.
  22. Can anyone tell me how to remove the cab from the Dapol class 73 please? Mine is 4D-006-010 with the running number E6004. This may be covered in previous posts on this thread but there's 89 pages to trawl through so a fresh entry will be quicker. Paul.

    Class 73

Can anyone tell me how to remove the driver's cab from the Dapol class 73 model please? The one I have is E6004, green with small yellow ends. I want to fit a headcode and a two man crew and I've removed the bodyshell but the cab fittings seem to be very well secured and I can't see anything obvious to unclip/release. Paul.
  24. I have a rake of the old Triang-Hornby Bowaters slurry tanks (R668) and would like to change the couplings. I have some of the West Hill Wagons Elite magnetic type but have just been looking at Accurascale's Instanter. Opinions please as to whether these would be suitable (would they fit the model) as they seem to look pretty close to those used on the real tanks (you'll need to zoom in on the photo). Paul.
