  1. Brilliant news on both this kit and the 08-16. The fact that the 08-16 kit is rarer than hens teeth to get a hold of at this stage shows that there is a demand for high quality OTP kits and models.
  2. Has anyone tried turning 68003 or any earlier variant into a later variant by replacing handrails, horn covers, bufferbeam details, and if so, how difficult was it, as all the spare parts necessary are freely available it seems?
  3. Having spent a number of hours listening to both the real locos and sound fitted model ones on YouTube, I don't think any of the sound chips that I have seen examples of so far accurately reflect the real loco sound. However, the closest in my opinion was Biffo sounds loaded onto an EM2 and sugarcube speaker setup. What's other people's thoughts on the best 68 sound combination to fit to the locos?
  4. Looking for one of the above tamper kits if anyone has one lying around that they would like to part with. Ideally, it will be unmade as purchased condition with motor, transfers etc. included.
  5. Anyone know if this kit is still being produced? It was also supposed to be followed by other OTP kits as far as I remember, but I don't think any other OTP kit was ever released.
  6. Any chance of the initial batch of releases being changed so that one of the DB red versions carry the large DB logo instead of both of them carrying the DB Schenker logo, as by the time these models are released, very few, if any, of the real life DB red 66's will carry this logo? All current Class 66 repaints are receiving the large DB logo, and any already in DB red livery are being retrospectively fitted with the large DB logo. Also, any update on sound chip being used?
  7. Pretty sure no orange bubbles would have existed by 1987 when IR came into existence. By 1983, approx 60% of the bubbles had been repainted in the ivory livery. I think CIE only started repainting the orange bubbles into ivory around 1980.
  8. It was the same with the Colas Class 60. Instead of doing an unnamed loco, Hornby picked the Colas Class 60 loco with the longest nameplate as far as I know. It's almost like they want to dissuade you from buying extra models to renumber. Same story again with the DB Schenker 60.
  9. Are the Scotrail Saltire units code 156-111 still available to buy or are they sold out?
  10. Thanks Mark. That's useful to know. Came across a photo yesterday of a 56 inside the weekly shed, and it looked like it could have easily fitted another 56 inside, so good to get confirmation of that. I have some clear photos that show the track layout too, but unsure when they are from. What was the changes to the track layout that you mention?
  11. Would anyone happen to know what dimensions the diesel depot shed at Blyth Cambois TMD was? I have most of the information needed to model this shed, and can probably guess it from photos, but would like an indication of what size the depot shed building was. Any help greatly appreciated. I have a drawing of the track layout which shows the approximate outline of the shed, but no dimensions unfortunately.
  12. Looking for a spare Hornby Class 60 sprung buffer. The Hornby code is X9399 for a pack of four. They seem to be sold out everywhere. I think that I really only need the spring as the buffer came loose and the spring went airborne never to be seen again, so if anyone has a spare buffer or spring lying around, please contact me. If anyone knows of any model shop that has these in stock, would appreciate if you could let me know. Thanks
  13. Can these be bought in shops anywhere or are they a special commission?
  14. One of the latest releases, 68008, is what Dapol are calling "DRS Late" with new handrails and horn grilles. Was any of the initial batch of releases of 68001, 68002 or 68005 also in this configuration or in the initial as delivered configuration? When were these modifications carried out? I was put off the original batch because of the livery issue, the crooked nameplates and the packaging rubbing the paint from the front cabs. Are these issues now all resolved? I believe the etched nameplates now come as a separate part to be fitted over a printed nameplate if desired, but what of the other issues.
  15. Any chance of a description of what materials were used in the construction of the Nissen loco shed? Also, what dimensions is the shed? It looks pretty much spot on to the real thing. Be very interested in knowing the construction technique.
  16. Looking for some of the pristine Kernow Model Centre PBA Clay Tiger wagons with the codes SB002A, SB002B, SB002C and SB002D.
  17. Is it possible to buy the unusual type of cladding shown in the photo in OO scale or even HO scale?
  18. Lovely photo from a bygone era. Care to share any similar photos? Never grow tired of seeing photos from the CIE era.
  19. I think there is definitely a market for high quality scenery such as this that can be plonked down on a layout. Are you considering made to measure lengths or set sized lengths? Your efforts are seriously realistic looking, so I for one would definitely be interested. Hard to put a price on it but personally for a 12" x 4" such as that shown in the photo, I would be interested if it was say in the £30-40 price bracket.
  20. Where did Iain Robinson's excellent model building blog disappear to? It used to be on blogger.
  21. Is it possible to purchase these sheds in 4mm scale or do you only manufacture them in 7mm?
  22. This layout is like a masterclass on how to make an effective layout, and just goes to show that even a smallish layout can have a lot of impact visually. I love how simple an idea the track layout is, but yet has lots of potential as to running pretty much any loco on it.
  23. This model of Toton is simply stunning in every way.
