But Even though I really dislike a Pink locomotive, even if it doesnt work, at £74 i’m going to give it a shot... and after-all theres 7 in that convoy picture above !

    :D

Yes I was looking at the ones listed which were either non-runners, inconsistent runners or that GBRF Europorte one with loose internal parts needing to be re-fitted but wasn't feeling brave enough to dive in.

I basically succumbed to GBRF 66756 'Royal Corps of Signals' (really wanted that one) and hit the jackpot with DB Schenker 66118 which I had ordered previously whilst it showed in stock of 6 and then after a few days of it sitting in limbo within my account rang Hattons to find out it was actually out of stock which was disappointing but with their customer service being the usual high standard was given a gift voucher towards my next purchase which was a nice gesture.

If I was drawing up a list of second release suggestions for Hattons: would be something like:

    66044 EWS
661xx  EWS - think the run would need 2. One with mirrors, one without as before.

    664xx DRS Compass
    6641xx DRS Compass unbranded
    66434 Fastline
    666xx Freightliner standard livery
667xx Bug eye fixed Europort livery (GBRf blue and yellow?)
667xx Bug eye 66/9 low emmission GBRF
    66748 GBRf Grey
    668xx Advensa

As for celebs to add on:

    66747 in NWT
    66731 NHS
    667-- HMS Argyll
    667-- Chinook

To add I would go for one or two more DRS 6630xx to go with their release of 66301 to accompany the AS KUA's...totally agree on the celeb's.

I’d love to see Accurascale develop the Class 50 as their next diesel locomotive model, to the same exacting standard as their other loco’s.  With the disappointment of Hornby’s latest release of the GBRf versions, I’d say that when Accurascale are in a position to announce another loco, the Class 50 has to be right for the picking.

I would put my money on AS doing the Class 40, would love to have a couple of the preserved mainline running variants in BR Green.

  4. I just don't get it.

I follow the work being done in this thread on the Class 90's and the beautiful and expert resprays constantly being undertaken but why since its announcement nearly 7 years ago would Bachmann only release 3 Class 90 liveries outside of the Collector's Club which are only good until 2015 (yes you have to update the Freightliner from 2015 to current day) and don't do anymore after that, now bear in mind it's been nearly 3 years since these three were released.

I am genuinely curious as to why this is the case, have Bachmann come to the conclusion that nobody wants to buy anymore new Class 90's thus shelving it (no that wouldn't make any sense) or what else could be the reason since they have the new tooling.

You look at the rate Hornby churn out D&E's at their level of tooling and with Hattons being able to get out 30+ Class 66's and not to mention everybody else releasing loads of Classes with a huge amount of liveries then why is it so difficult for Bachmann to do the same or to a lesser extent and this way of thinking appears to inflict their new Class 20/3 range as well, yes you guessed it only 3 liveries.

Everyone keeps saying 'next quarter they will do more', almost like people wishing to win the lottery but that has been the case for the past 2 years at least.

Anyway, love the work being done on the 90's in this thread.

I’ve recently ordered D9009 from Rails and I’d love to order 55001 as well but I’m wary of over stretching myself financially.  If Accurascale ever decide to do a second run, I’d like to see 55019 and 22 done complete with the high intensity headlights as Locomotive Services Limited are planning to register both of them onto the national network and then I’d have all three Network Rail registered Class 55’s.

Yep me too...would be great to have on a layout or in a display case.

An aftermarket 'fix' which needs purchasing and soldering in by the end user. Even without wading through 171 pages, that sort of tells me these aren't the premium product originally envisioned.

Just an option if you see fit to pursue it, nothing more nothing less and yes already done to death but no doubt some hard lessons learned for Hattons on this product...hopefully they'll deliver the ultimate 66 in their next batch if they do it.

  7. Not sure if that has been posted already thus apologies in advance for repeating, this is in regards to a fix for the lighting issue on the large headlight (bug-eyed) versions of the Hattons Class 66.

A company called Illuminated Models (have no affiliation) have a modification board for sale to fix the the issue and very cheap and easy as well requiring basic soldering skills and a little bit of work installing, I stumbled across this recently thus thought it would be useful to post in this thread and must admit gives me renewed interest in purchasing the current large headlight 66's which I hadn't done previously...see direct link below to the product.

They have also posted a YouTube video on how to do this, link below.

I was getting sick of taking them to the post office.

I know how you feel, have sent 3 back already because of sound & lighting issues.

Got another 2 pre-owned (like new) but one has a missing detail pack which is annoying because it is for the Freightliner ONE Pink which has a different yellow than the others on the top part of the apron thus on the verge of sending that back because I have been informed by Hattons there are no spare detail packs for that particular loco.

The other is the Freightliner Green 66957 where the detail pack is from the EWS 66 loco thus completely different aprons to the Freightliner variant but waiting on Hattons to get back to me on whether they have any spare for my loco, just annoying little things, anyway have 6 66's now and looking to get 2 more so I just keep on going back for more :banghead:

I knew my luck would have to run out at my 3rd 66 loco, as previously mentioned purchased 66783 Biffa (full price) with sound brand new but unfortunately it may have to go back, what's worse it was the last one so won't be a direct swap with another new one.

    Anyway, issues as follows;

No.1 end cab light doesn't come on but has the switching on sound, daytime/night-time running lights ok

No.2 end cab light works with sound, daytime running lights ok but night-time running lights don't work as intended (headlight doesn't come on, just the 3 markers).

Underbody switches checked and contrary to instructions there are only 2 and not 3 switches and are set correctly.

I haven't taken the body off to check the main switches on the board but would think if these weren't set correctly at the factory none of the lighting/cab lighting functions would work unless I'm mistaken and corrected by someone who knows what K1 to K6 control and whether my issues above would be caused by these not being set correctly.

Any advice or feedback is most welcome.

Has anyone had a model with faulty night mode and been able to fix it? I know all the models are faulty one way or another and I accept that, but a few of the ones I've had for sound fitting plus one of my own (so far) has a problem where the right hand light when you are facing it wont come on when night mode is activated. It's only happening at one end and I know the decoder works cos it works fine in other hattons 66's, and I know the switches are set correctly because ive done over 20 now and most have been fine I cant see any loose wires, could the problem be somewhere else? maybe within the switch?

I've also had a few where one cab light wont work, I've tried cleaning the contacts but thats not helped, so I guess it could be a similar problem?

    Thanks

    Hi Richard,

Yes I had the same issue with 66783, see my post quoted above, I opened it up and everything looked normal & switches were set correctly.

Sent it back for a refund, hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Steve
