This weekend Plumtree works will be appearing at the railriders show , at crewe heritage center.  Open to members and non members of Rail Riders. I hope you'll come and enjoy what will hopefully be a good day out

Plumtree works will be running current era stock with appearances from heritage Appleby frodingham railway tours 😉

A few new things have been added to the layout including lights. Which will appeared here after the show in photo form of course !

For the record my brick loads arrived. I am not an expert on 3D printing but they appear to be rather low grade 3D prints, with as much striation as intended detail. So not very realistic - I will have to cover them with a Tarpaulin and use them as 'covered loads' in something else.

Perhaps someone else will produce a better version.

could you post a pic ?

Do you want to due to a modification, or as a direct replacement for an original? I have a stock of originals that I have removed and replaced with other motors in order to fit DCC sound and Stay Alive.

Now there's a question ! How easy is it to fit a different,  smaller motor ?

Chris bought one and it has a bit if a duff motor, wasn't sure about the best way to go about replacing it. Like for like is easy , but if there's another motor that only takes a little work?

Please tell me more sir ;)

The GT3was easy to do.. the data pack they received was very comprehensive. The bit that went pear shaped is the lights (and no one is even sure they were used that often  BUT this need a bit of proper research.. which along with communications is a major problem for KR Models

The Hunslet BO BO should be Ok as, again they have had a lot of drawings etc made available.. so hopefully they get that right...

but that has gone quiet again...

The current email is of concern to those who may have paid deposits (or even full payments) for future models....

The bo bo is delayed but im assured its on track, we have been involved with the design and livery work, and have been listened to on our input, of course something could always go wrong , but we have tried to keep them on  the right path

I’m curious. It looks to me as if a new PCB could have solved the weird lighting on the GT3. The necessary wiring, or most of it, seems to be in place. Did anyone who got a sound version of the second run find that anything had been done to fix the lighting?

i have the blue edition and nthe lighting was corrected for this version

So, will there be an announcement of the rescheduling of the announcement or will the announcement just appear "out of the blue"?

sounds like monty python that ...

"We apologise for the fault in the subtitles. Those responsible have been sacked.

    - We apologise again for the fault in the subtitles. Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked, have been sacked.

-The directors of the firm hired to continue the credits after the other  people had been sacked, wish it to be known that they have just been sacked. The credits have been completed in an entirely different style at great expense and at the last minute.  "

Pre-orders require credit card because they process the transaction when they are sending you the model. I don't think PayPal allows that kind of transaction. Rails does the same with pre-orders, and I suspect so do others.

paypal does allow it but it takes a certain amount of setting up which i can only assume hattons haven't bothered with

Thanks for that, Jason. 'Efficient' is one of the locos I always made a point of seeing at RSR, along with 'Alexander', Heysham No. 2 and Pug No. 19. Certainly no criticism from me on the quality of the paint job as originally applied, and the current patina adds to the appeal imo. I still think Hattons have done a decent job considering the tooling that would be required to fully represent all the possible variations seen in the full size AB prototypes, especially considering the price. Maybe Planet Industrials could be persuaded to design another cab kit?

I also love that photo, thanks for sharing it - and yep, H&S would probably shut that down in a second these days. What could possibly go wrong on a bumpy light railway? 😬

At least we can still get away with public riding in brake vans !

  9. a quick run through of my model - MR-405B Heljan Ruston 165DE PWM Diesel - 97 652 - BR Yellow

running performance - seems alright, tiniest of wobbles , especially compared to some of the videos

Bodywork - Daylight ! ok maybe not that bad but i could definetly see a gap between the body and the chassis and the running board, and the running board slighly warped.

i took the advice , removed the body using the 2 nose cone screws (no glue present), trimmed back the plastic on the running board and refitted, after a day of being sat on the layout in the sun, the running board and bonnets now seem to fit better and the running board has straightened out,

Modifications - mine was becoming and industrial and i wanted to add some paintwork, and remove some components and decals.

the horn removed fairly easily when the body was off. took a little prising but it came

Decals, Jesus, i, not sure how they are applied, but yellow paint started to come away before the decals, i had to scrape them with a scalpel in the end, and then with a cut cocktail stick and thinners to get them off . without lifting to much paint,

some paint added to the steps and bobs-your-uncle, shes complete. happy with her yellow sisters

  10. Double barrel post !

First of all , 2 new locos have joined the fleet. 2 more janus in the British still 85-87 all yellow liveries , including very short lived logo

15 with the short lived scunthorpe works logo

And next , some honest to God scratch building using styrene. I've built a gantry for holding the conveyor and walkway to hide the fiddle yard. I've not been happy with this area for some time. I feel this very much improves it. Just need to add some crossmembers , a concrete base . And paint  !

    Hi there,

We are still waiting for the first working sample for checking.  Once it is here we will post images etc.

As to the centre cab variant - my understanding is that is intended for the export market.

    cheers

    Ben A.

    Look forward to it.

I understand their have been discussions for a uk customer for the center cab too

If KR models had gone ahead and done it there would have been multiple liveries to choose from - NSE, Loadhaul, GWR, LNER, LBSCR, Intercity Swallow, CSX,  SNCF etc. However there is a good chance it would also have had the cab in the centre instead of at one end or 3 even bogies.

You say that, there is a centre cab variant ! so wouldn't be wrong lol

How many weeks since you ordered? The site says minimum 8 weeks at present so worth bearing that in mind if it’s less than that as they probably can’t give an idea without knowing when.
I ordered mine 7th Feb and got the artwork and approved it last weekend so they’ve only just gone into the next batch so hopefully sometime in April for mine.

They are ment to be doing some special plates for the victory,  namely the rothervale plate. But still not heard anything.

I like the look of that loco - a Hunslet? Looks like a German 112 class loco to me.

Very much English. The design is owned by the steelworks its self (was)  and built for them by hunslet. Hence only the 11 for the site exist. They were designed as heavyweight locos to work with the torpedos and delivered just before as part of the Anchor project. The steelworks has always favoured center cabs due to the visibility and safety

  15. Steelworks layouts are fairly heavily modelled , much like my own. Surprisingly many don't seem to be on rm web but are well represented on Facebook under various groups.

Myself and the AFR-S (Scunthorpe steelworks railtours )have been working with KR models on both the torpedo and the hunslet locomotive models.

You can check out more of my own layout searching for Plumtree works, i have the components to build a blast furnace section of a layout just not the space atm.
