  1. The plan was not to use Flexi track as ruined two pieces already as you measure, cut and then when you try and fit the rails have moved. Must look for way of cutting and bending Flexi easily maybe.
  2. Hi are you able to give me n idea where cuts etc would be needed?
  3. Ok @Harlequin have tried everything to get the plan to work but nothing working. If i use the curved points it changes the spacing between the tracks fiddle yard is proving a nightmare. Any suggestions?
  4. Loving the plan, but cant get it to work on anyrail or scarm at the moment. Will keep trying.
  5. Just seen this, will have a play and see what i can do.
  6. Ok, thanks. Unfortunately the extra 2 inches is a no go, as tight enough getting round a couple of the sides as is. Also played with FY, but definitely need help.
  7. So this is where i am confused. Done the plan with your suggestions as best as i can. Flexi track is a no go, it has to be all setrack. The points dont join on the right, not sure if its plan thing or they wouldn't join in real life. If not, they would have to be on straight track. With that in mind i have two questions. 1. With the points i would need trains that measure between the points as any longer and then i couldn't use the points. 2. Trains on outside track would need to reverse onto inside track to access goods yard, where the loco then would be blocked in the goods yard? Am i correct? Track at bottom is also very close to edge, which wouldn't allow a platform, same at top.
  8. Thanks Although a twin track would seem perfect, i cant really fit in a 2nd and 3rd radius curve line in space i have, and although my locos seem to be ok on 1st radius curves, i dont want to chance my arm. Any thoughts on choice 3?
  9. I posted a couple of months ago about possible layout plans on a 6 x 4 board. Have now managed to extend it to 8 x 4. I have access around all the board, but cant put a operating well in middle to increase area. The layout will be DCC using peco setrack and insulfrog points. In my mind it will be a diesel heritage line. The three plans below are from various sources. Choice 1 is from a guy on youtube who has the plan as a 6 x 4 layout which i have extended to 8 x 4. The guy openly says there are compromises to operations which i am happy to go with. Choice 2 is from the free track plans from the Hornby list. My only query is the line bottom left marked with a ?. Do people thing it is needed? Choice 3 is based on a heritage line called Carrog which was done in N gauge and i have expanded to OO (original was 4 x2) To be honest shunting etc doesnt appeal to me too much, a little is fine but prefer seeing trains running round. So apart from the question about choice 2, can anyone suggest minor alterations i could do? I think the fiddle yard could be better, so open to different designs of fiddle yards.
  10. Now i'm confused. But this isnt the place for layout discussion. Totally disillusioned now. Having been through umpteen track plans, and everyone doesn't seem to work for some reason, even those out of plan books. Time to give up for now.
  11. Train would go straight into GS siding, decouple and another train would come from es siding to move wagons so loco could exit before wagon put back into siding. That's a compromise
  12. Thanks The plan does have compromises to fit the 8x4 space. Did come across another plan today which caught my eye so looking deeper into it, but layout plan is chat for another time. Thanks for everyones recommendations on books, all very helpful.
  13. Just for you, here is the plan with buildings. Not after plan suggestions, sorted this in another post and other forums.
  14. Now just got to fall back in love with the track plan.
  15. Thanks for your reply John. Apologies if my replies came across as sharp, felt some replies were that to. I thought the question was self explanatory it lesson learned. The reason I am doing a fictitious is due to space constraints as no track plan I had wanted to do would fit.
  16. I did actually answer @Burcoops questions but just to confirm. My layout is entirely ficticious. Based in UK, era and area not really in the thinking as it will be a run what i like layout. I know some don't like this type of layout but it is what i want and as always rule1 is do it how you want it. There will be a station, goods and engine shed and a signal box. Have found building plans in a book i have for The Port Road from south west scotland so seems to make sense to put some of those designs together on my layout, giving me a similar type building from a specific area. The reason i asked the question was there is so much out there and thought someone might have found a little goldmine of plans, but seems that might not exist.
  17. Why should my mindset stop me scratch building something? Just because I am not modelling a specific place or era why should that stop me modelling a specific station where a ready made option is not available. All I want is to model a station that would fit the feel of my layout and was just after suggestions where I might find ideas.
  18. Thanks. Just remember i have a whole box of old railway modellers in the loft. Will have a look through and see what appeals.
  19. And what is the point in that if i am trying to learn new skills?
  20. Uk definitely. Era and Area am open to anything. I have plans for Angerton station, my layout is a run what i like layout so wont be area or era specific.
  21. Hi Can anyone point me in the right direction for plans of railway station buildings? Got plans for one, but want to look at a few more before deciding which to build. Cheers.
  22. Hi John Do you think sticking the track with tacky glue on a stay at home layout would be enough?
  23. Hi I have some moulds and through testing have found resin gives me the results i like. But have one slight issue and that is with flash and cutting resin to size. Just after tips how to deal with both. Many thanks. Dave
