  1. I had a 'Wirbelwind' with knackered wheels and a missing track. My mum found an old Airfix tender on her rounds to the shops. I imagined myself as a forward thinking Barnes Wallis type of chap after I mounted the turret onto the coal load. Towed around by a class 47 with a squad of commandos in an 'Arnold sands' wagon. What a wally. Bern
  2. Felt sorry for the Japanese. There were two on the rt who were dead on their a£se, I reckon the manager was keeping his powder dry for et. Honda should've come on a bit sooner, if not started. Throwing everyone forward at the last was doomed to fail. QED. Shame really, I liked their attitude to the tournament. edit to state "Japanese", it seems the filter doesn't like the shortened version. (I take 'Brits' are ok?)
  3. Joe Hart, apparently.. Coat, hat , kit, jet, wife, gone.
  4. quote '. ..It is just a case of playing the long game' Fair point, but I would argue that we have consistently proved that we can't. eta quote
  5. A signal has been sent out that we are scared. A stronger team smashing the Belgians would have been useful. If Brazil et al are renowned to improve as tournaments go on, surely smarter to meet earlier, as I can't see an English improvement. For a second string side thus displayed, I reckon potential opponents are laughing their heads off. Again, we fall on swords because of Belgium.
  6. England looked like Germany tonight! WOO HOO!! Oh, I forgot, that's a bad thing.
  7. Once again, Germany fails to reach Moscow.
  8. Nigeria football looks good when they play in a 3-1-9 formation...

  10. That sounds like your supply is raw. Smoothed dc.
  11. Yes, but you may then need to fiddle with the light wires. ETA the trouble being that the next dcc ready loco you get will need the same treatment ad infinitum. Go with the above suggestion of pos to the RH rail wrt forward movement, that'll tell you which one is playing silly beggars.
  12. Cracking day out, and a cracking loco! What a super soundtrack she has, I saw a good few people jump when she blew off! A few jars onboard in the evening topped it all off. Bern
  13. I spoke to Phil at Railex and he mentioned that he doesn't have show this weekend. Bern
  14. Re; humidity, your friendly shepherd will shear you now. All other fleeces should be deposited in one of the lockers. Have a wash though, ffs. OT Very pleasant today, and non smelly/back packy, just a bit bargy in front of HB. Great gig. Bernie back tomorrow. Dave, I can't give a funny, informative, like, agree, thanks and a friendly click all at once. B
  15. Lovely ride up after escaping London, lovely weather albeit hazy. I don't really know anyone on the 'scene', but it was nice to see Keith; always such a pleasant, knowledgeable chap. C&L didn't have John on the stand. I met him at AP, I would have liked to caught up with him. Is he known as Hayfield on this site? Nice bloke, anyroadup. It was quite easy to move around the venue, but it was thronged at Hornsey Bdwy, but once I caught sight, fully understandable. Pukka. A credit to Mr Hardy (and his team?) Inspired. I may have another look tomorrow, but this time I shall desist from following signs for London which took me on a quite scenic route. As a lapsed Fulham FC fan, the irony was not lost on me, of gridlocked traffic from Denham in, surrounded by Aston Villa fans incoming. It made the the journey a bit longer! Many thanks to a particular visitor when I arrived, I wish him well for his kindness to an unemployed poor boy. A great show, get there if you can. Kind regards, Bernie from Finsburyish edited to add, the stewards in the car park were fantastic, always a space for a Goldwing, albeit a knackered old one!
  16. I have never seen (albeit limited experience) such fantastic slow speed capabilities from a decoder, quite literally 'make a cup of tea,' and come back to witness a vaguely measurable movement in the meantime. it really is a shame that the r8249 cannot do much more. Good luck with your trials and keep us informed. kr, Bernie
  17. Thank you SRman, I have changed my mind, class 40 it will be. 16svt, bit of thrash, love it! TBH, I had not even considered the 40 as I always thought the model looked odd. That'll learn me not to be dismissive. Cheers, buddy! Bern
  18. Here is my problem. I really want some 37 action, but I don't have one yet. I do have an LMS twin by Bachmann. It is not a 37. I'm thinking the unimaginable of chipping the LMS with 37 goodness until I finally acquire said 37. Shall I go and boil my head in a vat of acid, now? Yours in a pit of despair, Bernie
  19. Even with a lisp (lithp?), an extraordinarily apposite description of the chap...
  20. Anyone travelling by rail please be aware of disruption, take a butcher's here for info http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/184179.aspx See you there! Bernie
  21. Bosh. Issue identified and Charlie will fix you up, job jobbed.
