  1. Scrolled down the 'castles' link, and what did l find...... 'Roving Band of Misfits', and 'Teetering by the Well' Hmmm... Come to think of it they could be used for a pub name, and 'Teetering by the Well' as a station..................
  2. Just watched the Bleath Gill Snowdrift video, and was astonished to see that the shovellers didn't have gloves on! Their hands must have been frozen! Used, as l was, in the Metropolitan Police to having stout gloves (at least until l went into CID) to ward off the worst winter could throw at us, you have to admire them!
  3. Toys 'R' Us, and Maplins with the loss of 6,000 jobs, between them. I guess my source of reasonably priced Soldering Iron Stations will go as well. Modern market forces aside, when someone like Carrilion cannot sustain trading, paying huge bonuses to 'Senior Management' but leaving huge deficits in the Pension Funds you have to think the system is severely broken.
  4. 8 inches of snow here in Slapding! Never seen the like! Ah well that's my excuse for not venturing out until, oh, about Saturday........
  5. Sent an expression of interest to David, for 4 of the initial coaches, so here's hoping!
  6. Didn't know you'd produced a wiring diagram. When l said l didn't do 'complicated' l meant slips, etc. Yes, l would agree that isolating sections, and points, are included in my abilities!
  7. With wiring l have always followed the axiom, keep it simple, stupid! After all there's actually little to go wrong that can't be fixed with simple switching of wires about, complicated wiring is beyond me I'm afraid!! There used to be a Railway Modeller pamphlet, which l think l still have, about wiring the layout. If you want l can either scan it and post it to you, or alternatively, just send it.
  8. I must admit to having a chuckle when following the linked thread, and the comments 'What about Muslim sheep?', and the response, 'Don't think sheep are followers of Islamb'...
  9. Did have to pause between awarding you a Friendly/ Supportive, and Herbert Lom in 'full twitch mode' in one of my favourite movies, The Inspector Closeu series. So many choices, so little time.............................
  10. I just cannot understand why wagons built to RCH 1907 standards are not available. They would surely overlap the RCH 1923 versions, by many years in some cases, and be eminently more suitable for pre-grouping use. Instead we have these 'faux' wagons, often not in accurate liveries, which many people run because they are 'pretty'!
  11. Not wishing in any way to lower the tone of the proceedings...............
  12. Yes, it's l think an excellent choice, and it expands the pre-grouping series back to 1905-6. A bit of judicious T-cutting is called for on the name and perhaps the number too..... The GNR C1 Atlantic is another fine choice. It might just be a bit difficult to get them running on the same track................still that's what scene blockers are for...........
  13. Xuron rail cutters are, for me, a must. The amount of time they save alone makes them a worthwhile investment. No more slicing scenery, no more "bu&&rit, didn't mean to cut it there!", and no more saw cuts, which take a hell of a time to heal, either!
  14. In Lyonshall, Herefordshire, where l lived for many years, the local pub had some photos on display, showing snow up to the windows of the pub, and the windows were sited quite high up, probably 6 feet at least to the lower cills. Local farmers were unable to get their usual milk collections, so they donated the milk for free to the village from the backs of tractors. Oh, and sheep walked out of the fields over the hedges!! Those that didn't die from being buried in snowdrifts, that is.
  15. Here's Wishing Edwardian, and all those who follow his delightful posts (other posts are available.....) A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
  16. Chaz, I echo the sentiments above. May you and yours have an outstanding Christmas and New Year, and if you find the opportunity to keep posting photos, I for one won't complain!!
  17. Only on RMWeb would we (and particularly in the Castle Aching thread) find a stunning female form superseded by a reference to a Chimbley...................... as Dick Van Dyke would say......!!!
  18. Oh dear! Just what l needed on a cold & frosty morning! But tell me is LMAO something in common parlance these days? If not it should be!!
  19. As an old cycling friend of mine invariably says, "That wind in Lincolnshire comes straight off the Russian Urinals.........."
  20. Oh dear, I varied between 'craftsmanship/clever' for post 6364, and 'funny' for the quote about the girlfriend! Couldn't make up my mind, but in the end opted for 'funny' as you had several 'craftsmanship/clever' already!!
  21. Might l suggest one of the Tamiya masking tapes, that I've had some success with? Mostly on aircraft and ship models admittedly, but l can see no reason they shouldn't work equally well on locos. They do, l think, a low tack version, but you might have to seek out an aircraft modelling shop to find it. I think a pale green would look fine on the loco, but you might need to spray an undercoat to 'kill' the pink!
  22. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but in the Hornby Collector Club (as they term it!) for the Spalding Exhibition, there was a 'black image' of the club model, which is apparently to be 'unveiled' at Warley. Before anyone gets too excited it appears to be yet another variant of the H class tank loco, perhaps it will be painted in Wartime Dazzle camouflage.............. l don't think there are many variants they haven't done.
  23. Visited today, still my favourite local show! Squires stand v. busy (as always!) but managed to pick up an excellent ba&tard file, plus a few things l didn't even know l needed............. Exhibitors were friendly too, despite the odoriferous nature of a few of the 'rubbernecks', l think it was a good show. I'll certainly be back next year.
  24. An excellent series, Chaz, thank you so much for the photos of your, again, excellent stock!
