I might take a little out of the frame and boiler to make it fit the chassis. A T8 and 15/16ths if you will!
-
I don't think I could bring myself to ever hack up a model Not a bad idea to find a cheap tender chassis and chop up the watercart
-
I'm on the lookout for a suitable tender as the few T9s that were allocated to the Eastern Section didn't have the watercart behind them as it made them too long for Kentish turntables
-
I, on the other hand, had absolutely no problem chopping it to the point where its genuinely and 0-4-4 and not the 0-4-2-2 that Chadwick uses
-
The Q1 0-4-4 I'm building had 5'6 drivers, which is why I thought the M7 would be good. Instead I had to use a 14xx which only has 5'2 drivers
-
Thankfully making those baseboards isn't rocket surgery I might have to take a look at the C8 then
-
Did they ever bother to change them to the correct size with the newer models?
-
Its the 5mm foamboard from art supply and craft shops. I used plenty of PVA and tape to hold it together This section is 5.5 feet by 18 inches and I have another 4 foot by 18 inch section. The extra small piece is to house my controller and point switches eventually. I just need a couple more sheets for backscenes and cross bracing. Total cost so far is under £20 with absolutely zero carpentry skills required

I wonder how many locos they used the same chassis for...
-
If you're an LSWR fan make sure you're sitting down as today's heathenry involves a GBL T9 and an M7 chassis installed backwards SECR meets LSWR on the WKR I know the M7 wheelbase isn't quite right but it doesn't look entirely hideous. The inside of the body needs a little fettling for it to run properly, which can be for another day
-
Especially the yellow stuff!
-
For some reason the picture uploaded twice. I only have 2 rolls

Not too much to update but the Q1 has couplings, although not great for when in push mode and there's a cavernous gap between the loco and coaches However, with the coaches using old Mainline couplings has resulted in a much more acceptable gap between the coaches I managed to find another Mainline coupling and liberated a coupling from a Dapol wagon, giving a much better result I must give that coach a touch up soon!

It was definitely the wire causing the issue as I somehow managed to solder it back on and now the chassis runs forwards and backwards
-
Everytime I see IPA mentioned on here I always wonder how a beer will help I should get myself some of the modelling IPA though
-
When I first got the loco it ran in both directions but the red wires are now almost completely disconnected, which possibly happened when I removed the body

If I lived closer I definitely would! -

Anyone want to build a time machine so I can have this job and uniform? -
Well, what started off as having a look at the kit, quickly progressed to seeing how some of the parts go together and ended up as this... The body is in two parts so I can give it a spray when the weather is better. I will also give the driving coach another spray and I'm thinking of giving all the coaches a thin band of lining between the purple and cream
-
Today's arrival I haven't built a full kit since a couple of Ian Kirk Maunsell coaches a very long time ago. I may have to order something to give it a bit more weight. I have seen car wheel balancing weights used inside rolling stock so I may look into that
-
It'll be a little unorthodox as I've already built the baseboards out of foamboard
