  1. Never owned a Flying Scotsman as the LNER wasn't my thing, unless my current exploits on the pugbash thread count. I think the BoB is the only tender engine I've ever owned and looking back Spitfire was an odd choice by Hornby as it was involved in a fatal accident in 1957...
  2. I was 15 in 1991, had a Sega Megadrive, listened to Nirvana and owned a Hornby Battle of Britain class and the old Triang EMU so it was possible to do all three. Plus table top roleplay and live roleplay games, story writing, art....
  3. It will hopefully be my attempt at an SECR H class 0-4-4. The WKR needs a bigger tank engine for the hop pickers specials during the summer. Nellie might gain a leftover pagoda style cab...
  4. A bit of carving out of the insides of the worst of the bodies has it currently sitting on the 14xx chassis at what appears to be the right height although the side tanks do bulge out very slightly. Still, I'm pleased that what I'm intending is possible, also confirmed by what I read last night
  5. I'm planning to keep a couple as R1s with some detailing and also make an 0-4-4. I've seen elsewhere that someone made a reasonable attempt at an H using an Airfix 14xx chassis and a pony truck, which is exactly what I want to do
  6. Don't worry, I got the humour from this. The obvious reason yours would be better is my wonky cutting of plasticard isn't in your mind
  7. Probably not a straight line on it but it's all my own work. The buffer beam is from the back of the Hornby Holden tank this monstrosity will be attached to. The Nellie I bought is only going to get a respray and some tarting up now.
  8. Having taken Corbs' advice, this is the state of play this evening Much shorter, though I do need to find something to bring under the saloon portion
  9. It could be the angle. At least I hope it is! The Bug was the kind of thing I was after but with a push/pull flavour, though I could probably get away with a small turntable at the end of the WKR
  10. Well, after attacking some plasticard I have this. The pony truck is just there for show, the directors saloon will probably end up on a bogie. As basic as the 4 wheeled coach is I thought it was still too nice to chop up
  11. I wanted to say the Percy cab looked overly spacious, but second guessed myself
  12. To quote Helmet & House of Pain; "Just another victim!" The plan now is part bodge, part scratchbuild and seeing as I've never scratchbuilt before, what could possibly go wrong?!? Nellie's got quite some heft to her compared to my original bodge...
  13. On the steampunk loco? If so, how about the toolboxes from a Pug kit? Small but enough to fill the gap partly
  14. Time for a update on WKR no.1. The M4 nuts and bolts may be overkill but body and chassis will not be parted easily. A little more filling here and there and it'll be time to start thinking about painting.
  15. A little bit of the body was fouling the very end of the worm so a little carving and a washer added between the chassis and body have helped. I going to do the same to the rear of the chassis to give it an even lift. Might get a circle of track so I can run in the motor too. Thanks for all the suggestions and assistance (I'm such a noob!)
  16. Nothing appears to be fouling as far as I can see (excuse the nails!) The motor buzzes and smokes a little with the body on, but no movement
  17. Hmmmmm the chassis runs, just not with the body on. Where have I gone wrong?
