  1. Already got a Q1 in primer grey minus it's boiler skirt, just need a chassis to park it on
  2. Hmmmmm an SECR Q1 in grey and some clerestories in purple lake maybe....
  3. It has to be olive green as I'm modelling a sensible time period, not like you strange pre grouping types
  4. That's far too much Brighton for my liking! Anyway, both clerestories are now sporting several coats of Ashford's finest olive green (who's she? ) and their roofs have had their meeting with Mr Razor Saw. A quick spray of primer and a smearing of filler has us eagerly awaiting the sanding process. Having consulted my copy of Russell, the former J72 body has had its dome repositioned. The body will require plenty of bracing and filler, but it looks to be in proportion with the drawing within. Speaking of the Russell book, I found an error which was missed during editing, ironically in the Q1 section! A picture of what is claimed to be a Q1 pictured with a pagoda roof. Unfortunately it was an H instead but we'll let it slide as the book is a fantastic resource. I'll post some pictures in the morning for your perusal
  5. Saturday at 10:30 is @BlueLightning's idea of a really good time!
  6. I have a few scrap chassis knocking about, what's the best way to get the wheels off?
  7. An R1 I haven't chopped up to make a Q1! Still needs a few things to finish it off but I'm shocked at how easy its been to put transfers onto my locos 3/5ths of the Southern locos needed for Chart Sutton plus the Quarry shunter that is sitting on my unfinished diorama. As an aside, is there a nice easy way to drop Hornby wagons/vans down to a better buffer height?
  8. I'll make another contribution to the Gary wages fund after I get paid
  9. My R1 now has an identity Need to order some chimney caps as well as wire and handrail knobs. Oh, and a working chassis for the R1!
  10. It's only a small branch line so it doesn't need too many locos
  11. I still have most of a tube of filler that I bought last year so no problems there. I would think that 5 locos would be enough for my eventual layout Q1 x2 R1 T C Quarry works shunter Though the second Q1 can wait a while until I get another working chassis
  12. I've been told that the J72 chassis is close enough to make it work, which makes things so much easier
  13. It's all your fault! Everything so far has been done by guesswork but I'm liking how it looks so far. It'll need plenty of filler to get it looking better
  14. Nothing wrong with having a few projects on the go. Speaking of which... Probably not quite right, but I do have the Russell book of Southern locos on its way
  15. Just realised I've posted plenty in the Pugbash thread and not my own! C class from a GBL static model and an Airfix 4F. Yes that is a future victim in the background I think you can tell where this is going... Don't worry, this won't stay like this. I chopped off the clerestory part and will replace it with plasticard. Hopefully I can get myself a brake coach to do the same to
  16. I can't take the credit for it, it was all @BlueLightning's fault! It's cost me less than £40 so far. I do need handrails and a crew to complete it
  17. The sun was out this morning so I took the opportunity for some garden shots A C class hauling a short mixed goods. It actually works too as @BlueLightningcan confirm! The glossy paintjob is so glossy it was reflecting my pink phone case Next stage is handrails Coming back the other way was the branch line passenger service Even the Boughton Quarry shunter decided to get in on the action! Next victim already in primer grey. Hopefully I can get the brake coach soon for a more branch line rake of coaches
