@goldngreen Happy 2023!
Photography is not my day job but I did study it to city & guilds level before we went digital so here are some tips, ..
- Focus - I am not sure what is behind your wide angle lens. I have canon systems and I can use the back screen to focus and more importantly zoom into to check focus.
- Depth of Field - To get the best from the depth of filed pick a point 1/3 into your scene, say the back edge of the coal bunker on the right of your scene.
- Lighting - I think the only thing letting down your lovely photo is some shadows on the back scene . So to try and get a bit of a wash of light onto it to reduce the shadow behind the tree and just to the left of the water tower. That'll give you a better illusion of depth.
- Composition - Possibly add a couple of figures in the grass foreground walker farmers etc. this should add more depth and create more of a story
- White Balance - The picture could maybe a bit warmer though it all looks a bit green. The right White balance can give you a nice period feel as well
This might get your shot form 8/10 to 10/10 as it is already pretty good, so have fun and experiment

@mikeOxon I help run the web as I work on Azure for Microsoft in the UK we haven't lost data per se but user error is problem whether you are software engineer or a consumer. So I still keep my stuff on a qnap server and my blog posts are in OneNote.

I also fell foul of the great train photo robbery on here - so thanks for putting the effort in. I haven't done all of mine as I did a lot on railmaster and I have now moved onto iTrain but you have inspired me to get back into it

so these posts are old posts I have updated. I have built my layout to plan and while it works but is very light on scenery which I am gradually working on. I love the hills and valleys on yours while it's a bit more gentle than that in Sussex. I do wish scarm had better tools for buildings and so on and for extra credit a few UK locos in the train simulator

Loving the look and the subtle scenery. Also do you make your own buildings and so on

we have totally got to have a chat - my problem is the higher sections of my backscene are angled in as I am in the loft:I did my clouds by hand with a car sponge dipped in white acrylic and have tried to get the 3d curve round the corners, but I do like what yu hav achieved as much. I do have a good Harder airbrush but very new to using it

I don't think I am related to Jesus or Pinocchio as my carpentry skills are crap so loving your work as I aspire to the precision you are achieving

can you still get that lorry - I have some Dapol Harvey;s wagons and I am modelling Sussex too albeit in Hasting interwar. I might have a go at making this based on blog. Well done for your humility and honesty - we have all suffered from glue on the fingers you are among friends

@C126 Your are very kind, but looking at my uploads I should have gone to specsavers! I have a huge file to do my mitring and that helps as it's heavy and I can run the section along it too make sure the edge is square, but the angle is by eye and I figure if I over do it the edges will meet OK and then use those wills fillets to reinforce the corners but I'd love a gizmo too . I use a battery operated dremel with a cutting disc too but that starts to melt the material.

I am also on this journey, the corners for me are the challenge I have Ina wrights book on Will and do the mitring thing I do fil the joints and then use a jewellers fret saw to re-establish the horizontal mortar joints but its very slow. I have tried laser brick cut kits but these also fall down on the corners. I have attached a couple of goes at this a standard will craftsman pub and a scratch built signal box with lcut.co.uk windows and wills for the brickwork and windows

Just wanted to say I do like SCARM too but development seems to have stopped and not very UK orientated which is shame - and here's my loft layout with holes where I crawl under rafters etc.
-
It was harder to retro fit than I anticipated (I am rubbish at soldering), and I am having some niggles in the logic so far but I wanted to have more than one train moving at once and for the system to resolve contentions. If you are interested we can have a chat

Just a word of caution here - The guys on the Hornby forums reckon that trying to program a train on a rolling road is unreliable as the current is so low (1 amp). However I am using a new rolling road and generally by new stock and use copper wire to get the signal to the rolling road and I have had no issues with this. I do find it's RailMaster that's unreliable and I can prove this as I can always read and write the loco id using the control on the Hornby Elite directly.

woodenhead I was just wondering that, so thank for making me think it was not such a crazy idea. Also I am out of pec lifts so hopefully our friends in Bere Regis can make some more soon

Not treally related but what is the second front bogey truck for? I want t try and experiment with removing the front nem pocket on it
-
Genius, waiting for the City of London to arrive so I can follow suit

You should get a job with Hattons to help with their new carriages, this is lovely work

My challenge here is which ones?
I have mostly newer Hornby stock with NEM pockets. I only really worry about uncoupling a rake from a loco so what's best for Southern region pre- nationalisation in the UK?
-
For me the composition is great and the execution is excellent.I can draw but I have never really thought to draw locomotives before () (except from a model) and my landscape skills are not up to it, so feeling a bit inadequate seeing this, but do keep them coming. Also is this your day job?
-
OK so now I am really impresses you have your own laser cutter :-) please tell us more
-
My annoyance with laser etched mdf like the kits you are using is a good finish on the corners where there is brickwork like on your platform, so what is experience with that?
A Boxing Post.

@Ravenser Since the demise of the loco lifts from Peco I have been looking for an affordable alternative and this might be it. Reviews like this take time to make so thanks for doing this.
