  1. Four in a series of Four  - the  City of London probably never pulled an ambulance train and it's unlikely that such a train ever crossed the Royal Albert bridge either, so quite a lot of artistic license here

To see the series please check out my art website DeepFat Design

  2. Mallard at Almwick with the Coronation Train.  Next up City of London passing the Royal Albert Bridge

  3. Friends I need some help with this one ..

Did Mallard have a tender with a corridor connection to the coaches it was pulling before I  finish painting the coaches on this illustration I am working on of Mallard passing Alnmouth

      Fair Oak Junction

As far as I know during LNER days Mallard ran with a streamlined non-corridor tender, only gaining one in BR days. But there are probably others who know more concrete info about it.

Ask on one of the Threads e.g. Wright Writes? Then you will be overwhelmed withanswers.

  4. Channel Packet 1946 Shakespeare Tunnel pulling the Golden ArrowIMG_20240115_150529282.jpg.a8bf42e8c43a1d9197ebdab1f13279d3.jpg

  5. It's too cold to brave the loft so working on my second big 4 painting Channel Packet pulling the golden Arrow throw Shakespeare's tunnel. It not about rivet counting it's a tribute to those old travel posters.

    IMG_20240111_113049472.jpg

  6. For each side of my loft layout I'll be doing a travel poster inspired  painiting from each of the big 4.  This is the first one the Coronation Scot.  Next up will be the Golden Arrow leaving Shakespeare Tunnel, then LNER Mallard , finishing up with Achilles (a Dean Single)  from GWR

  7. Hornby don't seem keen on doing the coronation Scot in maroon, so here's some work in progress inspired by railway artist Norman Wilkinson.

I am also looking at my Coronation Scot in what they call as preserved and the really deep grooves and rivets plus the colour seem to make the thing of beauty in the NRM look very dowdy

  8. I hangout on RMWeb to get the help I need and share my expertise if I can help others.  A great example this morning is  that I am now able to get loconet detection working on the bridge of my ADM turntable after some deep technical advice from @Andymsa and I made a new friend too :-)  .

  9. Peco Loco modular lifts are great for my Bachmann crane, and most locos, but need plan B for my storing away railway gun:

The gun "footplates" are only left down for firing.  In transit they are stowed.  Perhaps consider stowing them and then it will fit into the lifting box.

they don't feel detachable, but I am having to make changes anyway - there is an awful seam down the gun so I need to sand fill and spray to fix, so this is trivial by comparison. I do love this forum for all the friendly advice like yours

  10.  I ordered some peco PT-61 what's the longest chain of these e.g to carry a Rapido apt-e at 1200mm

If you know the length of the track panels it's only a bit of maths.

    3. St Enodoc

      St Enodoc

The Peco instructions recommend a maximum of four modules, i.e. two PT-61 double units (total length 600mm less space for the two end slides). I suspect that the limiting factor is the strength of the joining pieces. If you wanted to go longer, I'd suggest a strengthening strip along the sides.

thanks all yes I have read the manual watched some videos on the PT-61 and have ordered a load now that they are actually available. However as with everything - I am interested on what has actually been done by other members

  11. Bodging with Will Craftsman kits..

hopefully the won't melt in a puddle but even hotter in the loft

  12. Adding some of old posts on my layout design following the great photo robbery 😆 on RMWeb now I have time

  14. Further to my last status update is it worth sharing how I designed and built my layout again?

  15. Fixing and polishing old blog posts now I ma gold again and have time to fix the great disappearing images problem on RMWeb🤓

  16. Learning to airbrush with a new Harder and Steenbeck infinity - the plan is to mod some Bachmann midland coaches into a proper ambulance train20210411_115720.jpg.06061b50a5f2968e78ce843f03587dc9.jpg

  17. successfully restored the pictures in my last three blog posts from my cloud drive as that is backed up to three machines in UK South and three more in UK west (shameless plug for Azure)

  18. I am so sad all my pics have gone from my blog,  not that anyone was reading them but good to show friends.  I really wish I could have been able to advise the RMWeb team on how to do this better as my high availability and disaster recovery experience have essentially paid for my layout many time over.  My images and posts are backed up of course but a paint o put everything back so I think I'll delete them and maybe start again

  19. I've put my money down for the Rapido Titfield Thunderbolt, and other enthusiast with a similar sense of fun out there?

not sure about that but if I lived closer to Rapido I'd want to be their graphic designer and here's a Hornby T9 I sketched with real pencils

  20. Hi AVS1998, I am also modelling Hastings and so I have Pullmans and the usual SR coaches.

My father moved us to Hastings in 1966 and he went to st Olaves grammar school during WWII so I have that loco on my layout.

My mission is to build the amazing Hastings station as constructed in 1931 ..

    image.png.ffffbf0b52fe6cd31bfe371700369342.png

this is the plan but I am a long way from finishing the scenery, as I am currently finishing up automation & detection.  However I am interested in your layout and your sources for research.

I mean PM on here deepfat. Many folk are mistaking the two message facilities.

  21. These new additions to my layout are very smooth, but I am not sure I have the capacity for a rake of six

You mean to say that Pullmans don’t carry their own relief facilities? :o

  22. I am taking photos of my loco collection and resizing them down for ITrain (360x160)

  23. Hornby seem to have given up on DCC - still no detection options here..

so it's time to move on..

    20210707_105822.jpg.85d83121daff892cf858cba3890b2f4b.jpg

and yes it is going in the bin as I don't think it's fair to inflict this on fellow enthusiasts and certainly not with RailMaster

  24. Roundhouse planning, based on Horsham and Eastbourne examples.  10 degree angle and 330mm front to back.  I am  not sure on what construction technique to use I prefer embossed or laser cut brickwork but the challenge is always getting good looking corners. Any suggestions most welcome
