  1. Cool, it might just be up to Scotland soon then as I've yet to see it.
  2. https://www.a1steam.com/2018/09/20/tornado-repair-update-3/ Can anyone tell us if it did haul passengers last weekend on the NVR?
  3. There's a lot of luck needed in wildlife photography, it's a nice shot.
  4. We are lucky to stil have these round here.
  5. Female Sparrow Hawk(the males are grey and smaller)
  6. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-derbyshire-45572251/duchess-of-sutherland-back-in-action-after-overhaul Another loco back into the roster of available machines
  7. Hi Peter, thanks for thinking of me, not scared by the thought of DCC, before retiring I used to write and modify PLC programs as part of my job as an engineer, also used to re-program Robots too in the automotive industry on their automated equipment. If I want sound I will run a soundtrack of some real live locos(at present I don't), if I really wanted several miles of wiring, I can do that too, I used to wire up control panels as part of my apprenticeship for marine radar equipment. What my railway model will do is run like the Great Central, which was mostly run mechanically, apart from some lighting and a few traffic light signals at Leicester station, it will take me back to my yoof when train spotting lineside.
  8. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-birmingham-45564589/steam-trains-to-return-to-the-west-midlands-mainline Sounds like a great idea with possibly more to come?
  9. Thanks Ray, I wasn't sure on the early emblem dates either, I'm just a youngster you see, I wasn't born until March in 1950, so was a bit young to notice in the November lol.
  10. I'll risk it and book my tickets for next years trip north of the border(though I doubt 100 mph is possible between Edinburgh and Aberdeen)
  11. Could be handy for landfill, save dispoiling the countryside.
  12. Most informative thread, helps me make my mind up, I shall stay well away from DCC and remain analogue.
  13. I shall be in the cheap seat with my picnic lol
  14. https://www.a1steam.com/2018/09/12/the-aberdonian/ I finally will get a chance(breakdowns excepted) to both ride behind this loco and to photograph it passing through our village, just hope it doesn't get cancelled like this years proposed visit.
  15. Thanks Darryl odd thing is the Hornby model has a BR roundel not British Railways in print, kinda hoped it might have made it into the bottom of my time scale, oh well, modeler's licence might just kick in here.
  16. Hi, I've tried googling to no effect, but is there a list of dates as to when colour changes took place, in particular A3 Pretty Polly, I am considering adding a model to my model of the Great Central and the one I am looking at is painted blue. As I model 1955 to 1965 period, I just wondered if I am in the correct livery for the period, I don't recall seeing it in blue, but the memory is definitely not what it was. T
  17. Is the plan to use a method of locking these difficult to access nuts, or did the prototype not do this? I might be tempted to add a bit of "thread lock" if spring washers or cotter pins are not permitted.
  18. Iron, Lion, Zion- Bob Marley & the Wailers
  19. Another Brick in the Wall-Pink Floyd
  20. As they get on, there's a shortage of original members, there's only 3 Stones and half the Who left.
