  1. Absolutely. Vastly easier to remove one than add one for the end user. You can see from this picture http://www.modelrailforum.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=Hornby-Shark The chimney is more than a bit of tube, and from these pictures http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/43715-shark-attack/ often remains of the chimney base were left in place.
  2. It seems a decent return looking at other polls and the model of the year thing. Don't be too disheartened. Yes RMweb has a big membership but active members is probably only a couple of hundred. A good example of this is the DJM yellow j94 which had large stocks sold off to a retailer. Or the Coventry event a few years ago which was very sparsely attended on the Saturday when I was there.
  3. I think the poll might be a good move for feedback for the newer smaller manufacturers. I'm assuming someone at Oxford requested it or was at least consulted first? I look forward to the same poll being applied at all future releases, it could end up a very good, at a glance guide. Edited - although I think we should remember it's just an opinion poll and we don't know how qualified that opinion is.
  4. You conveniently edited out the 'other than as an industrial operation' bit which was the most relevant part of the statement.
  5. Thanks Great Northern So you are kind of like the project manager or the producer of a film and you hire in the talent you need to achieve your vision? It's certainly a fabulous result however you are getting there.
  6. Hello Great Northern Those look great. Reading through the thread there seems to be a lot of contributors to this layout. Is it a group project?
  7. None of these skies are working for me Allan. They seem to just draw attention away from the modelling.
  8. Not sure a shark is a lot of use to a side tipping wagon is it?
  9. Agreed. It does look very clunky at the moment. look forward to seeing the next sample.
  10. Hello Alan One comment is weeds usually don't grow through the sleepers themselves. It's best to just try to ensure they are only in the ballast
  11. I thought the merry go round concept and class 71s both dated from 1958?
  12. Did the class have slow speed control? Could the real locomotive actually crawl really slowly?
  13. I don't mean to be picky but shouldn't where the puddle is be the highest part of the roof? Surely you need it to drain away from the middle?
  14. Me too! I really need several of these.
  15. I certainly would love to see a DJ Models Facebook page. Just look at how many people follow Hornby if you doubt Facebooks reach.
  16. Aren't kernow involved in this too like they were the 71? http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/pg/158/DJ-Models-Class-74-Project-Page By that logic perhaps we shouldn't expect any updates on the update thread so asking on this thread would be proper?
  17. True but it is something of a generic statement. I've seen updates on the bullied diesel, the big warship and the clay tigers are in stock but they don't seem to be mentioned on the list either.
  18. Until the model is out how could anyone possibly know?
  19. Does that model shop still exist do you know?
