    On Pointless, nobody ever says, "I'd like to see questions about railways come up".

     

    And when asked what they would do with the prize money, no-one ever says, "Well Xander, I'd buy a huge shed and build the model railway of my dreams".

      (I’m assuming that these people are drawn from the general populace, not a railway meet)

      Depends on your definition of 'Pre Grouping'. 

       

      If you mean railways that existed up until 31/12/1922, I can name about 20

       

      However if the net is pushed wider to allow railways which amalgamated prior 1o 1922/3 (e.g. the various railways which combined to form the LNWR, or those the GWR had already taken over), I could probably get a significantly higher figure.
