  1. Receive next set of CIMA exam results in the morning - a poor nights sleep ahead....

  2. No I am suggesting they should be run as part of an integrated transport system that considers wider impacts than just that within the four foot. I just plain don't understand how a wait of 8.5 minutes for a single train to pass can be justified - especially as anecdotal evidence suggests this is not unusual across the network
  3. Simply because if the wider economy effects were taken into account these crossings may well still be under local, knowledgeable control rather than CCTV control from many miles away from the situation. However CCTV control is cheaper than a number of bods in boxes along the line, so the railway justifies its current procedures on a cost to the railway basis.
  4. IMHO I think the answer to that is it costs the railway less to manage it that way...If the railways were run for the public benefit then the wider costs to society could be taken into account in these decisions...but I will not go further into this to ensure I stay within forum rules
  5. Just discovered the shower wiring in the bathroom is unsuitable for a shower....great!

is it intended for a power shower rather than a heating type 8/9kw shower?

Some of the early electric showers were only 3 or 4Kw and were wired in 4mm

  11. In terms of general retail rules your contract is between you and the retailer, not the manufactorer. Have you contacted them at all about this?
  12. Was'nt one sent via a trade show in Europe last year and so arrived via the tunnel?
  13. Bit more modern? http://www.flickr.com/photos/tunnyspics/5140755181/in/photostream
  14. Well the last design wasnt working for me as I had no room to extend. I have therefore decided to go for a two sided layout on four 3'x 15" boards (layout attached). The board with the crossover will have a hill/Tunnel arrangement over it and control equipment inside the curve/railer on the siding. I am still with the Kato unitrack because I have to much to get rid of - I did carefully consider it this time as it does lead to a larger curve radius requirement than other track types.
  15. gone full circle - pulled up all laid track etc. V5.0 will be a roundy roundy - blaming model rail and NGA journal...

  16. just taken the dremel to my kato 4" points - low hassle indeed.....

  17. Ok then so I am finally starting my first layout for a while and intend to get it to a point of running some trains this time.... The plan is based around Newquay but with part of the original yard left in and what ever I wish to run making an appearance....Thanks are due to Donw in his comments on the design stage. I dont like flat boards but dont have the patience/skill to finish woodwork for multiple levels with smooth track, so am trying to build this layout as foam insulation with a thin layer of Mod roc over the top to stop it crumbling everywhere. This should hopefully give me all the track on a higher level and some scenic work on the lower front. Now do I go for a retaining wall and some industrial scenes or cliff faces and a more seasidy (or is that seedy) front.
  18. Found a GWR railcar in my drawer that I cannot remember buying.....
