Not wishing to start off on a tangent away from the main topic of the thread, but I agree, and find it remarkable that there is such a discrepancy between Hornby's LSWR 48ft stock and Bachmann's Birdcage stock when it comes to price.

I completely agree, and was pretty astounded by it myself. You're talking to a predominantly GWR modeller. Manors are quite well known in and around the country, and can be found on a number of preserved lines - many in steam. That potential alone along with the livery variations presented more than enough of an argument for a very profitable retool at this current point in the market, particularly with both Hawksworth and Collett coaching stock available from Hornby. I have literally quoted what I heard. Take it as you will. We'll see in the new year whether any noises come from Barwell to that effect.

I was at the Bachmann returns stand yesterday at about 10:30. I stood near the front, and two of the guys in white Bachmann polo's were talking about a few things, including invites to the Bachmann Christmas dinner, and new releases. The one asked if anything exciting had been announced, to which he replied `not really', but he said that the main highlight was the GWR Mogul. It was a toss up between that and the Manor, but it was felt that there was more potential in the Mogul as it was a larger class size. I went to the Bachmann site once I got back in the evening, but could find no mention of it. I found this forum and followed this thread, but again couldn't find anything said, so I asked because perhaps I thought i'd missed an announcement that was made at the show early in the morning as I only arrived at about 10. Can anyone else confirm if anything was said, or any announcement was made of this kind early on?

I've had a look through the thread, but I can't see any mention of the planned retool for the GWR Mogul. Has this been made official yet?
