  1. A bit of history with the boring (!) bits cut out: It is the year 1966 and the village/town of Pattingham is losing its railway connection. The branch is a link route between the LNWR mainline B'ham >> Telford >> Shrewsbury and a cross-country GWR branch taking a winding route from B'ham Snow Hill>> Wednesbury Jcn>> Upper Penn>> Wombourne Blakeley>> Claverley>> Bridgnorth and towards Shrewsbury, although onwards doesn't concern us (Neither does the B'ham to Claverley Section). There is a Bridgnorth-facing junction around Upper Ludstone, taking us towards Pattingham and the mainline. Fast forward a few decades: We are well into the modern era and a group of 4 preservationists from the SVR are part of a team re-building the Bridgnorth>> Pattingham>> Cosford (of RAF fame) section, providing an expanded heritage network and trains for RAF Cosford public events. An abandoned loco is being nursed back to life by a female volunteer whilst two of her colleagues are chatting away in the foreground. You might be able to make out the man in blue hiding behind the loco trying to figure out what his sister is doing to the loco. The wagon was left abandoned on the line at closure and has just been cleaned out, so the inside is fairly proper. Mr Sharp's hut has been given a new sign and is awaiting installation. Perhaps the next cakebox will include the same line with a Pannier on it? I think this will be the sole diorama I make under competition conditions, but I might put up some bigger ones or non-competition ones up in the same section. I sincerely hope Mr Editor doesn't lock the section in the future and permit us to put up CBC-inspired dioramas in here. A bit of a game to encourage attention: See if you can spot the following in this image: A Cow Man in blue Messy modelling The female preservationist Modelling errors Poor weathering Well, please enjoy the following gallery and happy modelling.
  2. That's fine, just georeferenced 25-inch maps don't show you the power station and modern satellite obviously shows a 'too new' layout. The clarification that would help is if you could re-draw the satellite map in your first post so that North is 'up'. I should be able to muddle through it from there. Thanks!
  3. I would like to have done a bit of 'scouting' for you, but I can't really figure out the approx. route you mean. Will retry.
  4. And what about self-designed ones? I.e. I need someone to cut them.
  5. Hi, do any of you guys do laser cut baseboards to measure cheaply and quickly?
  6. The Thornbury one fooled me as the same one...
  7. A pointer: NLS have updated their maps and the whole of Birkenhead is covered.
  8. Well, whilst considering the main station as a magnum opus, the cutting next to the Lycée Colbert could make quite a good 'plank' layout (or part of one) in HO... Where to get those iconic trams?
  9. It could be worth a look, but some shunting, reversing and stopping helps.
  10. Whilst I'm working in N, some medium-sized 'Gare Lyonnais' could be made in HO
  11. Part-Dieu has more operational interest...
  12. What's the best choice for a scenic break on a 'raised arches' layout? I'm modelling Lyon Part-Dieu, very much a King's Cross Edinburgh Waverley of France, in terms of importance. The layout (even in 1:160 N) would need 4m-ish for a decent length station of just under 1km. Any help with managing this giant or the scenic break appreciated!
  13. I am thinking of modelling Lyon Part-Dieu due to its excellent variety: SNCF Fret coming through, TGVs from the whole of France, Eurostars, AVEs, TERs, Intercités and even sleepers. It's hard to think of anything that would have the slightest chance of operating in France being 'not realistic'. The only snag (other than the length etc.) is that there's not scenic break for miles on either end. Any ideas?
  14. If you want some fun, just freelance it...
  15. As a modern image modeller (LGVs etc.), concrete is definitely needed, wood only works on sidings...
  16. Just through plain track... On a similar note, will 00 go through P4? I would only want cheaper N points anyway.
  17. I don't know whether it should be in the P-Way section or any other section, but I have a question- Does N gauge stuff (relatively new) run on 2FS track? I'm not interested in conversions, just the better look of the track. Furthermore, I will use Code 55 or 80 points and track from the Peco range, so very much a 2FS as a supplementary track.
  18. It would be even more huge if it was 00 or HO
  19. That's the layouts name. The modeller must have taken the name (and added LU station) then put it on arches.
  20. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22353] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uxbridge_Vine_Street_railway_station http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=22441&start=0 http://www.abandonedstations.org.uk/Uxbridge_Vine_Street_line.html Might not be a fantasy after all. Featured in Dec or Oct (Maybe Sep) 2013 hope it helps.
  21. I reckon only a rail enthusiast would buy it- a 'barn conversion'. It takes some basic skill to spot the S&C pedigree, and for 475k.
  22. UXBRIDGE VINE STREET, a fantasy N layout 11' x 1, looks like NCL Hmkt in the 60s. Haven't got more details- yet.
