  1. just had this pop up on my facebook feed https://www.facebook.com/GIAdventure.Fans/videos/1842810292429492/
  2. the track over barmouth bridge leads to a narrow gauge railway so that could throw up interesting options
  3. i am hols there at the moment (barmouth ) check rails all the way from the tunnel mouth to the other side on the wooden part the rails are raised and the check rails are higher than the running rails will take some pics whilst i am here and post some brm magazine aug 2017 has a layout feature on barmouth station
  4. wouldnt be surprised if they havent changed just enough to stay legal
  5. as these are a copy of tcs decoders this may be a clue page 17 on manual gives instructions for enabling stay alive https://tcsdcc.com/Customer_Content/Technical_Info/Tech_Manuals/Comprehensive%20Programming%20Guide.pdf
  6. got hold of an electrofrog point and it goes over so that is the way to go it needed a silly amount of lead before it would go over insulfrog edit only question now is why does my tatty old one with thin wire connections to the front and back wheels go over but the new Hornby with brass connections to all wheels stall
  7. sons a tyre fitter so will have a word when i give him a lift in tomorrow get some of the sticky backed ones they use for alloy wheels
  8. on the iold app when you selected a cv there was a button to push to test to see what it did and you could pick the best icon eg is it a low high horn or a single tone
  9. ren it around with a big roll of solder on top and it clered the points so it look like i shll have to raid my fishing gear for a bit of lead weight for ballast
  10. they are rad 2-3 curved points and the old one goes around at a creep so am pretty sure its engine related so will keep investigating that i have bent the contacts a touch to ensure they are making good contact with the wheels no matter where they are in relation to the body i will have to try it on some of the standard points ps it will go over a good speed but not on creep
  11. tried rocking from side to side and that didnt help but pushing down did build quality is pretty poor the body rocks freely on the chassis d looked at going for electro frogs which makes sense but would mean taking up a lot of track to replace the 4 curved Hornby point i have using printed templates at the moment to see how i can minimise disruption expect i will have to go to normal rather than curved point
  12. i have the dcc clips fitted to all of the points it stalls as the leading wheels are going over the frog in both forward or reverse
  13. yes so far still in the process of converting others and these are the only 2 short wheelbase engines i have should add its 3 different point of the same type only thought i have is the wheels are lifting some how but cant see that they are and would think if the frog is lifting on the outside rail it would do the same when going down the inside trck
  14. love mine but wish the new app had the test function on the cvs i can also give my grandson a tablet with just the one engine on and i can stop it in an emergency from my ipad
  15. has contacts to all 6 wheels i expect its the cheepo version as it is split from a train set strange thing is i have an almost identical version no markings on it but suspect it may be lima as it is so close to this cheepo Hornby and that creeps around no problem at all with a cheep ebay controller and that only has contacts on the front and rear pair of wheels and they are just thin pieces of wire compared to the brass strips on the Hornby
  16. i have a new 6 wheel diesel (split from Hornby goods set) running dcc but same fault on dc the engine stalls on the Hornby curved points but only on the outside track and will run fine around the inner no signs of it shorting running a z21 and light stays blue(woud go red on short) any ideas as it has me baffled have checked track is true and all seems ok and have good contact to all 6 wheels
  17. i have seen the stall test mentioned but i cant see the need when are you ever likely to get a situation when you would stall an engine metal wheels on metal track would just continue to turn if the engine hit an immovable object surely and who in their right mind would run an engine into something i can see the need to check the engines maximum current draw on full power although how often would anyone even do that
  18. i have the same problem with these chips using a z21 white swapped them for the cheap £10 ebay chips and they run as sweet as a nut going to try the hattons chips for lighting and signals
  19. i am going to have a play with mine and use them to switch building lights on and off and change signals colour and try the flicker for a welding shed
  20. £10 laisdcc runs sweet as a nut
  21. will give those a try cant send mine back as i cut off the plug to hardwire them in no joy so going to try the £10 ebay cheepos next ps many of my defaults were different to yours
  22. has anyone found a way of getting these hattons chips to run without the constant stop start
  23. had an Hornby class 40 die on me posted to hattons on tues they received on thurs phone call today fri to say replacement on its way cant ask for better than that well done hattons
