  1. Judging by the quality produced from high quality 3D printing the results should be excellent . Although L2s are quite tall , being so numerous they would be a first class addition for any 1950’s to the present day large layout . Looking forward to seeing the finished results.
  2. For those modelling in N gauge, this laser cut kit is available from N-SCENIC.
  3. Triang Hornby

To easy to look back now and be critical.

It was the brand that pretty much got a large number of us into the hobby with some models if not standing the test of time at least held with high esteem in our hearts and memories. Perhaps the right product at the right time

  4. Regarding the L6 , (BICC) D STD tower height is 164’ 8” , the featured model is in 4mm scale. Spacing distance for these towers tends to be around five per mile.Hope this info will be useful . Paul.
  5. For anyone wanted to add detailing to their tower/substation models , Sankey Scenics produce an excellent range of scale warning signs.
  6. Pelham substation even has it’s own nature reserve as this postcard from the late seventies, early eighties can testify.
  7. . There are one or two , but also several off the internet showing the various Balfour Beatties 400kV designs.
  8. . The 400kV L6 line running from Oxford to Walham has the same tower designs .
  9. Thank you. I have various National Grid models all in 4mm which can be used on layouts as well as separately displayed. Although very common , they are seldom modelled so building and collecting them can give a representation to their scale. Another example is this 4mm scale scratch built substation which was made back in the 1970’s . .
  10. .4mm scale SF 60 400kV pylon . Unfortunately I was unable to photoshop any wires in .
  11. . Thank you. With over 1000 photos for prototype referencing have you built any ? Detailing the Hornby version is a good starting point as they can also be adapted into various tower types - terminal , deviation etc.The photos show four variations ..
  12. 4mm scale 400kV National Grid towers..
  13. I have a Hornby box full of pylon parts , these might be useful in helping you to repair the damaged ones.No charge on parts and postage.
  14. . Great photo , which area are you modelling ?
  15. . I’ve just found that junction on Street View at Hambleton Moss Side , the very same design . It’s an SF60 M20 tower , the base being an additional ten feet taller. These towers are rare in the south, with only one spotted so far at Braintree, Essex , it even makes an appearance on a Prodigy video !
