  1. It is about time someone got them. Given how long shop owners have been out of pocket since paying for them it’s a wonder no-one has gone bust.
  2. 56001 in Construction 56014 with unmatched cabs in Blue 56024 in Original Railfreight (last Romanian in that livery) 56036 in Large Logo 56048 in Dutch 56075 in unbranded tripe grey 56076 in Blue (Blyth Power) 56135 in Original Railfreight as built
  3. Are you not missing an orange multiple working receptor above the front number of the 56?
  4. I’ll agree to disagree. I saw the loco in 1984, have my own photos and know my own mind. I will not be paying the money. If you are happy, that is fine. Enjoy your loco.
  5. Doors never repainted. Pictures of it only ever show same colour doors as the body. Hornby just made the black doors up. Given they’ve messed up the doors on 87006 and 87009, maybe they should try some form of enhanced quality checks in that area. For a £200 model it is totally unacceptable.
  6. Search Flikr for “87006 1984”. You’ll get loads of photos and whilst the loco’s colour changes based on photo exposure and how clean the loco is, the doors are always the same colour as the body.
  7. When the catalogue came out the punters emailed to say 87006’s doors were not black, but Exec Grey. They said, we’ll fix it. Guess what. Order cancelled.
  8. An absolute treasure trove of a shop for second hand and new locos and stock. Some real bargains, notably on second hand Hornby and Bachmann items for the steam era. Literally hundreds of rare locos and coaches at brilliant prices. They trade at shows, but all their stock is in the shop so it is rammed. There is no website, but they do post and will talk thorough their stock on the phone via 01752 665007. Their facebook site is useful.
  9. In the last 2 months my Heljan Res 47778 has expanded and ripped the body in half. Was fine earlier this year when put on the shelf. Not heard of this model going before and not heard of any new expansions in a long time so was quite surprised.
  10. Mine arrived today. I guessed at that price they were old bodies, but hoped otherwise. They are good enough for me for £100 with free postage, would struggle to get that on ebay even for the old ones. I have lots of 33/2's, a handful of 33/1's and only two dodgy 33'0s before these two so they will add to the collection. Guess they are using up old stock at the Heljan factory. Very odd though, probably a logical story that has been poorly communicated, but given world events I am not surprised. All in all, I am happy and will keep them. Finish looks excellent so goes a long way to hiding the obvious balls up.
  11. http://www.class33crompton.co.uk/Crompton33008more.htm some on that link, it carried stripe and no white windows for a very limited time it appears.
  12. Don’t suppose anyone has a spare of this or willing to part with it for a nice payment / donation to charity. It is the only Strathwood diesel book I am missing; missed knowledge of its release as I have been ill. :-(
  13. Thanks Crompton 33. Hopefully sorted. Brian’s got them ready for me.
  14. Really struggling to find replacement glass for an original 33/0. Anyone resolve this previously?
  15. Thanks Hobby. The Combi is the new and as yet untried controller. Bought it when the second engine fried and I realised that there was more at play than a single dodgy loco. Loco 3 and controller being set up now.
  16. Thanks all. The new one is a Combi. No idea on the old controller; it is now out of use permanently I think. Hopefully better luck. My gut feel when the second loco went was the controller - even if it’s caused no problems elsewhere.
  17. New controller bought with as yet untried third loco today. Old one was guagemaster and no issues with other Locos.
  18. New controller bought with as yet untried third loco today. Old one was guagemaster and no issues with other Locos.
  19. Thanks Stephen - to help clarify it is NOT being run on DCC.
  20. Has anyone had problems with these shorting out? Bought two, both ran for circa 3 mins fine but then stopped dead and shorted the circuit. Took them off the main track and put them onto the test straight but the shorting out continued. Checked pickups and internals and nothing obvious so both returned. Gutted. The first one even ended up with smoke pouring out. Bought a new controller and new wiring to the track in case there is something wrong there. Any ideas before I fry a third one?
  21. My 67759 was stored out of a box (but securely). It wouldn’t have been subject to massive temperature fluctuations. Seems I have been unlucky. Easily fixed though and it’s back running.
  22. I had the same white powedery look on the grills of my 31165. I painted the grills only in a very light covering of rail blue paint. Problem solved. I ended up using a light covering of acrylic paint (horrid stuff) as this blended in best. Had to paint all the grills to blend in equally (even the two grills that weren’t white).
  23. L1 - 67759 rear bogie. Wheels jammed and on trying to free them the whole rear bogie cracked and fell apart.
  24. Had to buy a new L1 trailing bogie. The one on 67759 wouldn’t allow the wheels to turn. On trying to free them the whole bogie cracked and fell apart with metal fatigue. Is this a known issue?
