  1. I have both the Humbrol and Tamyia weathering powders but unfortunately I do not have the skills to use them
  2. I have since sold it on for that very reason, it looked very much like a cheap plastic toy compared to my later locos Although the chassis is different from the early Airfix days it was still not the quietest of cement mixers locos
  3. Thank you to all that have commented and helped me to get my mojo back
  4. I have chosen to:- - maintain blissful ignorance & - learn to live happily with approximation

  6. Very helpful, thank you Locos:- "GREAT WESTERN" 1906-1934 "GWR" 1942-1947 Coaches:- Coat of Arms 1927-1933 & 1942-1947 Roundel 1934-1942 With this in mind I'm going to 'pretend' my layout is earlier forties and there are still a few locos that are awaiting a livery change or I will put a police box on the platform and blame an alien from Gallifrey for messing up time and space
  7. You are quite right, it is ridiculous! The location of my layout is fictitious so why be bothered about historical accuracy for somewhere that doesn't exist All was good until I started to concern myself with inaccuracies.......or rather concerned about others picking up on them
  8. I was 10yrs old and woke up to this one Christmas morning, it said 5-16 years on the box but it only took me a morning to build The following year I had my first proper trainset Hornby's Flying Scotsman Set
  9. I’ve not done much on the layout of late mainly because, as the title suggests, I’ve been allowing myself to get bogged down in the details. Actually when I say not much I actually mean nothing at all for weeks I’ve just spent much of the time concerning myself about the fact that some of my locos are in pre 1934 livery and some are in post 1942 livery and that all of my rolling stock are from different periods in GWR’s history…….so I’ve simply stopped everything I admit that despite my set of rules below I have still been preoccupied with what others may think, concerned about my errors and inaccuracies being highlighted It’s never going to be at an exhibition layout and it’s not based on anywhere (or anywhen) in particular but I still can’t seam to get motivated Has anyone else ever felt like this or do I just need to increase my dose of happy pills
  10. Absolutely fantastic craftsmanship!
  11. worse for passengers if the drivers are legless
  12. I came across these guys buy accident last week whist searching for a Hornby R3225 GWR 2-8-2 CLASS 72XX that have sold out everywhere else Surprisingly they had them in stock so I ordered one that arrived very quickly. A friend of mine also wanted one so I ordered another on his behalf and that also arrived very quickly It looks like they may have more in stock as it's still listed and not shown as 'out of stock' Fast, friendly service https://www.addlestone-models.co.uk/acatalog/R3225-GWR-2-8-2-CLASS-72XX--DCC-READY--Hornby-R3225.html#SID=186
