  1. Update on my 122s! I still found the models to be buzzing loudly even whilst on my rolling road with a Gaugemaster DS. I was worried about some form of electrical fault. I opened up one and removed the seating moulding to reveal the motor. Whilst running on full power, I then discovered that the buzzing noise stopped when I put my finger on top the motor. The simple fact was that the motor was noisily vibrating despite sitting in a cradle of thin foam pieces. To overcome the problem I pushed in a ‘sausage’ of blue-tac on each side of the motor. I have adopted this solution for all my models and they are all running sweetly and quietly.
  2. I have four 122s and I ran them on our Club test tracks last night. All ran very noisily and slowly. The noise was not mechanical and was a form of electrical ‘buzzing’. I was so worried that I didn’t run them for very long. The layout uses Gaugemaster non-feedback panel mounted controllers. We don’t have anything additional like HF track cleaners. A Bachmann class 20 was run with no problems so we were able to ascertain that there wasn’t a partial short or any other track/electrical problems. Fellow Club members queried whether the Dapol electronics were not compatible with the Gaugemaster panel-mounts. I am now going to try the models on my rolling road with Gaugemaster feedback controllers. Has anybody else encountered similar problems?
  3. Hi I am not getting over excited. However, I would like to know whether the stock problem has affected all customers or just a few of us. Are Hattons sending anything out at the moment? If so then I realise that the reason my order has not been processed is due to a stock problem with the items I have ordered. If not then Hattons have a major system problem. Hence my question.
  4. Are Hattons sending anything out? Are any orders being processed?
  5. I placed an order on Thursday for the Hattons Warwells and also have received the email today. As all of the models were showing as 'more than 10 in stock' I hope that my order will be fulfilled.
  6. Hi I have been posting on the Hornby Trade topic but realise that my question belongs here. I have a sound fitted Hornby Colas class 56 but want to run it on DC. Originally I swapped the chassis with another 56 but quickly realised that the lights on neither would work owing to the different polarity wiring for the LEDs. My plan is to simply remove the 21 pin sound decoder from the Colas 56 and fit a blanking plug. I see that Hornby don't have a 21 pin blanking plug. Therefore, can I fit a Bachmann 21 pin blanking plug to a Hornby 56? I am checking as I don't want to risk frying the circuit board. Any help much appreciated.
  7. Hi Mick D I don't know. If a Bachmann 21 pin blanking plate is wired the same as a Hornby sound 21 pin socket then I am good to go. Before taking the plunge, can anyone confirm this? I don't fancy frying the circuit board. Thanks again
  8. I am trying to get to a non DCC Colas 56094 and a DCC sound fitted Metals 56032. Does a 21 pin blanking plug exist for Hornby as I cannot find this? I am happy to sell the 21 pin sound decoder and replace it with an 8 pin version for 56032. Any help much appreciated.
  9. I have the same issues. I want to take the sound decoder out of Colas 56094 and fit it to Metals 56032. I tried swapping the bodies and realised that there was a problem when the lights didn't work on both locos. I have swapped back and thankfully so haven't blown the LEDs. So, I now need a Hornby 21 pin blanking plug for the Colas loco. Does this exist? Also, I assume that I will need to sell the decoder/speaker as I can only fit these onto a loco that already is sound fitted. Exasperating!
  10. Just looking at photos of clay trains in Devon. The Exeter - Dollands Moor regularly had a mix of blue JIAs with Polybulks, bullets and Cargowaggons.
  11. I have seen blue JIAs on wagonload trains. Try looking at the Cornwall Railway Society website, Ron Westwater's site or type Cornish Clay trains onto Flickr.
  12. I sometimes have to smile at the conjecture! Just ask Kernow if you want to know who owns the tooling and produced the models. They can tell you if they wish.
  13. Worth watching the 4TC models in action on Kernow's Facebook page.
  14. Hi sc2016, I have seen a photo of 2 blue/grey sets sandwiching a buffet in Cornwall. Not sure if NSE sets came down here. I imagine Exeter would have seen sets in all liveries on relief Waterloo/Salisbury services. Others on here will know more! Andrew
  15. I was with Chris when we extensively photographed and measured the real thing at Burngullow a few years ago. I can tell you that the model is dimensionally accurate. I also have 5 S-kits models and when first built, I thought they looked narrow. Andrew
  16. Here's a question! Did NSE liveried 121s ever run in Cornwall? An earlier post suggests one on the Looe branch but I cannot find any photos. Just trying to justify having one. Thanks in anticipation.
  17. I would always want couplings attached to bogies. The cam mechanisms can stick leading to derailments, especially when propelling. I for one, am glad that Kernow have reversed the trend.
  18. Please, please can we not speculate upon the detailed reasons for the long gestation of this model. I am getting tired of people with no knowledge trying to cast blame. I used to work for Kernow by the way!
  19. A 156 full of Scottish Daleks. Get Aaron to record 'Exterminate' and have it as an extra soundl decoder function!
  20. I made a special journey to the Bristol show to see the 156 in the flesh as I am planning to buy 20 for my layout based upon St Blazey in the 1960's. Blow me down me ansums but Charlie and Bif had forgotten to bring one. Disgusted from Cornwall!!! (Tongue firmly in cheek)
  21. I think that comparing Bachmann with Dapol is problematic. From my experience of generally poorer quality of Dapol diesel locos (colour, livery, electrics, lighting), I am very happy to pay proportionately more for Bachmann locos. You pays your money....
  22. I had not realised that it was an Eastleigh allocated loco before Crewe. So, in this livery suitable for all regions except ScR!
