  1. Thanks Phil The photo really helps. Andrew
  2. Thanks for the advice. I’ll have a go with one point to starry with. Andrew
  3. On my new layout, based on Par, I want to use the Peco Bullhead points together with C & L track with their concrete sleepers. The C & L track for use with these sleepers is Flat Bottom. My recent photos at Par reveal that all the points have wooden sleepers with Flat Bottom rail and the main lines and Newquay platform line have concrete sleepers with Flat Bottom rail. Therefore, the use of the Peco points would be a compromise. Can I join the Peco Bullhead points to the C & L Flat Bottom rail. If so, what would I use for joiners? Any advice much appreciated. Andrew
  4. Many thanks. I am going to use C & L rail on C & L concrete sleepers. I’ll check the rail code for this. I’ll post on the Peco thread. Andrew
  5. I want to build a new layout with Peco OO Bullhead points. I also want to use concrete sleeper track. The only C & L concrete sleepers that suit require Flat Bottom track. I am modelling Par station that has wooden sleepers on the points and concrete on the main lines. Can I mix the two? Andrew
  6. Sorry whilst I accept the one side has not been fitted properly I am definitely not convinced. The trusses look too deep. This may be an optical illusion but I am sceptical.
  7. Trusses look too deep. For me this was the problem with the Kernow Turbots.
  8. Why is this thread still here? This is nothing to do with a Retailer Commission. Hopefully I haven’t upset the admins too much! Andrew
  9. That should calm everyone down again!
  10. To answer the main question - no, manufacturers do not reimburse retailers for the costs associated with returns. As a distance seller, the retailers have quite a lot weighted against them from customers that either can’t make up their minds (and treat the retailer like a library) or are really fussy (e.g. ‘my box has a very small crease on the corner’).
  11. The conversation about this model is typical of that we have at our Club. Some, like me, are happy to accept that Hornby have made a mistake and will fix it in due time. Others are very strident and start quoting consumer law and their rights. Still others vilify the manufacturer. Whilst the model is expensive by historical comparatives, the price point is the new ‘normal’. So we should not get more annoyed because the model costs £400. As the famous advert goes ‘Calm Down Dear’. It may take time but it will be sorted out. For those that are really upset - return the model for a refund. For those that are happy to fettle - carry on. For everyone else ‘Patience is a Virtue’. I am now expecting some angry responses! Andrew
  12. Rails are getting them according to the email that I have received from them just now.
  13. My numbers are silver also. No, Ajax did not have silver numbers! I will have to use transfers to replace those on the model. Andrew
  14. I have found that all my models initially ran very slowly and drew more amps than usual. I use Gaugemaster hand-held non-feedback controller. It could be that your model is particularly ‘tight’ and is drawing more current than the cut-out on your controller. Of course, it could also mean that you have a drive-train fault. I continued to run mine for about half an hour and they all freed up. In essence, they need running in. Hope that this helps. Andrew
  15. Pete, you’ve just made my morning! Andrew
  16. I’d like several in 00. Are you planning any Pete? Andrew
  17. I particularly like Jason’s flares. I hadn’t realised that they’d made a comeback. Bring it on!
  18. adb968008 My 122s needed quite a lot of running in before I could achieve speeds comparable with my other stock. I also had problems with the motors vibrating in their housings and filled gaps with blu-tac. Hope that this helps.
  19. I visited the shop last week and there are several extra staff to process the orders and pack them. Remember that they are dealing with 3 sets of Limited Editions as well as the Christmas rush. They are working flat out and really want to get models to customers ASAP.
  20. My experience with my 122s were that they ran slowly to start with but the speed returned to normal with running in.
  21. Kymn I live close to Kernow and when I popped in last week they were incredibly busy with both processing limited edition models as well as the Christmas build up. They are very well managed business and any fears that you may have are unfounded.
  22. Following the modifications to my 122 models to stop the motors vibrating, all ran sweetly on our Club test layout last night. All started running slowly but soon speeded up after several circuits - running in is definitely required! I ran them together with the Bachmann 101. The difference in carriage lighting was noticeable. The Dapol models are much brighter. The lack of passengers was most apparent in the 122s and will be my next job.
  23. Many thanks railcar1. All has become clear. This pad is missing on all my models.
  24. Does your motor vibrate? I can see the lugs but these don’t secure the motor from up/down movement.
  25. Many thanks The Johnster. The motor is not mounted as such. It just sits in a foam lined cradle which only supports the lower half. This means that there is nothing to physically stop vibration. The two shafts with universal joints both turn sweetly, with no tight spots.
