  1. I'm going to respond to a small part of the original post - If the price is right I would buy one of these, irrespective of the livery, and it might encourage me to research more LT models and operations - something that I currently have no interest in, and with an RTR (and iconic) locomotive how many more 'new' modellers could you get, especially when you consider that some people don't like making loco kits.
  2. Thanks for the photos Darrel. It looks like the tender has straight sides? Could make a conversion an easy proposition.
  3. Can someone post a picture of the Schools, in particular the cab area? I would like to know how the cab fits onto the rest of the model. Thanks in advance.
  4. The linked picture is at Salisbury, you can see an exhibition coach in the 'depot' behind the station wall.
  5. I used to have four LPs with the stories read by Johnie Morris. Yes, the Johnie Morris who presented 'Animal Magic'
  6. I'm going to start cutting into my 4472 this weekend, I might even get as far as some glueing. The simplest modification, and no doubt the first I'll finish, will be a repaint on the Coronation.
  7. Hello photos no 23 & 28, the eighties called, it wants it lack of style back!
  8. Getting back on topic - As I was leaving work about 18:00 today, I heard and saw the Boston steel train, but why would it have loco's top and tail? By the way today it was a 56 leading and a namer 47 trailing through Gonerby.
  9. I'm waiting until the Schools comes out, and then I'm going to look at putting the Schools cab on the 2800, once done it will be painted a nice Post Office Red, with a home made tender, and hopefully I will plan a way to motorise it. What adhesive do you use when you stick all your bits back together?
  10. By 'Wisbeach Railway' you mean the Wisbech and Upwell Tramway - home to Toby the Tram Engine!
  11. That's not Fort William, the station is two small, and looks like it is a through line. My first thought was an MOD oil terminal, but that is pure speculation on my part. Does any one know what Crianlarich, or Upper Tyndrum stations are like?
  12. Or they should be donated to the local museum, with some background information on the local railways.
  13. I've just nearl hurt myself, I'm never "flying" Kuluna airways.

  16. I picked up my 2800 today, and the only thing that I can complain about is the shape of the handrail across the front of the smoke box. I'm not to fussed about the rest of the faults with it, as it is going to become something completely different anyway. How long before the Schools class 'impression' is released?
  17. Having decided to subscribe to this part work, I am looking at each release and considering what I could possibly do with them - Mallard has been cut up! The Duchess will be finished in a late British Railways livery, Flying Scotsman has been dismantled, and will be cut up - the various sections of Scotsman and Mallard will be re-assembled as a "de-streamlined" A4, and I'm looking at the posts regarding the 2800, and my first thought was to use it as a stationary boiler, but I could re-paint it into a fictional livery. I can't wait until the Schools gets released, I wonder what it would look like with a Fowler cab and tender?
  18. The Germans had / have a Newspaper called 'Die Welt' which translates as 'The World'

    Kinky

Can I suggest that you leave the track as it is, unless you have other stock that won't go through the kink, and I would go with trying to provide some movement it the pony truck first - that might solve the road holding problem.
  20. It was launched at the week long rail fair that was held at the NRM in 2004 (not 2002!) I took it for five issues, but I had to cancel my subscription. I would have described it as a video magazine, with features on model railways, mainline operations, and preservation operations. The company behind seemed to be a professional / corporate video type of team, but they were keen on the idea. Edited to correct the year - Richard Trevithick, 1804, railways 200 years and all that. Oops.
  21. The generator van would have had a B5 under the 'generator' end due to the weight, but under the 'van' end it would still have the B4. Some Mark 1 Restaurant and Kitchen cars had the same bogie arrangement. As for riding in the van, I guess that there would still be a need for a handbrake - so why not leave the guard's equipment, and office, in place.
  22. What is noticeable about the single power car rake is the amount of work (exhaust smoke produced) being done, compared to the next set with two power cars on it.
  23. And contemplating various "cut-and-shut" and fictitious locomotives, I'm waiting for part 3 with plans to take the cab and firebox off, and put the cab and firebox from Mallard on, then I hope to be able to "Semi-streamline" the smokebox, with a "utility" running plate at the front end - British Railways express blue paint scheme. Two questions - Where is Peters Spares, and does he have a website? Does anyone know of any A4 names that were planned, but never used?
  24. That looks interesting, but I presume that uses PECO track as well?
