  1. Not much more done on the yard. Painted additional cork inlay, still waiting for Royal Mail to shake a leg and deliver my gate post ordered a while ago now from Intentio.

Added some wood bracing to add some linked strip lights I saw on Chris’s excellent  Swindleton layout, I had to visit three different toolstations stores around the region to get the lights I wanted.

  2. I have rejigged the original fencing to allow for a new swinging gate to be added to the new siding.

This is currently in the postal system somewhere, all I need is the gate post which I could not locate in the railway room.

Swindelton is kept in the garage and stored on some industrial racking. Although my garage lighting is very good, it has meant that it can be a bit dark to work on, so another little project has been to install some lighting.

The photo does not really show how dark it can be, but when standing in front of the light coming in from behind, it gets very dark!

I got some LED strip lights from tool station and 3 can be linked together, conveniently the number I needed. I fixed them to the rear of the upper racking beam.

It's now a lot nicer to work on, display and photograph things. Hopefully this will encourage some additional progress!

  4. Finally started a bit of work to put another track into the yard.

I built this micro/Diorama during the dreaded lock down period using anything I had to hand it was originally just a programming track.

Thought being I can shunt wagons from the shed when unloaded to the second siding to be loaded. This will involve wagons being taken off scene onto the traverser and brought back on scene.

  5. Called in to the Yorkshire Wolds Railway (YWR) on the way back home from a site I visited outside York on Wednesday.

Most work had ceased that day because of the torrential rain so took a snap of progress on the brake van and our loco under going maintenance.

Unfortunately the site suffered a break in on  Friday, some tools stolen out the van with all locks sawed off 🤬

Assuming your plan is 31465 (I think it was the only NR ETH one), then my guess would be it was rotten when overhauled and it was easier to just plate over.

    Hi Al,

Thanks, Yes 31465, strange both ends, but that seems to the most plausible reason.

They also had 31602 I think?

  7. Well an early Christmas pressie too….. myself… damn Hattons O gauge sale 🤥.

A bit of work to do on this, not sure why two of the front footsteps were plated over at each end, does anyone know?? I will follow suit, then fit sound, driver then weather.
