  1. Lez and myself had an enjoyable couple of hours at the show this morning. The smell of the bacon cobs hit you as we walked up the drive. Mike was doing a roaring trade with these and had to go out for more supplies! I took a few pictures of each layout on show. Like many layouts photographs often don’t do them justice once you get to see them in real life. Here are a few snaps of Neil’s layout for starters.
  2. I was not tempted lol. But I did give it a sniff and it did still have a faint smell of chocolate.
  3. The bullet pencil is quite a sort after item now. I have seen them sell for up to £100.
  4. Had this super item come into work this week. Still has some of the original chocolate inside it plus a biscuit and a Boer bullet which was stopped by his belt during the relief of Ladysmith. He also served in WW1 and later worked as a goods guard on the Midland Railway.
  5. Patch had his annual MOT at the Vets on Friday. He passed with no advisories and weighed in same as last year at 5.3kg. Currently in his favourite spot on the heated electric fur blanket.
  6. Hi Peter, the Mogo was vac fitted as far as I know so yes. Done a bit more to the brake van. Handrails and buffers fitted. I did discover that the sprung buffers won’t work as supplied. The securing nuts are not large enough being smaller than the holes in the bufferbeam. So the buffers would simply fall out. So I made a shim from scrap brass fret drilled to size and secured behind the bufferbeam. Problem solved and the buffers now work as intended and don’t fall out. The old modellers maxim of don’t throw anything away proves it worth again.
  7. The LMS brake van build is progressing. Roof just plonked in place for the photo.
  8. As the weather as still a bit chilly I decided to save on the heating in the cabin and do a job inside the house in the form of another Parkside kit. This time a GWR 12/13ton open goods wagon. Picked this one up yesterday. As ever a very straightforward build with all parts fitting well. I also picked up an LMS 20 ton goods brake van to pair up with my Jinty. Going to start on this one this afternoon.
  9. Hi James, just a case of making a small hole in the ballast with a knife and gluing in the base for the stools. I am using cork for the base coloured with concrete weathering powder. Cheers, Ade.
  10. Last day off work and finally got to do some modelling. Made a start on the point rodding. Got seven installed. Also finished painting some more figures and installed them in the 45xx and the 43xx.
  11. And a final video of 4270 taken this morning on the final run into Broadway Station. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CmzMZm9Dmmd/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  12. Last pics from today. The LSWR marked wagon is in the grounds of the camp site as is the former goods shed.
  13. Hi Guy, the site is almost full tonight. As you say, not cheap. But you cannot fault the location. Not had chance to look at the old goods shed yet. Cheers, Ade.
  14. Likewise I fancy a few in 7mm for my layout.
  15. Final photos at Broadway Station. Great day out. We thought it was good value for money. I was impressed with the line. Everything was in good order with even the embankments having been cut. Well done to all the volunteers at the line. Uniformed staff were all well turned out.
  16. Last pics as we pass through Winchcombe station yard

  18. Some views around the station with the various displays. This is inside the mail coach.
  19. Toddington Station Yard and Engine Shed. Queen Mary SR bogie brake van and private owner wagons. Little museum in a former signal box and a working ground frame which you can have a play on. The Diesels take me back to my train spotting days in Nottingham in the late 1970’s with Peak and the Type 1. Having tea and cake in the Flag & Whistle now while awaiting Merchant Navy P&O Line for our next ride.
