Hi Guys, traveled down yesterday to Broadway. Staying at the caravan and motorhome club site right next door to the station. Not a great journey down as an idiot in a VW van towing a caravan drove into the back of us. Back end of the van damaged but drivable. We were in nose to tail stop start traffic. So looking forward to a happier day today. Photos to follow. Cheers, Ade.

I have fitted a working buckeye coupling to mine and to my A3 corridor tender. Looks good and makes life much easier. -
I can highly recommend it. I bought a copy at Warley. Usual disclaimer applies. Cheers, Ade.

Hi Oliver, sounds great. Have a look at my layout thread if you have not already seen it? The size you have available is only a foot shorter than mine in length while the width is the same. I have a five foot traverser and the rest is scenic. Cheers, Ade.

Ade's 7mm layout: Malmesbury station

Thank you but my secret to shading is really very simple. When painting 1/100th scale WW2 wargames figures and tanks I was introduced to a shading wash marketed by Citadel paints. As they make paints designed for the fantasy wargames market the colours all have weird names! The one I use is called “Agrax Earthshade”. It is a very thin water based dark brown wash of watery consistency. Take a brush full of this and paint it all over the figure. It will run into all the details on the figure such as the folds in the clothes. As the wash is so thin capillary action does most of the work. If there is too much you just touch it with an unloaded brush and that will suck it up. Naturally it will darken the overall base colour so allow for that when initially painting your figure. If desired you can dry brush the highlights in a lighter shade of the base colour to make the tops of any creases in the clothes stand out like the light is hitting them. This shading wash is also great for weathering locos such as on bufferbeams where it will accumulate around any rivet detail. Also great on wagons where it will run between planks etc. Cheers, Ade. -
The link is coming up as private for me?

517 class entering Malmesbury shed

This looks absolutely superb. I did not realise the dimensions of the shed differed to drawings. Thanks for that. Which make of stone sheets did you use? The look a good match to the shed in reality. Cheers, Ade. -

Not me, but in my wife’s case being forced by her employer to use part of her annual leave entitlement to cover the days the company is closed over Christmas and New Year. She said she would rather take the time off unpaid. No, got to use your annual leave days. Much sooner take these days off in summer when the weather is decent, not in cold and miserable December where you cannot do anything.
